    Sweet!!! Getting ready to set up new lights and watching this while I’m doing it! ♥️

    Great video Devin! I’d only add to be careful trusting the Trident results (besides general trends) especially with Alk. I’ve found the Neptune calibration solution to not be very accurate. Instead I use the Fauna Main Multi Reference Solution which between the 2 always tests at or close to the stated values with our hobby grade kits. You mentioned you have the Alkatronic/ Mastertronic, so I’m sure you’re good to go at any rate.

      The dual testers are good to keep them
      Accountable! I’m still on my first batch of reagent for the trident. Kalk and carx are doing 80% of the dosing with trident/dos fine tuning thst last little bit. So even if it was off a bit it wouldn’t cause to much of a swing (in theory) but so far so good with everything!

    Did you have to do any modifications to the DOS to use the push connect fittings? Ive seen other people had to cut the head of the pump to get it to work

    Thanks for the video and insights.
    The blue tape hack is a great example of common sense and street smarts. I’ll definitely try it.
    The approximating with small changes to reach the goal seems a safe method.
    I look forward to your follow up,
    Jim
    PS: I’m still envious of your CO2 rig. Nicely done, great video, and a future goal.

    Hey Dev, I picked up a DOS when it was on sale a few weeks back. Trying the auto with the trident also. I ended up swinging my alk hard and lost all my sps. I was too aggressive and too many things going on. Good luck!

      Yikes! Sorry to hear that. I started pretty low then kept upping it every few days to get a feel for it

    The amount of stuff you have jam packed in this waterbox is amazing lol As far as dosing, I use the Versas. I have a question. I only started dosing alittle bit to get the Alk up to over 8 dkh since I use Tropic Marin Pro Reef which has dkh around 7.6 or so. I use two part ESV 2 and dose Alk & Calcium equally. I'm trying to understand an anomaly that happened after a month or two. I turned off the dosers since dkh started to creep up close to 9. It stayed there for a very long time. It seems like when the Alk is closer to 8dkh, it plummets faster than near 9. Maybe I'm missing something from a chemistry perspective as I'd expect it to fall at the same rate, but now it just sits relatively around 8.7 (as of yesterday on Matertronic) If it matters any, Calcium read 464, Mag is 1346, Nitrates 4.14, Phosphates (0.143 - It spiked because of Reef Roids twice in one week - its coming down with the GFO reactor) as it normally sits around .04. Do you recommend anything else for target feeding corals that don't have such a spike in phosphates? LFS store recommend Red Sea AB+, but isn't that just supplement like with Aquavitro's Fuel? Sorry for all the Qs, but respect your opinion on it.

      I constantly amaze my self how i manage to fit more stuff in!
      For feeding coral I like to mix it up, I sue frozen pe canalus, reef nutrition feeds, reef roids, reef blizzard and randomly pick one or mix a few together. Some time I spot feed other times I dump it in and broadcast feed the tank. I figure variety is best as diff corals May appreciate different foods/particle size.
      Amminos. Hard to say how differ thy they are but I would suspect fuel vs Red Sea is similar. Likely differance in the actual amminos but they are both ammino acids

      @@ReefDudes 30 years ago (yeahh im getting on a bit..) we would feed so many natural household foodsfor the varietyand also for medicine (apparently) Bananas, Cinnamon, dead leaves come to mind. :) before your time? wonder what happened to all the natural folk in his niche,you'd think in this 'organic' time there be more of it

    Do you still run the Trident Controlled Dosing? If so, is it still pretty accurate? Any other updates?

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes I do, The trident doesnt do all of my dosing, but it tweaks the supplemental on top of all of my main bulk dosing (carx/kalk)

  • @PazLeBon
    @PazLeBon 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was trying to work it out somewhat.I figure one probably needs about 10k worth of coral before requiring dosing equipoment :)

      @@ReefDudes ive never needed to dose.I never have tanks over 100gallon so water changes are all that is ever needed. if my numbers go out then I've overstocked the tank:) corals are no different to fish in that sense.. in my opinion.
