    Great video. I had a max 6 in my erevo 2.0 and it was a great ESC. However I got myself a castle mamba XLX2 and paired it with a TP Power 4070cm 2200kv motor and ran it on 8S and it has now turned into a fire breathing monster. Only managed to run it on less than 40% throttle and got 55mph on 20/46 gearing. I think it has 80/85mph in it.
    If you want an extreme power setup for your erevo 2.0, I can highly recommend this setup👍

      @@thomashernandez4027 I bought some smaller 4s packs from a company called Overlander who are based in the UK.
      I bought the 3900 35C packs which fit perfectly in the battery slots.
      They wont give quite the punch and power of the larger 5000mah plus 4s packs but you still get high octane 8s action👍

    Sweet, never thought you could use a plate to mount the ESC to the chassis, I always used double sided tape

    • @OverBudgetRC
      @OverBudgetRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. The esc wouldn't fit between the screws holes so it wouldn't sit flat with just double sided tape. I thought it might come off too easy

    What punch settings to you use? I have the max 8 in my e revo however it doesn't self right anymore. I'm wondering if it helps

    • @OverBudgetRC
      @OverBudgetRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It won't self right because it uses reverse to self right and you can only have 50% reverse with the hobbywing with the Traxxas esc it has 100% reverse. But to me the benefits outweigh having self righting.
      And my punch is set to 4

    I found your video because I was thinking about this conversion. Can I expect anything from from this swap besides cooler moto-temperatures?

    • @OverBudgetRC
      @OverBudgetRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Motor temps will go up a lot if you run 8s so i don't run 8s more than 10 minutes. And also on 6s motor temps would probably be a littel higher because it will have more power. In a later video i added a fan to the motor. If you are just trying to get motor temps down this probably wouldn't work. But i did it for more power on 6s and to occasionally run 8s for fun.

  • @ToiletduckX
    @ToiletduckX 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I didn’t have a lot of luck with this conversion, esc went into thermal regularly and still saw super high motor temps. I really think the erevo would benefit from the max6 1650kv large can motor.

    • @OverBudgetRC
      @OverBudgetRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya that would be a good setup this motor gets hot when I run 8s for a couple minutes i haven't had a problem with esc shutting down but I usually break it too fast lol

    How do you keep Temps down on the esc I've ran mine on 6s for 15 minutes and it starts over heating in 50 degree weather

    • @OverBudgetRC
      @OverBudgetRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really i haven't had that problem with this esc. I use it in my X Maxx and UDR too. I have a problem with the motor getting too hot. I usually only run about 10 minutes then switch rcs but thats to let the motor cool. And that was in 90 degree weather. So I'm not sure sorry.

  • @dexio8601
    @dexio8601 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How much of a difference in performance in the max 6 compared to stock esc?

    • @OverBudgetRC
      @OverBudgetRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The benefit of running this esc is to run higher gearing without overheating esc so it can go faster and accelerate faster with higher punch settings so it's more power overall with stock heating top speed is about the same which is what I run but that because I'll sometimes run it on 8s for a couple minutes just to have it stupid fast lol. You can't run 8s for more than that the motor will get too hot. If you don't ever plan on 8s the max8 would be good for this.

    Why did you use the spectrum capacitor? Do you need it

    • @OverBudgetRC
      @OverBudgetRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its a glitch buster it regulates the voltage to prevent spikes and drops to the receiver its supposed to keep the controls smooth. You probably don't need it but they are cheap so why not.

      @@Hirthirthirt I couldn't find find the same one i have i think they are out of stock but they all work the same. You plug it in to an open channel on the receiver make sure you match up the black and red wires to something else plugged in. Because you can accidentally plug it in backwards. On the traxxas receivers the outside edge is negative. Here is a link to one.

      User error mate. They are pretty much unbreakable, believe me I’ve tried with my max5/max6/xerun8/xerun10/quicrun10 etc.
      They go into protect instead of burning your car to the ground like castlecremations.
