I am thoroughly convinced that Reigen is the most powerful character in the entire Mob Psycho universe. Not because he has psychic power, but because he is the only person ever shown who is capable of stopping Mob from going full 100%.
I love that Mob Psycho tells you in the first 3 seconds of the intro what the show is going to be about and still manages to hit this hard with the message. "If everyone is not special, maybe you can be what you want to be."
So something I don't think that y'all understood is that Reigen was doing the right thing in telling Mob not to fight Claw. Since Claw was dead set on killing him, the only way that Mob fighting back could help would be to kill members of Claw. If Mob were to actually kill a person, he would likely never be able to recover from that, and his psychic powers would just make that trauma more harmful

The thing about Ritsu flip flopping so fast is actually really understandable. Ritsu only had that one time where a sudden flash of power came from Mob and hurt himself as well as an entire group of people so there's no way for him to have a solid understanding of how strong Mob's powers are. Even in the first couple of episodes the only time it last for more than a flash is from fight with Teru. The only way to get any scale to his powers were from that fight which Ritsu wasn't there for. The fight in the alley with Megumu Koyama is the first time Ritsu could ever get a idea of how monumental Mob's powers really are. Secondly while watching Megumu repeatedly pound Mob in the face Ritsu starts to break down and cry then runs over to beg Megumu for Mob's life. At that point all of his ego and desires for power are abandoned to try and save his brothers life. This moment is very quick and is hard to remember over the battle of Mob vs Megumu but it is important.
There's also a different reason behind his nickname, if you convert his name to Kanji it'll be Shi-geo, Shi is written as Mo and geo is written as Bu hence Mo-Bu
It's more likely that his real name is Shigeo because he is Mobu, not the other way around. Basically One looked for a real name that can sound like Mo-Bu and arrived at Shigeo@@Berlin_XD

Yep, Mob is very sensitive and self critical. I think the guilt from killing someone even in self defense in an unconcious state would drive Mob to a deep depression and probably self harm. Reigen is completely right in wanting to shield him from that, at least until Mob's mature enough for it.

Ritsu always had a dark side. Part of his character is that outwardly he does everything right. That doesn't tell you anything about what he is thinking or feeling. Every time the show gave us any insight into his feelings it was always dark. So Ritsu's transformation into a villian is not random. It was foreshadowed from the beginning. Also, take it easy on the class president. He is a middle schooler dealing with terrible depression brought on by a very unsupportive family and a high achieving brother to overshadow him. He literally lives in filth because he hates himself. Do I think he deserved getting beat up for everything he has done? Yeah, but I took no pleasure in him getting beat up. The whole situation is depressing.

i love how youre talking about the similarities to other anime youve seen (or, well, at least jjk :D). and indeed, things like "main character joins a club at school that happens to need a new member immediately" or "main character joins a club against their will and its convenient to the plot" are definitely tropes in anime manga, which is why its so genius when mob psycho plays with the (anime-knowledgable) viewers expectations, who of course thinks "oh, mobs gonna join the telepathy club, obviously! he has psychic powers after all!" by instead having mob actively choose to be in a different club. and its really makes sense with his character - he doesnt care about his psychic powers, and he already has them. he doesnt really want to spend more time using them or training them or whatever - hes just a lil awkward teenager who has a crush on a popular girl, of course hes gonna wanna do everything he can to impress her. and in his head, doing sports is way more effective for that than telepathy (and hes right lmao). i absolutely love mob as a character, and reigen as well - they are such a brilliant duo with excellent comedy potential, but the emotional side is really important too. thats why i love them so much

I know this is a few months old, but at 3:33:35 you asked about if Moss always grows on the north side. Moss will always grow where the least sun hits while MOST of the time that will be towards the north, Moss can grow anywhere that sun does not hit regularly so you have to look at 3-5 different moss patches on trees and determine an Average northern direction from those 3-5 patches. If you just take one patch of moss as guaranteed north then it may lead you in any direction because it could have just grown on that side of the tree because another tree was always blocking the sunlight there therefore moss could grow.

