Great lesson! With this lesson, I realized that I have been gravitating to one or two positions on the fretboard when playing blues. This is really powerful. Put the building blocks together across the neck and true freedom will present itself.
Jack I watch YT guitar lessons from many channels. You have the most relaxed but decisive playing style I've ever seen. It's like your hands know exactly where they are going and always arrive right on time.
Stop! Just as I dig into yet another of your excellent instructional videos, you post another one!!! My brain is like long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs! Fortunately, you have the instructional presence to scaffold your lessons with repeated "motifs" (caged system, triads, etc.) so each has a sense of "familiarity." Amazing!
I wish it was as easy as Jack makes it look. It takes so much practice not to have to think where you are or where you want to get to. I guess that you just have to keep at it until it is just in your fingers. Thanks
This is great, thanks Jack. As much as I think I know, there is always an opportunity to learn new approaches. I'll bookmark this for later when I can really dig in.
Hello Jack , caught you and the band at the underdog last Thursday. Stole lots of stuff off you. Better live than the you tube vids when you can hear how it all works together. Thanx for a great night out.
Welp - if you can't play a simple blues after this, then maybe the best advice is to drop the guitar and take up the flute. 😏 This is the key to the highway. Thank you Jack - forever grateful!
I think people get stuck in the monolithic caged shape pentatonic scales is because they only view it as such, like a silo, two walls (borders) on either side. If instead you first picture the triad (2nd inversion surrounding the root note) centered about two scale shapes to the left and right there are no silo walls. Navigate the triad islands by using the additional scale notes as passing notes. That’s where the knowledge of the generic shape or anatomy of any caged scale shape and the scale degrees within it comes in handy. Really need to know those scale degrees within the two sub-parts of the pentatonic scale shape, both minor and major.
Another excellent video! Thank you for the time put into this. Do you ever think about playing the A major/minor pentatonic over the 4 and 5 chords as well, or do you pretty much stick with arpeggios for the 4 and 5?
301. very helpful /// what is the basic concept and ideas for doing daily practice/study? What I mean is a couple of examples (thinking) as to pre-planning time etc. I have no routine and find I quickly get side tracked into daily chores and shine it on for the day.
I am in the middle of the "magic of triads - rhythm edition" but got drawn into this video just like I do with most of the videos you put out. what's that Gshaped A7? 5452xx and drop the 5th -- dropping the 5 is ok since R37 are present.
Well, basically, blues bores the hell out of me, but dude! you make it almost bearable. Seriously. If you applied yourself (to escaping the blues genre) you could really make something of yourself. You've mastered this stuff, time to move on. . . . I have a feeling this comment won't go over well. Oops.
Then you should listen to Jack when he is jazzing up... When diminished scales, lydian b7 and tritone substitutions come into play. He is a great multi-skilled guitarist.

That’s the idea. Thanks man!
...just when I thought it couldn't get any better..... . Thanks Jack.

Jack, no doubt that this is one of your great lessons and performance too! All the secrets unlocked in a simple way as always. Tks!
You are the best blues guitar teacher online, Jack. Thank you for your generosity.
Hugs from Chile! 🎉🎸

I love these videos. There’s enough teachers covering “Intro to CAGED”. I just spent the last few hours getting EDUCATED! Thanks Jack!
Keep up the great work Jack. Instructional and inspirational all at the same time.
Thanks, will do
Great timing for me. I've been working on all of the foundation ideas and you've just showed me how it all ties together. Sweeeeet!
Your thoughtful and always musical lessons are very appreciated! This lesson is one of the best on the topic I’ve seen.
Thanks!
Amidst all your great lessons, I feel that one is the greatest...
Thank you, a very useful lesson and beautiful licks!
Sweet, this is a 11 out of 10. Your playing is so relaxed. It makes me think of the first instructional video's from Robben Ford.
Maybe this is going to be the one to end years of confusion and frustration, here goes!
Jack always plays so smooth and economically. My idol.
Another great lesson. Very comprehensive. Thanks.
That reverb though.... tone you can eat! Love it!
Thanks Jack. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels. Appreciate what you’re doing here.
What a fantastic video have a wonderful day Jack ❤😊
Thank you!

This is an amazing lesson, will take me weeks to get through your tabs. Thanks!
Jack, you always provide great, useful information. Thanks.
Absolutely love your tone.
Thank You Jack ❤

Excellent!
Man Jack, your playing is too tasteful. Lol
Thanks for posting.

Not every classroom is intentioned for every learner.

A bit of both 👍
Anyone who watches this video should receive college credit. A lot of it.

Break up your time into short periods of very focused practice. Keep hitting the same few things every day until it clicks. That’s what works for me
@@JackRuch Thank you, this is one of the most important helps ever. pat
Sounds Bloomfieldesque
With Patreon, is the notation (arpeggios and scales) for all 5 positions provided?

Yeah that’s the idea. There’s a million variations on these voicings. But yeah, you don’t always have to play every note. Dropping the 5th works well.

What a shitty comment dude. Obviously you are way to good to be watching this channel.

would like to see more energy in some phrases, more dynamics and repeated phrases.
Yeah I’d like a million bucks and full head of hair, but it is what it is
that wouldnt help. it was just a comment but if I cant take that , it's not my problem
