Looks like a holiday! Engineers have to work much harder and get their hands and faces mucky.
On older ships yes. On newer ships the Engine Room is highly automated so it's far less work

I don't think so. You must obtain a degree in marine engineering and pass the board exams in order be accepted as an official marine engineer, regardless of ranks, on board a ship (national or international)
Back to 1st year and then get all the subjects connected to BSMarE. Also depends on school
try looking for MARINE ENGINEERING BRIDGING COURSE around you
james casino not sure where your from but you will need a certificate of competency to sail as a officer on most vessels
After mechanical engineering...you can do GME course ...which is called graduate marine engineer course ....it would better if you do your GME course from DG approved institute..

Uhm... My papa is a marine chief engineer in cargo, my papa's work is really hard. Your family will be far away from you, but filipino are very strong and my papa is strong. Maybe that's why so many filipino marines now a days. Even the work is hard and need some sacrifices, they still choose this work.