Can't wait for you to watch the 2nd and 3rd season. 3rd is the last season and it has a definite ending unlike many anime shows. It's also one of the best anime of all time because of the character developments. Not just the action. It can get tear jerky at times and you'll get to experience that once you get through the rest of the series.
I think Teru is a hilarious character. The dude is obviously the main character of the show. He's heroic, he makes plans, he adapts to other villains powers, but because Mob exists, he's a sidekick who wears pink sweaters.

Its complex self-image disorder mainly that affects emotions, impulse control, and interpersonal relationships perception. Mob appears to be a "quite" type, which means whenever he has a spike of emotion, that would lead to an outburst, it instead gets internalized and directed at yourself, obviously unhealthy, but perceived healthier than lashing out against others. It doesnt get flat out said in the show, but its pretty much heavily implied if you know the symptoms. This show does a really good job of portraying how it feels to have BPD and I would highly reccomend this show to others who are curious about the POV of someone with BPD.
There is a semi popular theory in the fandom that Reigen's parents were neglectful or possibly worse in his dad's case. From official mob psycho guidebook that I'm pretty sure still hasn't been translated to english: his father thinks he's a bum that should get a real job, his mother thinks he's being tricked despite how much he explains his business to her and while she is not exactly unsupportive but just refuses to even try to understand him. He hasn't seen them in years but thinks maybe he should try again so is going to visit them once a year. That on top of a lot of his behaviours, I mean this passage was right after the section talking about his family "Mob admires Reigen for how bold and confident he is, for how he can read between the lines. But he says Reigen often acts a bit secretive and shoulders whatever troubles he has by himself without asking anyone for help, so Mob wants him to stop doing that" Plus some of his behaviours in the little follow up book series that came after mob are... concerning.

Reigen is actually incredibly intelligent. All his teachers said he did really well in school. But because of that, he gets easily bored with regular life, which is why he went into the psychic business. There is never a mundane moment with Mob around.
This is my favorite anime of all time. It’s a story about a middle schooler learning to love himself. There’s a lot of emotional pay off, so I hope you stick with it.

It pained me when you guys were still rooting for Mob to fight back even after seeing that his emotion at 100% was murderous intent. Hurting people with his powers is literally the reason why Mob locks his emotions away in the first place.
Yep, Mob is very sensitive and self critical. I think the guilt from killing someone even in self defense in an unconcious state would drive Mob to a deep depression and probably self harm.
Reigen is completely right in wanting to shield him from that, at least until Mob's mature enough for it.

Ritsu always had a dark side. Part of his character is that outwardly he does everything right. That doesn't tell you anything about what he is thinking or feeling. Every time the show gave us any insight into his feelings it was always dark. So Ritsu's transformation into a villian is not random. It was foreshadowed from the beginning.
Also, take it easy on the class president. He is a middle schooler dealing with terrible depression brought on by a very unsupportive family and a high achieving brother to overshadow him. He literally lives in filth because he hates himself. Do I think he deserved getting beat up for everything he has done? Yeah, but I took no pleasure in him getting beat up. The whole situation is depressing.

If Mob had lost control in that fight with scars..he would have killed and destroyed everything..even his allies..which means he is not powerful enough to control his strength despite having it from birth
Reigen, an adult with no experience with physic abilities, is able to completely defeat the scars, no problem, with complete control with the same power Mob was gonna explode with and with the same power that exploded everytime he went 100%..making Reigen powerful enough to control the strength.
The reason this happened was because Reigen was an adult with emotional maturity unlike Mob.
Which means once Mob grows up, he will gain control making him more powerful

