  • Day 1 on the beautifully remote and unspoilt, Camino Baztan.
Bayonne, France is the Baztan's starting point, ending in Pamplona in Spain. This lesser walked Camino is an absolute must walk route and offers stunning views, as you pass through quaint towns and villages.
Distance - Bayonne to Urdax: 35/36kms.
    Walked in April

It’s a beautiful little gem of a Camino, isn’t it. I loved staying in the Albergue in Urdax, and the scenery was breathtaking at times. Buen Camino

Reminds me of when I walked the Pilgrim's Way in November of 2019. Not well marked, raining...lots of backtracking and trying to find the trail again. Eventually I made it all the way to Canterbury Cathedral...

It becomes a bit of a task keeping track of the markings, doesn’t it. The signage in France was very sparse at times. I’ve walked a section of the Pilgrims Way when it crossed with the North Downs Way and we lost the trail a couple of times there too 😄

Great video, I noticed at the beginning you didn’t have a cover for your checked in rucksack, I’m guessing you had no problems with that? I head out to SJPDP in under two weeks 😁

No, I never use a cover for flying...which is why it's probably in a bit of a state 😁. On flying out of the UK they always make me take it to the 'odd shaped' baggage drop off though, and I make sure I tie up loose straps and connect the back straps so they don't catch on anything.
Wow, less than 2 weeks and you're off! How exciting. Will you be walking the Frances? How far are you walking. Buen Camino

@@Caminohacks Thank you for the tip, that’s helped to know and reduced my stress thinking about it 😁
Proper excited now! 😁 yes, I’ll be walking the Frances. The plan is to walk all the way to Finisterre. How far are you walking? Looking forward to seeing your next video. Buen Camino

@@danwilliams93 Glad I could help. If there is anything you need advice on, no matter how small then ask and I'll try my best to help you.
You have an adventure coming up, it's going to be such a cool experience. I do love Finisterre, chilling out on the beach as the sun goes down...
I walked from Bayonne to Pamplona last week, then I'll be tackling the Ingles to Muxia and Finisterre in June this year.
I should be posting Day 2 of the Baztan by the end of the week; it's a very rainy video! 😂

    The Camino was closed?!

Yes, they closed a portion in France 🇫🇷 for a 2 day rally race and wouldn’t let us walk on it.

Don’t think I’ve heard of hikers who have no map or app.

We had a guidebook, but it was limited at best.
