*“After the plague, I’ll do this, after the plague I’ll do that… They are ruining their lives, instead of staying calm. And they don’t even realise what they have going for them... I think they are miserable because they don’t let themselves go.”* - Albert Camus

i finished reading it today. always knew about camus and picked up a copy because it got me a buy-one-get-one-free deal at a bookshop.
one of the most beautiful novels i have ever read. i need to start taking more chances with books because they might just change my life.

Such a beautiful novel by Camus it makes us see the situations from so many different perspectives. This video explains everything flawlessly. In these trying times when the world is dealing with a pandemic I was able to truly connect with this novel. You have my gratitude for creating such a beautiful video.

great book by Camus. Loved it...
so much similarities with our 2020 pandemic, how people felt it, change of daily life...
Great analysis of the book & great video btw, keep it up 👏

Camus leaves part of himself in every sentence he had had typed beyond the subject matter, it touches our inner core of oneness the individual within all humans an utter aloneness and the means we use to combat or enhance that emotion, its consequences. The Plague vividly brings all aspects of such universal phenomenon so common to each of us but so poorly understood or misunderstood throughout life spans of generations. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, version 👍💚

A real account of human destiny he depicted in his novel with a prophetic mind.

thank you. i get goosebumps when all that camus said is actually what happened even today, passively wasting time. government wait and see to instead of taking action.. its true that if you want to predict the future, you must go back to the past..

I was introduced to Albert Camus last year by another TH-cam Channel: School of Life. The Plague made so much sense as one lives through a real pandemic. All the characters (and their backstories) are greatly devised.
"It is the absurd condition of intense desire to continue living and condemned to death." Woah!
    I didn't know about Cottard though 🤓

During the Sarscov2 pandemic makes it an excellent read and life lesson.
It'd be awesome if a movie or tv series was filmed based on the novel.

Please may you consider doing a video on Devils by Dostoevsky?

Thank you. I might do some shorter Dostoevsky books just because of a time constraint. Hopefully in the future I can do his big novels.

Thank you. It really depends on what philosopher or branch of philosophy you like. I for instance like existentialism, stoicism, Carl Jung and eastern philosophy. I've made a list of books I'd like to read here: eternalisedofficial.com/books
I may do videos in the future on the top 5 or 10 existentialist books to read, still need to do some reading though! It may be a good idea to read an introduction to the philosophy as well such as a Cambridge Companion.

@@Eternalised that’s a really great list. We have very similar interests. I own half the books on it and most of the rest are on my reading list as well.

Camus excelled in writing genuine " philosophical " novels . Many others have tried ( Sartre / Iris Murdoch etc ) but in my opinion he is the only one who
succeeded in combining the elements of the novel with his philosophical
views. Not sure about Beckett ? Was he a serious philosopher or simply a
misanthrope ? Albeit a misanthrope who could turn a phrase.. ?
