I hear this outside now. I know there is a pair of great horned owls, but these are new. I'm glad I can recognize an owls call when i hear it, because they can make some seriously terrifying sounds lol

For the first time in about 30 years of being around the house I grew up in, I finally started to see these wonderful owls! I had heard them my entire life, but now I see them almost everyday. It makes me so incredibly happy and comforted when I hear them. It's the strangest feeling of family and home, as if they're dear friends.

That first call was the very first owl laugh I've ever heard and that was a few weeks back. We had two owls that came and perched on a brach out back waiting to catch rats. I was amazed and I thought it was a dog barking but it was so loud that I heard it through a closed window.

We've been seeing these and hearing this sound every night for about 2 months straight. We have a big wide open back yard, so during the day we have hawks BUT at night the Barred Owls love to perch on our fence or on one of the huge oak tree branches that are super close to the ground...for easy swooping 😊. It's entertaining and just amazing to watch and listen to them.

Kimberly Thompson you have a healthy rodent population in your yard or near. I live in tennessee and like you have noticed increased hawks and owls this year. But mine is due to an explosion of brown rats and mice around the barnyard this year. Take heed if you have cats or small dogs. Lost a chihuahua last year to a barred owl.

To clarify my visit. Last night I heard a noise and looked up to see that 2 Owls were looking in at me on my screened patio! They were sitting on my pool deck, which is about 5 feet from my patio. I called my daughter and her friend to witness it. One of the owls seemed to be talking, if you will, and bobbing its head at me. I made the same motion, and it repeated it with me several times. Needless to say we were all amazed with them and their curiosity with us...or me!!

OMG, I think I am hearing the laughing right now! A nocturnal bird discovered my birdbath. I thought maybe it would be an eastern screech owl, because they do frequent my yard. But this one does not sound like an eastern screech owl, and I believe I may have identified him.
