Ballistic vest does nothing, the cougar always deals a lot of damage and you might as well strip off because its attack destroys your clothes. You repair the claw knife like any other and in my opinion it is the best in the game. When it comes to repairing, when the cougar cap is 40% -60%damaged, we destroy it and recover the hide from which we make a new cap, just like in the case of moose clothes.

Was really hoping cured leather. What does harvesting the items yield?
@@fknutz4400 You destroy the item, recover the skin and make a new one out of it. With one cougar skin you can make this cap forever
And taking off all of your clothes won’t cause you to take more damage?
Wait, the repair thing can be done whit any other animal clothing or only moose and cougar.

I wonder if they'll ever make new afflictions like Snow Blindness or Blurry Eyes(from reading too much or being near a flares for too long). and they'd add like ski goggles, improvised goggles like the Inuit wear, or Eye Drops. so many things they could do!
I was thinking the same thing recently. A few years ago I was thinking it'd be cool to have a mountain lion that stalks the player and doesn't just wander around like other animals. Hinterland must have a mind reader on staff

I think a hand drill kit would be cool, you use birch bark, old man’s beard and a stick to make it and it’s good for a few uses.
@cosmicplayz8773 some string maybe and you have a bow string which could be a step up from the hand drill

I don't know about a must for interloper at least not early on. The cougar attack is devastating and there is no way around it.

It's more of an endgame item vs a starter. Yes you should go for it in an interloper run for sure. HOWEVER. Unless you get God Tier luck with your spawns you aint gonna see one of these for a good 50+ days (cuz you gotta go find loot and make some of the best gear before it matters)
I agree it is a must for loper players. Puts the game on easy mode with wolves. Course u work for it for sure

Did you manage to kill the cougar on your first try ? It feels really dangerous to get a 3 days debuff with multiple bleeds, 60% damage, 50% reduced maximum condition and only get a single arrow shot to kill it... if you're not in an open area, it could just run over a hill, or behind the edge of a house...
I am pondering if it is really worth it... the hat got +1°C compared to rabbit but is also heavier, the knife is obviously better (I assume it can be repaired with whetstones and the milling machine). And After you got the loot, the cougar is just annoying and forces you to change region often.
You repair the knife normally like any other. I killed him the first time, but I knew what the fight was like, that in slow mode you had to find the cat and shoot once, and I must admit that I was impressed with how I managed to hit it, because it was quite a distance and a bow, and it's rather hard to hit with a bow.

Wow the claw destroys wolves. Can you tell me what settings you play? Is it a custom interloper? Or pure interloper?
Pure interloper with mods. But no mods what can change combat or damage. The knife is just op.

@@dallashill23 Now I use few mods. 1 gear decay mainly to find things that were not destroyed before picking them up. My sandbox is 440 days old and if I played without this mod, I would find 0% items, clothes. I'm not sure if the mod works well now because I found a lot of things in ruins in the new region. 2 Placing anywhere, because it helps to arrange things. 3 fire addon to make fires using a lantern and have kindling as fuel 4. Time Accelerator, the most important mod for me! thanks to which you save real time and it is not a cheat because you speed up your walking, but you also feel all states accelerated 5 Bleeding revamped and all the mods that are necessary for the functioning of the ones I described

Not worth it. I wont risk my long term interloper run because of this. Not before the 500 day mark at least
can you make a video on how the ballistic vest works against the cougar?
I checked the fight with vest and 99% protection, it doesn't work, puma left me about 10-15% of life

It repairs like a regular knife, u said?
I mean the ballistic vest does something. With 97% protection the cougar dealt only 35% condition loss (which is alot given that bear attacks deal WAY less damage with such amount of protection). Apparently it reduces damage taken by clothes.
Also, severe lacerations cause blood loss in random parts of the body, while ballistic vest offers immunity to blood loss (only for chest, neck and stomach). So technically it should give you a chance of not getting blood loss from this affliction while wearing the vest (only if blood loss will happen in those body parts i mentioned before).
the ballistic vest prevents blood loss from external trauma, but the blood loss from severe lacerations is just the result of pre-existing wounds opening up again. there's no reason for the ballistic vest to prevent this, it's not a band-aid or a suture kit.
Yes, that's true. I made some test and vest work and do good work. But still lost lot life but bleeding chance is more more rare

Chyba nie jest dostępna,ja jej nie miałem. Na filmie użyłem modów by ją pokazać, jest ok ale wole kurtkę ze skór zwierząt

i cant shake the feeling of the cougar wrap looking ugly, reminds me highly of a beta or alpha clothing piece look and thats not great. It only looks bad on the survivor, it looks way better when you pick it up for some reason
This is the only game where I don’t care how I look as long as I’m warm and such
The meat u have is that from one cougar? If so it's like 2200 calories? Not much...course from what I have read about mountain men, this was the meat they chose above all others. And they had their pick
puma meat in the game, when cooked, gives 1000 kcal and has the same calorific value as deer. And I only had 4 kg of meat to collect.

@@skill2555 to jest i tak alternatywa a przez błędy w grze można zginąć. Chociaż dawno temu na wskutek resetu komputera nagłego straciłem dwa zapisy i od tamtej pory trzymam zapis gry plik na pulpicie awaryjnie,poza tym zmieniam mody i jak coś mają zapsuc wole móc wrócić
So a normal knife with a cougar claw pommel. Why you cant just make a razor knife normally I have no idea.
It's seems like it's more of a reward for the achievement of being able to take down a cougar

Im in pilgram and its been 70 days and it wont attack ive tried waiting and throwing 2 noisemakers at the den and nothing is this a bug you by chance know how to fix? Im on xbox

@@jesseyagci6495 cougar wanders between regions, you have a clear message in how many days it will enter your region and when it will enter. If you don't have it, it means it isn't in the game yet or there are many regions further away
Yeah it's active and all it just won't attack I hear it's music and sounds a long with the little icon at the bottom left with its face and still nothing
@@jesseyagci6495 I waited until it was two days before the cougar left the region and I let the time pass forward and it attacked me.
