      One of my favorite scenes... They get called in to talk to the school authorities about Richie's stories about where baby's come from. Then they get caught kissing in the principal's office.

    I like the way they tell the story of how Laura and Rob. Meet thru going together. Funny stories of up when they built the house with the rock in the basement.

      They didn't build the house.

    • @FrankiesFancy
      @FrankiesFancy 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The first responder was correct ...the house was part of a housing tract, a new development. But right away the realtor for the developer ripped them off by pumping up the price but they decided to take it because Laura was pregnant and was tired of looking for a new house. Rob and Jerry wanted to sue the builder because of the rock because rain water runs into Jerry's house and floods his basement but they each pay half of the sealant they have to put on Jerry's house so his basement won't flood because of Rob's rock. It's all in the episode "my house is your house" (may not be exact title but it's close). The Helpers got lucky with the model house next door coming up for sale when the original buyer stopped payment on the down payment check...it's a really good episode but listen to Rob telling his tax man the story...

      I'm glad I'm from Canada. I have photos of my Mom in the mid 1960s when we were on summer vacation and she was wearing short-shorts and she was about 40 ears old. Lots of Canadian women wore shorts in the mid 1960s and I never heard anything against it.

      My best friend was from around there. She and her mother were telling me one time, out in California, about how delicious "white dirt" was, so a year later when I was going to be near the area, I detoured down that way, stopped at a little roadside store in Loachapoka, picked up several little bags of white dirt, and mailed them out to California for Christmas. Oh, were they surprised!

    Rob is funny about his steak cooking 😂 My dad's family were practically barbecue wizards and he always said that in order to get a good fire going, you have to soak the charcoal with lighter fluid and let it sit for about 20 mins. Then you light the charcoal with the match. I remember when he'd enter barbecue cook offs and 4H contests and he would always win. But he would laugh and tell us about his competitors, because they always have trouble getting the fire started. Or keeping it going and would burn the meats and it would be raw and bloody inside. So to make up for the food gone wrong they would decorate it and make it look pretty. But that didn't work so well with the judges lol
    Nowadays you can buy charcoal with lighter fluid. But I guess back in the 1960's, it wasn't available? I think it was a new thing when I was a kid in the 90's.

I assume this referred to the 1940 version starring Victor Mature as the Raquel Welch one was actually done filming, but wouldn't be released until 1967. Yes. I started working in 1962 (secretarial) and wore gloves, hosiery and heels. Each payday spent about $5 at the hosiery shop for nylons for the next week (before no-run stockings), not to mention about $10 for dry cleaning wool dresses, sweaters, etc. Different times.

Just take a look at what they wear today! Those "dirty Hippies" sure messed things up. 🙄
