USUFRUCT | Trails, Forests, Beetles

- Usufruct is a short film about three friends on an atypical bikepacking trip near Durango, Colorado. Instead of planning a route with the best riding or most scenic vistas, they opt to ride through burn zones and beetle kill areas, diving into the impact and implications that climate change is having on their home trails. Their goal is to learn what they can do-and what we all can do- to start to change the tide.

Beautiful and 'REAL' docufilm. It goes to show you when you stop and look, there's a story unfolding everywhere.
Can you please have this close captioned? You know, there’s a lot of cyclists out there who happens to be deaf and having a video with close captioning would be greatly appreciated!
Especially the one with Ultraromance (it’s in Japanese!!!!).
I went on a bike backing trip to the German “Sauerland” recently and was shocked to see what the Beatles have done to the woods there. 19 Mio. Cubic meters of wood just dead. It’s a tragedy to the local communities and runs like a scar through one of germanys biggest forests!
Climate change really is devastating!
Thanks for the great video!
If you’re looking for more info on these topics, the podcast Good Fire is available. It might change how you see fire and what could happen if land management agencies practiced these methods. By the way I worked that fire with the Cedar City Hotshots. Never have I seen a community come together like I did in Hermosa.
Amazing ! So interesting and so real. Congrats ! Keep up the good work.
I almost died on Hermosa trail back in 2002. Rented an Epic in Durango with early gen tubeless tires. Front tire blew out at significant speed where there was a massive drop off by the creek. Completely lost control, did everything I could to fall on high side of trail but bounced off the cliff. I landed 15 feet down in the top of a tree. It was a very pretty place anyway!
Wow that’s a pretty crazy story glad you have a sense of humor about it
@@seanstuck572 Besides the random cow on trail and the tire issue, that was one of my favorite trails on that trip. Went to Silverton and Crested Butte the following days. That was my first time in Co.
Living the last 5 years of my life in Pagosa I know this is real and it’s scary.
Minute 1:57 portabeer 🤣👍🏽
Specialized have a lot of beautiful videos, but some riders who are not good at English can't read them, you can turn on the automatic translation function of youtube, thank you.
TH-cam is a global platform, please consider for those knights who really love Specialized, but are not very good at English, language should not be a barrier to culture.😁
Great bike , rides smooth th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L I added a bigger spring loaded seat to it . Takes a bit of adjusting cables to get brakes and shifting to perfect . I've owned quite a few bikes in the past that were absolutely uncomfortable to ride and they always ended up as garage wall decor . I'm not seeing that with this one. It's pretty light I've only ridden it a few miles but I like it . As for the pedals falling off in the other reviews , the pedal arms are aluminum along with the pedal studs look to be also . I would not overtighten them. I can see it would be very easy to overtighten them and strip the threads right off . All in all I think it's pretty good quality besides the aluminum pedal thing
Monoculture forests
If you are ready to do with less maybe we can make an impact. Many will say they will do with less, but not want to give up the comforts of modern society. Keep in mind tree huggers, polluting factories produce those bikes your riding, the clothes you have on your back, oh, and those solar cell you like so much.
What’s your point?
@@levirichardson8505 yeah seriously, I'd love to know.
// CRISPR the beatles to stop reproduction. Once the trees heal and the forest return the ecosystems will rebalance. ? ❄️
// correction, producing only male beatle, should clear the infestation within a couple of seasons.
Rea talk, What method would you use to perform that process on the beetle population?
Remember before climate change when there were no droughts or wildfires….
Pushing more leftist agenda
All great until the global warming comment..
What do you mean?
He means he’s a climate change denier conspiracy theorist
