I caught a Virginia Citation this afternoon! I got my new Ark Tharp Series B-Hittay rod yesterday, spooled it up with SPRO Gouken 16lb flouro, and threw a lipless crankbait on. What a fight! I am breaking down and buying a go-pro after today. Weighed in at 8 lb 7 oz, 22 & 3/4" length. I'm so stoked, and talk about breaking in a new rod!!
Gamakatsu Tournament Snap is easy to attach to your lure making Color and Size and Even different lure changes quick and Easy- Make sure to order Large tho- the Medium size is too damn small- They need to put these out in XL and XXL- American hands are larger Than Japanese hands and you don't want to screw around with these in Cold - Rainy- Windy Weather!!
Thanks Tyler for those helpful tips on the spybaits. Bought some back a couple years ago and wasn't sure how to fish them. Thanks again for the advice and now I'll have one tied on ready to throw!!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!! 🤠👍
I bought a single spy bait that was in stock at a local store to try since I had heard good things about it only to have my braid to leader knot hang in my guides on my 5th cast resulting in my bait flying half way across the pond😂
Threw a duo realis spin bait on a tough lake today. Caught three nice small mouth until i hooked a 5 lb catfish. Good fight but not what I wanted on a kayak.
Hey Tyler I was out on a lake close to me the other day and I lost a bunch of fish on a spy bait, any tips for keeping them hooked? I tried keeping my drag pretty loose and pretty tight, I don’t think I was throwing it on the right rod, I don’t have an ideal rod for it bc I barely throw it here in Texas.
First time I used one it was a tuff day on the water. So I tied one of these on and it got hammered. It just wasn’t what I was expecting it was a catfish lol. Boy did that cat hammer that bait tho.
When nothing else is working in my area I’ll use a hair jig when it’s dead calm. as soon as the wind picks up or it’s gets choppy on the water I go to a spybait. Those two baits get smashed for me depending on the conditions when nothing else is working
Depends on your lakes or fisheries but most use 10 pound braid to 8 or even 6 pound fluorocarbon leader. I know some guys that throw it on 6,7 or 8 pound straight fluorocarbon

Adding a snap is a must on spybaits. Night and day difference in action.
I use a snap on jerkbaits, crankbaits, spybaits, and bladebaits. Easy to switch and lets the lure move freely.
What about a loop knot?

I use a St. Croix Premier 7’ light/medium spinning rod with 10# braid and 8# mono bumper. Works great!
Another great video. Been thinking about trying one of these baits for a while now.

Don’t you get wind knots If the FG is on. The spool? I stopped do that when i got lots of wind knots😅
Been fishing spy baits for about 3 years, there bomb

How shallow can you fish these? I’m around a lot of shallow ponds and lakes
What pound braid and leader do you fish that on? BTW, great videos. Love learning new techniques.
