Remember oden wasted 5 years practicing dancing instead of getting stronger while kaido got this much strong, and yet Oden still managed to even the outcome and could’ve possibly win if it weren’t for that cheap shot.

The fact that Kaido kept referencing the scar in his battle with the Akazaya Nine 20 years later and comparing them to their master in every way shows Oden really left a mark on him.

Oden Kozuki has been one of my favorite characters and this arc has not disappointed at all. Still it is bittersweet to know going in that his fate was sealed. So glad I made the decision to watch this show 3 years ago; I never thought I would catch up or even that it would hold my interest for so many episodes.

In my opinion. The first lethal strike was Oden trying to figure out what amount of force was needed to end Kaido with one shot. When he realized he needed more force after the first hit failed. The second strike would've killed Kaido.
The fact the old woman was put in to distract Oden is, in a writer's term, litteraly saying "If this didn't happen deadass kaido would have just died right there and then". Oden had to spend his time dancing and stop training and then the ennemy was tipped off to him coming to assassinate kaido AND THEN the old woman intervened. Odds stacking against Oden one after another.

Man, this is a man of honor, a type of human that is rarely seen throughout the history of the world. A warrior who willingly risks his life for the sake of his loved ones, a caring and loving father and husband, a dedicated protector of his country and the normal people that lives under his protection. This is Kozuki Oden, one of the best characters of Wano, and surely, one of my favorites in the entire series.

He is my best character in the series.

@@brianalvarez2739 Oden can easily have a spot on top 10 characters in One Piece, despite being only a character that we saw through a flashback.
He represents so many big themes of the series (freedom, adventure etc..) , he was also an inspirational figure, that did everything that he thought is best, to protect his family and the people of Wano. Oden is fkin amazing, Oda really did a fantastic job with his character.
Compared to super heroes, I've always found Anime characters like these to be the best kind of heroes and inspirations, even when they're like Luffy who isn't trying to be one. They carry all the right values: things like honor, respect, hope, fearlessness, dedication, willingness, and a code of right and wrong to live by.
They have a sense of purpose and dedication in their lives that allow them to live life to their fullest with so little regret, even facing death without fear. Even when they go through difficult times and face real change and growth, it doesn't take away the core of who they are. They show what it means to truly stand tall in a world always trying to bring them down. Also, they aren't afraid to be themselves and stick to their beliefs no matter what anyone says.

though oden can hurt kaido badly, the most recent chapter (as of posting this) we learn that you can cover yourself in conquerors haki, so you arent directly hitting them but you’re doing more damage than what you originally did. covering your self in conquerors haki doesn’t allow your opponent to get close to you unless your opponent can also cover them selves in conquerors, which is why it proves so useful (of course it buffs your damage by alot). we see a example of this in whitebeard and roger’s fight.