Not saying I'm on Mob's level or anything, lol, but if you're used to repressing emotions or holding back in any way it tends to be surprising difficult to get back to your breaking point. Even when I should be more angry- maybe at like a really frustrating game or something- the feeling is just very fleeting, deflates quickly, and usually just comes out as 'mildly miffed.' But you seriously don't wanna get someone who's holding back actually past their breaking point, if Mob hasn't already made it clear, lol 😅

i love how youre talking about the similarities to other anime youve seen (or, well, at least jjk :D). and indeed, things like "main character joins a club at school that happens to need a new member immediately" or "main character joins a club against their will and its convenient to the plot" are definitely tropes in anime manga, which is why its so genius when mob psycho plays with the (anime-knowledgable) viewers expectations, who of course thinks "oh, mobs gonna join the telepathy club, obviously! he has psychic powers after all!" by instead having mob actively choose to be in a different club. and its really makes sense with his character - he doesnt care about his psychic powers, and he already has them. he doesnt really want to spend more time using them or training them or whatever - hes just a lil awkward teenager who has a crush on a popular girl, of course hes gonna wanna do everything he can to impress her. and in his head, doing sports is way more effective for that than telepathy (and hes right lmao).
i absolutely love mob as a character, and reigen as well - they are such a brilliant duo with excellent comedy potential, but the emotional side is really important too. thats why i love them so much

I know this is a few months old, but at 3:33:35 you asked about if Moss always grows on the north side. Moss will always grow where the least sun hits while MOST of the time that will be towards the north, Moss can grow anywhere that sun does not hit regularly so you have to look at 3-5 different moss patches on trees and determine an Average northern direction from those 3-5 patches. If you just take one patch of moss as guaranteed north then it may lead you in any direction because it could have just grown on that side of the tree because another tree was always blocking the sunlight there therefore moss could grow.

Can't wait for you to watch the 2nd and 3rd season. 3rd is the last season and it has a definite ending unlike many anime shows. It's also one of the best anime of all time because of the character developments. Not just the action. It can get tear jerky at times and you'll get to experience that once you get through the rest of the series.

I think Teru is a hilarious character. The dude is obviously the main character of the show. He's heroic, he makes plans, he adapts to other villains powers, but because Mob exists, he's a sidekick who wears pink sweaters.

59:40 Hey, loving the reaction so far! Haven't finished the video yet, but to answer the question. Mob basically has BPD. Its complex self-image disorder mainly that affects emotions, impulse control, and interpersonal relationships perception. Mob appears to be a "quite" type, which means whenever he has a spike of emotion, that would lead to an outburst, it instead gets internalized and directed at yourself, obviously unhealthy, but perceived healthier than lashing out against others. It doesnt get flat out said in the show, but its pretty much heavily implied if you know the symptoms.
This show does a really good job of portraying how it feels to have BPD and I would highly reccomend this show to others who are curious about the POV of someone with BPD.

There is a semi popular theory in the fandom that Reigen's parents were neglectful or possibly worse in his dad's case.
From official mob psycho guidebook that I'm pretty sure still hasn't been translated to english: his father thinks he's a bum that should get a real job, his mother thinks he's being tricked despite how much he explains his business to her and while she is not exactly unsupportive but just refuses to even try to understand him. He hasn't seen them in years but thinks maybe he should try again so is going to visit them once a year.
That on top of a lot of his behaviours, I mean this passage was right after the section talking about his family "Mob admires Reigen for how bold and confident he is, for how he can read between the lines. But he says Reigen often acts a bit secretive and shoulders whatever troubles he has by himself without asking anyone for help, so Mob wants him to stop doing that"
Plus some of his behaviours in the little follow up book series that came after mob are... concerning.

Reigen is actually incredibly intelligent. All his teachers said he did really well in school. But because of that, he gets easily bored with regular life, which is why he went into the psychic business. There is never a mundane moment with Mob around.
This is my favorite anime of all time. It’s a story about a middle schooler learning to love himself. There’s a lot of emotional pay off, so I hope you stick with it.
