Senior investigative producer Leslie Marcus warns of one supplement, commonly referred to as “gas station heroin,” that is turning people into addicts. This supplement contains the drug tianeptine, which is not FDA approved in the United States. I love how they pick someone who clearly can’t make proper decisions. He knew it was an opioid agonist but still decided to use it recreationally. To call it gas station heroin is exaggerated. All opioid agonists have antidepressant effects. This doesn’t make Tianeptine more or less addicting. Dramatic word play is really annoying.
I think you’re missing the point. Til is an antidepressant molecule literally. TCA’s similar to it have withdrawal symptoms so it probably makes things more sidicukt
@@SkatinLanc Tianeptine does not function like typical antidepressants and doesn’t interact with the same systems as ssri or ndri antidepressants, but the report is trying to say that is the equivalent of “legal” heroin and could be more addicting. It has pronounced antidepressant effects because it has serotonin regulation potential, but maintenance drugs like methadone does the exact same thing so it’s not unique to Tianeptine.
Tianeptine affects Serotonin release and is prescribed as an antidepressant in Europe as a superior alternative to SSRIs like Prozac, it is not at all similar to Opiates in any way. Whoever produced this report would have known this had they done a basic 5 minute google homework search but couldn't be bothered. This news report is completely asinine & idiotic.

I finally decided to try it. Unfortunately, it's not for me. I slowly added the pre-measured capsules and only took 1gram. I was crawling out of my skin! I don't know if this is related to kratom but I broke out, and have had liver pain (been there, know how it feels) for the last 3 days. I didn't change any other thing I normally ingest. ie: diet, vitamins, etc. I always drink a ton of water too.

I was addicted to tianeptine. I used to order it from a “research” lab online. Was easy and cheap. The withdrawals were absolutely hellish. Worse than opioids alone.
Kratom helped me kick it. Kratom is amazing in moderation.

@@herehere3139 Just be careful with kratom. I was on it for around a year and it absolutely destroyed my memory. I thought it was helping me with some issues I was having, and for a time it was. But after a while my anxiety was absolutely peaking and I was also having significant liver problems. I don't think that kratom should be made illegal, but I think that people should know that it's not all sunshine and daisies.

I'm so glad you said "in moderation" before I got the treatment I needed for pain kratom was literally the only thing I had to get me out of bed barely even that wasn't enough but I got to the point where I was on Max dose multiple times a day and everyone says you can't withdrawal on it but let me tell you when you're a sick as I was it's very possible withdrawal on it might not be a severe but it's very noticeable felt like I got hit by a car for 2 days when I decided to cut down my dosage wouldn't touch this shit now

I was a heroin IV user and never really got them. But I've been in methadone treatment for 8 months and I get them from that sometimes.
Anything can be abused. Banning it won’t do any good. It’s called self accountability and responsibility.
Also people with histories of drug abuse tend to have mental health issues, ptsd, etc. Therapy and medicine help addicts. Self accountability changes when your brain does. There is science behind chemical dependency, not just “ don’t do it” “have self control” lol.

@Ayethere M8 you’re dumbing things down, situations like these are usually more complex than it seems. No doubt he was probably looking for some relief, a lot of people are suffering and it isn’t a simple task to fix that.
And as for him simply looking it up and figuring out it was a no go, you realize how much conflicting/misinformation is out there on the internet.
Life ain’t that simple, maybe you’re young, but if you think if everyone just did some internet drug research before they got involved and then they’d magically steer clear of some sort of addiction, whether it be a more obscure drug or something like this that has a lot of conflicting information about it, you have a lot to learn.

U increased ur usage so fast all u proved to me was ur addiction began as mental because u increased ur usage to dangerous levels faster than ur body could become physically addicted.
When he took more than the recommended dose and that wasn't enough, is all he should have needed to know this was not the supplement for him. Most people are not going to go to the crazy extreme that he did. This is a lesson for no one.

Kratom saved my life! I don't have to use heroin everyday and I don't have to worry about overdose or stealing to get enough money for drugs. I can work a normal job, and order my kratom no problem. Kratom let's me feel well enough to play with my daughter. It's a gift from god. Not "has station heroin" what a sensationalist piece of bad journalism.

Im a recovering fent addict. Kratom is some weak stuff. I got some when I initially tried to quit sinoloan oxy’s. It didn’t help me much at all.
The fent and carfent is just to damn strong.
Even a normal 15mg Percocet didn’t hardly dent my wd’s.
Anyway, I’m on suboxone now and I’m doing a lot better.

*One year ago today I took this stuff and went into a coma and was on life support in the hospital for 2 weeks,I ended up having septis of the blood,my brain seized up and I've had kidney surgeries throughout this year,i woke up in the hospital bed gasping for air when I woke up out of the coma and seen my family praying over me,I had to get off this stuff and it was the most painful thing ever,it lasted a month,but i understood it had to hurt to heal, scariest thing ever!*

Yes, but kids can buy it and become opioid addicts from it. So you can't have this on store shelves. And most are using Kratom when they don't have heroin or other opioids. Very few have quit with Kratom. And even they haven't quit, they just take Kratom rather than heroin

