I love that moment when we can say, 'I'm done." You said it at the end of the video, said it with certainty, and it was fun to see that moment. Great floral, Linda!
I just started playing with cold wax without oil paints. I am using pastels and distress crayons to color the wax. I am an acrylic painter and mixed media artist, but have no oils in my studio. Question...Is there another solvent besides gamsol that would produce that same result? Thanks for sharing...love all your pieces! ❤️
Sally... Citrasolve concentrate works really well but it must be the concentrated one. Also. Lavender Spike Oil works too and is sold by Jerry’s Artarama. Enjoy your journey with cold wax. BTY you can use water soluble oil paint.
Thanks Linda. I will continue to experiment. I did a collage and covered it with all my experimental wax mixtures in yesterday’s video. I think it’s going to be fun going forward.
In my studio which is not heated… you are hearing a heater running. That heater has been replaced and in my newest videos, there is no noice. Sorry I annoyed you….
Are all the paints that you use in this OIL PAINTS? Where do you COLD WAX? What is the Oiler that you use....where do you get that! I want to do it all with you....love you..love your work...love your videos. Thank you for sharing and all you do!! ❤️🎨
Mark... even though I don’t know for sure since I don’t use water soluble oils, I would think that whatever is used for that product would be ok. I don’t think I would use water though. I do know for certain that you can use water soluble oils, but it must be used throughout the entire painting. Good guestion. 😀
Mark Chorlton... water “mixable” oils are still oil paints and shouldn’t be mixed with water. I know- confusing name, right? They are soluble in water for cleaning purposes so you don’t need caustic solvents for cleanup. But they should be thinned with the same thinners or mediums used for regular oil paints. Hope that’s helpful. That said, I know some artists are using them watered down for a sheer background or base layer, but not for the actual subject painting.
You can use the wax with the water soluble oils, you just won’t be able to clean up with soap and water as the cold wax is not water soluble. But you don’t need to use brushes for this technique, so who cares, cleanup is easy. Just play. You would have to use Gamsol for the lifting or you could try linseed oil for a more subtle effect. Or you could try mixing Murphy’s oil soap and a little water in the squeeze bottle, or citrasolve if you want to totally avoid gamsol. Or just don’t bother with the lifting technique.
So funny how everyone copies each other on these TH-cam vids… they all use blue tape, they all start with scribbling, they all colour their ground… very interesting how people keep doing the same things. I love the white of the paper to brighten the paint from behind… also never have I worried about the “white” it’s become a meme on the interwebs! What you say is what you get, don’t say a negative thing about the white and you will not worry about it… actually the White can be very exciting in some instances …lol sorry just saw your post was from 2yrs ago! 😂
Very interesting thanks for sharing… I think it did need some lighter tones… and some white. Light against dark always brings punch and interest to an area. … oh I just saw the end where you added the White!! Cheers.
Love your tutorials! I am new to cold wax so I am absorbing everything, you are a great teacher, thank you!!!
Thank you!
Love watching the process from beginning to end. The turquoise colour really make the piece pop. Lovely!!
Thanks Joanne! 😀
Beautiful work! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and artistry ♥️🌹

Thanks Sheila!
The color of the blue tape interacts with the pallet colors and really effects your eyes
😪
It looks very industrial. Nice!
Thanks so much.
So glad I found you!
Loved the addition of blue at the end!
A pop of color at the end always makes me smile! 😀😀😀
The blue at the very end killed it IMHO.
Beautiful demo ❤ thanks!
Thank you for sharing your work and thought process! I love the blue you added in the end.
~Amy
Amy... a big smile! Thanks my friend! ❤️
I thought you would never be finished. Yes I like it with the blue.
Lynda... you are so right! I always keep painting till I like it! 😀
Excellent ❤❤❤
Thanks!
Happy Holiday ,please mention again the scrapper and materials you are using and source.
Fred, I use the messermiester silicone bowl scraper which I get from Amazon and the soft brayer from Hobby Lobby. Happy painting! 😀
Wonderful!!
Thanks! 😀

I like this, but WHERE are you? The background noise is incredibly annoying.

I’ve never heard of an oiler boiler. Is it a special made bottle?
Search on Amazon and they will come up. One of my favorite tools.
Your material pls
What did you add on top of the grey layer.? Is it important?

I explain a lot of your questions in my videos. You need to take a class or workshop.
Thank you 😊
Thanks for watching!
Nice! Do you use a varnish like Gamvar after it dries? And if yes, how do you know when it is dry enough?
Connie....sometimes I use Gamvar, but not always! I usually don’t varnish till it’s hard dry. 😀
Ambient noise is really distracting.
what did you fill your oiler boiler with? mineral spirits? or a medium?
I use an odorless mineral spirit...Gamsol by Gamblin. 😀
@@LindaBentonMcCloskey ahhh.. yes, that'll do it. Thanks.
Hi Linda,
Love your work! Could you use water or a water soluable thinning medium with water soluable oils and cold wax? Thanks, Jane.

What is gamisol? Sorry to sound ignorant but I haven’t heard of it here in UK
It’s an odorless solvent by Gamblin.
What solvent do you use in the boiler. Thanks
Cap...I use Gamsol from Gamblin. It’s an OMS.
Yes, stop using that blue tape everyone!
Actually, it doesn’t bother me at all!

Background noise !
Yes... I know. I have no control over it! Sorry. 😪
Sounds like a restaurant, lol

So sorry.
