🛠Keeping Camponotus obscuripes in a stainless steel nest 🔩Oriari Factory hybrid flat nest

Up until now, I have often kept Camponotus obscuripes using plaster nests, but this time I tried keeping them using Oriari Factory's "hybrid flat nest" made of stainless steel and wood. The nest is built with a large humidified space, and it was found that Camponotus obscuripes, which lives in a slightly humid environment, can withstand the dryness of winter.
This is a very nice nest for Camponotus obscuripes! !

It's fun to see the regional differences in any keeping around the world. In North America or Europe it's rare to keep ants in such a large nest with a small feeding area. I might have to give it a try!

I am always jealous of the variety of nests for sale in Japan. How do you find the mesh section of the nest? I have a nest with a mesh section for Brachyponera lutea, but I don't think the ants like the mesh part in the nest as it is too wet, so they avoid it.

やはりムネアカオオアリは木の方が肌感覚で合いそうな気がします。これまで木製巣の課題だった加湿の問題が解消されてムネアカオオアリをより快適に飼育できる時代が到来した気がしますね( ^ω^ )
