to get the best results you need to:
    1. shampoo VERY well (maybe 2 times if you need to
    2. deep condition/ use a hair mask
    3. detangle
    4. let you hair air dry to 40%
    5. apply heat protection and the TINIEST amount of hair serum
    6. blow dry to get your hair as straight a possible
    7. flat iron using the chase method and make sure to work in tiny sections and and do 2-3 passes max.
    8. optionally style n curl and apply hair spray
There shouldn't be much steam coming off of your hair. Steam means too much product and oil. That excess product will burn and potentially damage your hair more than the actual heat would.

N one can do ALL of this n still it will come out the way their hair IS.. meaning not everyone can achieve that real real silky look that so many of you tend to go for. Some folk hair is suoer super resistant, tight, stibborn, and frizzy by nature..dna. Forcing it will DAMAGE it (even if it 'looks pretty'). ❤ yep its true

This. Is. My. Life. I’m naturally high porosity, so all the salon products and expensive dryers, brushes, and flat irons in the world don’t matter. My “silk press” absolutely will not stay straight and always ends up looking more like a blowout by day 2 (if I’m lucky)

What’s crazy is that when my sister did it my silk press was amazing

You live and you learn sis! Suggestions: blow-dry the hair as straight as possible first. Not a tension blow-out but use a paddle brush or comb attachment. Use a silicone ladened heat protectant and make sure your irons are hot enough for your texture. I think you should be ok with 400 degrees but you may have to do more than one pass. I would also suggest doing smaller sections and using a brush for the chasing method. If you want your curls to hold, you'll definitely have to trim off the split ends. They really do prevent the hair from holding a curl. I don't know why/how, but they do. No worries, your next attempt will be better!

    1. wash n condish, get professional trim
    2. put the heat protectant on while you're hair is wet
    3. blow dry or better yet, are dry hair
    4. take super thin sections of hair at a time to do a couple of passes (2 passes tops)
    5. voila= silk press
the key is putting heat protection on wet hair

I SWEAR by the glam twinz (Kelsey in particular) straightening hair routine. I was in your shoes many times before sis and then I watched her (Kelsey) video and went out that same week and bought EVERYTHING she used on her hair. Her method and those products worked like a charm sis 👌🏽
I would recommend any natural who’s trying to straighten their hair to give her routine a try 👍🏽👍🏽☺️

Don't feel bad. Your hair is still so pretty!I decided to flatiron mine after 1 yr & half being natural. It's super thick.. I blow dryerd it with brush dryer 1st. It stayed straight until I finished. Then it reverted back. So I'm rocking my crochet braids for a while. I bought some John Frieda Frizz Ease to try when I get in the mood to try again.

Oh man I was so hurt when your curls fell! It’s okay though girl one round of heat won’t kill it. I haven’t pressed my hair since I’ve been natural (6 years!) but I’m going to silk press this year and I’m so nervous!
