Great video man. I just put up a 4x4 DIY in my backyard and have been trying to figure out how to rig it. I think you sold me on the fly-though. Also, brilliant idea about the platform feeder around the pole - I found some online for 4x4s as well. Where are you from? I live in Wisconsin and it certainly sounds different than a midwest accent but can't pinpoint it!!
We have hawks that show up in yard after the leaves fall off the trees. They can then try to pick off the birds that are not paying attention, as they eat. We have tried removing the feeders for a week or so. The hawks simply come back. I was thinking of getting a large shield to put over the feeders so the hawks cannot see them feeding. Do you think this fly through feeder would help keep them safer from the hawks?
I love that idea my problem is Doves eat all the food I have hoards of them when I put out a platform feeder I have deveral Cardinals families that come but it's a fight for them to get food
Any suggestions for someone currently living in town, that has to take down their Sheppard hooks because of snow removal other than fastening directly to the building?
@@gilligallou the problem i have is i cant have a pole anywhere because the plow will just run it over. Maybe a ground feeder that i can move as i need to?
Hello, can I ask what the full mesh bottom is made out of and can I buy it so I can make my own tray for my fly through? The ones that come with my fly through are defected. Thanks
Inkseepons T hi there, it’s a galvanized steel mesh, I haven’t been able to source it at all, larger quantities only, the manufacturer is in south west Ontario,
jesusbonnie some wrap them with mesh large enough hole for most birds to get in but, not the pigeons . It is a challenge . I would Almonte be inclined to use a different style feeder, like our squirrel Buster models, check out gilligalloubird.com for more info, other video on out channel here also of them, thank you , feel free to subscribe for future videos on other topic that are coming, Bob
@@gilligallou I too have problems with pigeons. I went to your site. The one called "Finch" is pretty much what I have...and those dang pigeons will perch right on those little protruding bars like the finches and continuously flap their wings while feeding. Very aggressive here in Las Vegas, NV. Any other ideas?

@@Scousergirl it can be a free for all that’s for sure, having feeders out early morning and late in the day may be the best option? Enjoy. 😊👍
What about wind driven rain? Mine lets the birdseed get wet. Perhaps I should wall up 3 sides?
Brian H afternoon, ours has full mesh bottoms that allows the seed to dry.

Gilligallou Bird thanks for the fast reply. That’s to bad. Hopefully I can find something that will work and be safe for the birds. Wish me luck. 😊
Where can you buy replacement mesh for these feeders?
Jason Weathers that is an issue, most of the regular hard ware retailers don’t stock it. It’s very difficult to get in small amounts.
How can you make this pegion proof?

It's that simple, just go to the Stodoys website and enter the world of woodworkers.
