I look at every coin that passes through my hands. I just came across a very circulated quarter from 1988, but what caught my eye was how the ponytail was completely separated from the neck, so there's a pretty nice size gap and I can't find anything about it. After looking at a good many quarters from the same date, I haven't see this size gap if any gap at all from other quarters. Please message me for a pic.
Funny the 1988 quarters ate being featured today, as I am attempting to get my coins 'situated' during this stay at home quarantine (arrghh). In any case, I came across some of my 80's Q's last night and to my surprise, I really do not have that many. Then again, I keep finding boxes, socks, cotton towels, old rinsed out medicine bottles,, ashtrays, silverware cases, etc., Filled with ALL kinds of coins. They are literally ALL OVER THE HOUSE!!! NO KIDDING ~ I must have over 20,000 pennies, 600 - 1000 nickels. etc. I home hunt for coins. Tonight it's quartet night. Hahahaha ~ I remember when "Qtr. Nite" involved bouncing one's Qtr.on the table & Into a tall tumbler type beet glass. Ahh, the good ol' days! As I recall, we all went thru A LOT of quarters (falling Down into the floor registers, etc.). Man, if I only knew then, what I know now. Have a great evening! I have a 1988 D Washington quarter with a half circle line that run between 1988 and trust all the way slightly over the letter L. I .B. E. R (liberty) :) imagine of a half moon shape :) from its natural look the line was probably occur during manufactured periods :) 100% it's not damage by people because when I look at it very close it looks as if you're painting a wall with too much paint on and it runs down :)
I have a 1988 p ddr, it is very obvious and a good spread on dollar and united states. There is also doubling on the front. I have this in a sealed mint set, so its in really good shape.
Seems pretty fake to me. The chip looked thicker than the quarter it supposedly came out of. Also, it sure seems like it would have melted if the coin got hot enough to crack open. The bottle cap part at the end made it look like a cheap magic trick.

I'm watching it now. It makes sense with the all this other b******* they've been feeding us and now a coin shortage? It makes sense that somebody would have an epiphany to see if there was something inside like a microchip and Wala! there it be...😳 go to TH-cam and Google it you'll see several coins with microchips! videos by different people...
Its a fake coin they sell that has a "hiding chamber" inside. They sell quarters, nickels, and even a pennies that do this. Called "covert coin case", look it up im sure it is easy to find. Too bad im sure i had plenty of 88 quarters lol oh well.

I have a 88 d mint that has 3 number 8s and the 3rd one is very visible so it reads 19888 and it's has planchet errors big time and it's double struck. I can't find any other coins to match it on Google. I think I've told you about this coin. It's in good condition for having been in circulation. I think it has a blackish die burst. I'm taking it down to my coin guy and have him look at it and he wants to check out my old wheat pennies so I'll take them down together and let you know what he has to say. He definitely knows all about coins. God bless

I have a 1988 P that's missing the "IN" and "T" from the "In God We Trust", reading "God We Rust". The P is very faint as well. Even the reverse side has some faint missing letters. It doesn't look from wear either.
I found a 1988 D that seems to have bumps and blemishes around the arrows and I couldn't really seem to find anything about it. Maybe a worn stamp? I'm not 100% smart on the terms I like like searching for double marks somewhere.

Back when I was first interested in coin collecting (around the time when silver coins were discontinued) it was just G. VG, F, VF, EF, AU AND UNC. Sometimes an UNC coin was called 'gem BU' or just BU. No one worried about a few bag marks or how well struck it was.
