I remember many years ago .A famous commentator commentating very seriously on a ceremonial parade .But he said " The Royal ARSE HORTILLERY " No one ever forget hearing that.!!
The sound of the of those guns & limbers with the rattle of the chains etc really sound great, even on here. Interesting the trumpeter carries a trumpet but blows a bugle, not noticed that before. Why do they salute & eye’s left at the palace when the king is not in residence, or is there a guard on parade their with colours flying?
Used to be it was bad form if you couldn’t mount by yourself or with a leg up, now it’s considered bad for both the horse & saddle. 😅being under 5 ft with tall horses, I’m relieved.
RESPECT to your mounted troops . I also want to draw attention to the partners of the mounted troops . The cost of War is obvious on the minds in regards to humans but how often do we overlook the very ones who helped make us what we are ? What are Dragoons/Cavalry without horses ? Infantry . NOT implying troopers do not care about their mounts because I believe the opposite , just that the general pubic tends to overlook the role of livestock and the cost involved .
The trumpeter was sent by the Commanding Officer at 8:44 to go back to the support vehicle to fetch a gunner on foot . Something needed checking. Don’t have enough information, but an earlier video posted here suggests a horse lost a shoe. I am only guessing. They had not yet galloped into Hyde Park to fire a salute and if that was so, they couldn’t use a horse missing a shoe for that.
@@Flash3-22 The troop horses , with the hogged manes, are NEVER 17 hands, because they can’t wheel sharply enough in harness. They are usually around 15.2-16.1. Officers’ horses are taller. He was a trumpeter, not an officer.

Now … I would LOVE to have one of their cartouches. They are beyond beautiful. I have one from the Napoleonic era; 95th Rifles.
Magnificent ❤
Just magnificent, I love it❤❤
The horses are magnificent, and they certainly seemed to enjoy the canter
Ms C: Trot, not canter!
More to the point a rising Trot!
They are some of the best cared for horses in the whole of the world.

The latter.
So just as the excitement starts, the video finishes! :(
wonderful views
I noticed they colour matched the horses as well 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Beautiful
There are some really lovely horses there including the police ones. A sight to behold.
4:52, it sounded like the horse had a kick stand like on a bike, before the guard was ready to mount the horse! Lol 😂
At least the bloke in the sensible uniform was fit enough to run the length of the parade.

Yup..all thar trying & your horse is going...get a leg up dummy😊 category of bin there dine that
Now we know it is hard on their backs, using a mounting block
is taught. Much easier for 16H horses.
When I was a truckie I would say "this is a big convoy"
The King Guard have responsibility to working☺️
Kings Troop not Guard
Magnificent
All very nice and very British but what was so unexpected?
That's what I would like to know
Always enjoy 💕🇬🇧🇬🇧
Wasn’t this for Ascension day? It would be unexpected for some tourists
And what happened next?

I'm surprised to hear them on steel shoes not rubber the amount of road work they do
No se ni una palabra de inglés , me pierdo los comentarios , q pensar
Where did the lady go to?

@@Roheryn100 Thanks.
@@phoebebrown2883 You’re welcome. It’s just a guess…
Why is your Thumbnail reversed?
Run Genghis khan coming with 100k cavalry 🏃
A potty break?
Unfortunately the beard allowed rule has resulted in some scruffy looking soldiers
no such thing as a kings guard
One woman too ft and unfit, can't mount the horse. What a disgrace.
It's a man
Wrong. But yes, it’s disgraceful a man can’t mount. Hubby, ex Gunner, could vault on anything.
Looked like a 17H horse.
And it was a guy.
