    Thank you so much for providing this in depth videos of practicing traditionally. I am currently learning the basics of kendo and decided to learn on my own accord for now. Staying disciplined and learning, while triple and quadruple checking my form from your videos has helped tremendously 💪👍

    Oh my god, oh my god, I did it, I ve been stuck on this move for months, I finally get it, keeping the weight on left foot (who would think that?) then slide right foot forward, shift weight gradually to right foot and strike at the end of the weight shifting. It finally make sense now, thank you, thank you, so much. I m really excited now. No matter how many performances video I watch, I don’t think I m smart enough to spot the key technique without u pointing out. Thank you again.

      I have been going through your video one by one for a while now, they are truly wonderful videos. But during the learning process, I found although there r lots technic in kendo, but after a while it seems to me, there is limitation of what u can do on your own, I mean without a training group or partner. Also I came to kendo from Chinese martial art (wingchun) background , I m not sure how well u know “wingchun”, I can sum up “wingchun” is all about the application in real world situations. I did a little study of kendo, from what I ve learned, morden Japanese kendo is more tilt to the “sport side” instead of real world defence application. If I ever dare to make a suggestion, I would say, maybe, show us a little bit more, a different side of kendo, the transitional fighting side of kendo. After all, there r so many computer games shows us there r much much more kendo applications in a combat situation. It seems to me, modern kendo is only focus “sword against sword” situation, and limited “parts of human body(4 parts only right?)” you can strike. Please forgive my arrogance, if my comment appears that way. I am truly respect you and Japanese kendo. That’s only me with a little wondering.

    I apologize for disturbing you, the question may seem stupid to you, since I do not understand English well by ear. Are we pushing with our back foot before throwing our body forward? It just looks like you are jumping from one foot to the other in a parabola. Or is it about moving forward, with the transfer of body weight from the back leg to the front leg at the time of landing?

      Thanks for your comment and question, Кирилл Иванов! 😄
      It is more like delivering your body forward. Don't worry about pushing with the back foot or jumping.

      @KendoGuide  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Are you asking if you can use the one hand to hold the katana? In kendo or something else?

    • @Hachira-0

      To be honest with you, I don't know. And my guess is that it depends on how you swing it and also where you start to swing it. If you start from the same position like jodan and swing the katana down at the same time, probably the cut with both hands is faster. And you need to have the correct angle to cut so unless you are really trained, it is very hard to accomplish to cut correctly with one hand. But this is my guess.
