    Thanks to BRS for this series! Really helping a beginner Apex user out!

    Well that was helpful. You just reminded me to turn the alarm back on. In the middle of the night the alarm went off for low ATO. I turned it off and did a reminder on my phone to make water but I forgot to turn the alarm back on. Really need the auto reset for the alarm.

    Can't wait for BRS to get comfortable with GHL to do a similar series. Great job as always 😊

    I'm sorry to see that you are kind of becoming Neptune's lap dogs, especially with that last comment. Don't get me wrong, I have an Apex, and I've had one since the ACIII, more than a decade ago. But there are other players in the field, especially the new CoralVue controller. Neptune has gotten very sloppy with customer support, especially on peripherals. If you send a module in for repair they always reply, "it was water damage" and they refuse to honor their warrantee. I see myself using less Neptune equipment and more from companies that honor their warrantees and stand by their products. Just compare the reviews of the Neptune WAV pump against the Tunze Stream 3 as an example of what I mean.

      We're sorry to hear that you've been having some bad experiences with Neptune. If there is ever anything that our own support team can do to help, don't hesitate to reach out. We do have a couple more controller options that you'll start to see on the BRS website in the near future in GHL and the Hydros controllers.

      One thing that I believe that Neptune really needs to make a priority is making this equipment more water resistant. For the price tag of this electronic equipment that is purposed to be near and in water, the degree of water resistance that is implemented is disappointing. Even the new Neptune Sky LEDs offer the least amount of water resistance compared to others.

    Guys. Your videos are great. Honestly I enjoy watching and learning about the apex controls. But here in the UK. We get the rubbish 6 power bar. Which doesn't do half of the stuff your 8 bar one's do.. Have a word with neptune, we deserve the better power bar too., especially as the neptune unit is equivalent to $1100…!

    There is a good saying that applies to good reefing; You can't manage what you don't monitor.

    Could you plug a power bar full of mp40s into the apex and just use one apex outlet to turn off the multiple mp40s?

    • @thomassimpson3934
      @thomassimpson3934 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did.

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Technically, yes. Just make sure that you're not over the max wattage/amp draw for that individual outlet. With MP40's not drawing too much power, likely not a problem.

    I am really considering getting one of these but I have been hearing really bad stuff about their customer service and quality issues so idk what to do now lol

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely do take reviews into account, but also know that for every negative review, there are many more happy customers that don't take the time to submit a review. Even if you don't go with the Apex and pick the GHL or Hydros instead, you'll be in good hands 🙂

    A little late to the party... but just set your alarm to silent during sleeping hours.
    "If Time 21:00 to 08:00 Then OFF"
    Leave your email alerts on so you can see it when you wake up.
    If you have a leak sensor, put it at the bottom so of your commands so it overrides the quiet time.

    I like the Neptune system however letting one system run it all is a problem. If Neptune fails then the whole system goes down. I have traditional power outlets and run SmartThings to run and warn me.

    will apex notify you when you're not home in the event of a power outage that obviously knocks out your wifi too?

    • @beej1254
      @beej1254 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, there is a feature known as “heartbeat”. If your apex isn’t connected to apex fusion then you’ll get a text alert.

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A couple of ways that you could go about getting an alert in this situation.
      1) set up Apex Heartbeat. This will notify you any time that you Apex is not connected to the cloud. This will tell you that either you have a power outage or internet outage. Unfortunately, it can't tell you exactly which one, just that something is wrong and you should check on your tank.
      2) Neptune makes a power supply cable for the base unit. If you plug this as well as your internet router/modem into a UPS, then you'll know that it's a power outage issue and not just an internet problem.

    They need a sensor that can detect tank flexing. I have a 75g on a floor over a crawlspace in a 75yo home. Older houses do tend to shift in cold climates. How do I know the foundation wall is solid, or the floor joists aren't flexing? I could come gone to my tank shattered one day or a seal popped open. Just something you stick to the back of the tank in a couple spots that measure defection

    👍
    Here’s hoping you’ll continue to pressure Neptune to re-release more BRS special edition Apex ‘ELMO’ units.
    If Neptune’s smart they’ll do this before CoralVue eventually releases a Hydros version c/w PH port for under $250.
    My current controllers/monitors:
    WiFi Inkbird for heaters
    Tunze wave controller
    AI for lights
    Avast Marine for ATO
    Kamoer X1 for KalkStirrer dosing
    BRS Dosers for Alk/Cal/Mg
    Reefkeeper RKL for PH monitoring and some switching
    Man, all I need is TEXT alert capability !!
    Id be willing to spend 200+...but not 5-800.
    For now...all I’m after is to replace my RKL with an updated controller /monitor that has web interface and text notifications.
    (..and grow the system from there eventually).
    It’s really too bad I missed out on the “BRS Apex” by a few hours before they sold out...and the CoralVue’s Hydros 2 doesn’t have PH.
    My wait continues.
    Hopefully my Inkbird’s Iphone notification will be enough of warning while I’m away. 🤞
    Cheers.😊

    If only reefing was just as cheap as fresh water.

  • @mnarlis
    @mnarlis 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Neptune has really gone downhill, especially with the cheap parts they use and the service they provide. They only have one service tech Kyle and his job is to up-sell you. They are the only company I know who tells you that their system will probably fail somewhere between 18-24 months and you need to send them more money to keep it going so they can charge you $200.00 to replace some tubing and a small pump from China. So glad to now go with Hydros. The product and parts are so much more advanced they Neptune.

    Another one: Be an European and buy APEX. The European 220V power bars have no features at all. It is only a power switch and 6 slot only. Everything is great about APEX not available for other countries. I don't understand this crap. Why so much hate for other countries? Don't you want our money? Our money not good? What the hell Neptune!?