What do these people do when they cannot buy Kratom ? Example, if FDA would ban it from store shelves. Or States decide they want to ban it, to prevent kids and adults from buying and becoming opioid dependent. Kratom is now part of drug testing for CDL drivers at UPS , FED EX, etc.... I took this drug for 3 months as an addict looking for a legal opioid high, I have a few videos on my youtube about this powerful synthetic opioid that should be banned (it does get u pretty damn high). It's sad to see this dude didn't know his dose :( I highly doubt this dude died from respiratory depression like u would from a traditional opioid, this dude probs died from cardiac arrhythmias given its similarities in structure to a tca. I know this from personal experience with trying to abuse this drug, you hit a dose where you just know that it's doing harm to ur heart (heart racing and just an overall bad experience which is exactly why I quit). I didn't feel any of these negative side effects the first time I got high because the dose was too low to have the deadly side effects, but once you go any higher than 600mg you definitely run into trouble.
This kid obviously wasn't careful enough with his doses and he overdosed and died ultimately not from respiratory depression but from a heart arrhythmia that was brought on because he thought he could take 1+ grams like people did online which is impossible to survive if you have zero tolerance people!

120 pills a day is on the user. He was already addicted. Just couldn't find it. Turned to that. Addicted users will try anything. Cough medicine, etc. In order to get relief.
Yeah that's insane. I like a good opioid buzz, but just to get stuff done. I don't have to feel that way all the time, and of that I am very thankful.
There are no drugs or supplements that turn people into addicts. You see, humanity has been making the mistake of thinking the drugs, the plants and the chemicals involved are to be blamed. You think the people who grow, produce and sell these things are to be blamed. But underneath it all, you know it's true, it's within each person to be accountable to their actions at the end of the day.
Addiction isn’t the only terrible thing that comes from buying substances from dealers… dealers cut their products all of the time with deadly shit you’d never know about, or aftermarket pills and before you know it important, intelligent, and loved people are dying from a very sad disease. This is only one example of the multitude of terrifying things that can happen in addiction in general. Accountability is absolutely the first step in recovery, but addiction and the journey to becoming an addict is so much more complicated than you or others seem to think it is. Kids grow up around this kind of stuff and it’s really not uncommon for young kids to just think doing hard drugs by the time they’re in middle school is normal.. because it is their normal… Every circumstance is different. Just educate yourself.
@@amanduhh7980 addiction is NOT a disease. It's a choice. Calling it a disease is so counterproductive to recovery. It allows the person to not.take full responsibility and puts blame on the "disease". When you first start abusing the drug, you make the decision to become the addict.

It’s a choice to first take a drug, tho under the influence of said drug, depending on how much of a cocktail one has chosen to take, they end up on a benderrrrr a straight benderrrr where they don’t know wtf they’re doing at all the whole time. Then ya wake up one day and boom it all hits ya cuz you’re not on the drugs any more. So yes, anyone can become an addict, and it’s a choice to inhale a drug (but also this varies like who are they with, how much are they taking, how conscious of their decisions to take more drugs while on certain drugs already, are they aware of?) I agreee accountability is so important. Nothing to be ashamed of if you’re recovering btw! And yes taking drugs in the first place is objectively not good. Ya never know what’ll happen on drugs. Of course this depends like some drugs ppl have more self control. Sometimes ppl go straight crazy and do objectively horrible things to people and then to themselves.
I think saying addiction is a disease is like a metaphor. Drugs ruin the body and mind like a disease. People choose to take those drugs one day, people can choose not to take those drugs for the rest of their lives after that. Accountability of the present and all that before is so helpful in recovery. Awareness is great and hard to see while someone is under the influence
So while it is a choice to take drugs. Once certain drugs are taken they can take over the brain and body unless there’s some sort of intervention whether with the self or treatment or a buddy. It’s so hard to quit for some people which sux. Drugs ruin the people who chose to take them if they continue to take them until they die.

Actually, this "gas station heroin" is just a regular antidepressant commonly prescribed to old person in my country. In my country it's abused less than 0.1% of the time. The issue isn't the molecule, it's the auto-medication.

@@lauraestes9304 hi 🙋🏻♀️ I’m 53 and I’m in that generation where years ago (in my 30’s), drs were prescribing mass quantities of opioid pain pills, but they didn’t want me or anyone else that suffered from chronic widespread pain to know that all these pills were addictive. What makes it bad now is, they make you choose between benzos and pain meds. It’s the people that have so much pain that sometimes have to find their relief because drs can’t help anymore. They also label pain patients as junkies and that’s not even fair!! I’ve always said that I WISH Big Pharma could make these pills non addictive, but then they wouldn’t get those big paydays! They don’t want anyone getting off of these drugs because they wouldn’t have a job! It infuriates me and I’ll NEVER judge anyone that goes to the streets to find drugs to get them out of pain. What I mean by “pain” is, the actual pain from a damaged spine, etc and the “pain” that stems from addiction.
Years ago, people could go to their primary care Dr and get pain meds, but now you have to go to a pain clinic. The pain clinics don’t want to increase pain medication. They take the dosage down because they’re afraid of losing their license. They realize that people become tolerant to it. You would think that they would want to better care for the patient. This is why people turn to the streets for drugs! It’s a horrible situation that we can thank pain clinics for 🙄 They treat grown adults like trash! My heart breaks for anyone that’s addicted to opioids or has been addicted. Hopefully one day there will be a drug for chronic pain that works but isn’t addictive.
