    Most under-rated Harley ever. Everybody wants that clamshell custom look, but on a bike this fast, mid controls are much better. They made 2 factory versions with em (D "Nightrod" & R Streetrod) or a ~$500 HD conversion. I have an 06 "D" with about 55k miles on it. Everyone should at least test ride one HARD. You. Will. Love it.

    Night Rods are the only Harleys that I think actually look amazing.

    Ive never rode the 109. But the v rods are cool. They have good hp. They look kinda funny though I think in the tank, the bars. They have that short but still raked out front tire.

    I have an 07 Night Rod Special.
    Everywhere I go I get compliments, a lot of people are surprised to find out its a Harley.
    My bike is lowered on progressive shocks, 250 avon tire (wider than the 260 Metz), lower head light from MS Bike tec, Tab Slashcut exhaust.
    The bike rips, i raced an R6 that had slip ons, was about 2 bikes back. Not bad considering an R6 is almost 300lbs lighter.

      @gravelslinger9331 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Foot control preferences depend on your riding style. I tested a Night Rod with mid controls in 2014, and I don’t like them. The way I ride, i’m scraping foot pegs. My forward controls on my 2016 Night Tod NEVER SCRAPE, and the Len angle is DEEP!! “So Way Down We Go!!”

  • @TwogunzChamp1

    I really like this bike a lot man. I think the night rod is a little better looking than the muscle version of the v rod. I do however love my m109r, but I'm not a hater of any bike. Gotta ride what u like and what u can afford. Lol😄. If I had the bread I would own several bikes bro!!! Love your videos man, ride safe.

    Bought a new '16 Muscle back in June. I absolutely LOVE the bike. Rock solid, head turner, faster than necessary! V Rod is the best bike ever made by H-D in my opinion. So needless to say I'm devastated that H-D is discontinuing V-Rod after next month (Oct. 2016). I know in a few years or so when I want a new and/or improved one, they won't be there :(.

    • @BikeLifeSikMotoVlogs
      @BikeLifeSikMotoVlogs  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      they're discontinuing it? why would they do that. theres got to be a decent market for it. unless theyre replacing it with something similar

    • @bly4233
      @bly4233 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      BikeLifeSik There is some hatred for the VRod within the company. Also, they keep making it more Harley-like as the years go on, when the best things about it are the differences. Weight goes up, fat tire hurts handling, no more mid controls...they keep trying to appeal to typical Harley guys when they are not the demographic. I don't get it.

    • @MrWhatahelisdis
      @MrWhatahelisdis 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      V Rod is the top selling bike in Australia and I'm sure they sell well here in the US. I just can't imagine why they would totally abandon the platform. Unless they're bringing it back in a few years as a better/updated V Rod.

  • @monetda-introverted-guru6376

    I just bought that same night rod special 2 months ago and the bike is legit. I test rode the Vmax, M109, Night rod and the V-rod muscle with in 2 days. The Boulevard is fast but the display is garbage. Don't understand how anyone is comfortable looking DOWN to see everything but nonetheless I enjoyed the BOSS. I picked the Night rod because to me it looked meaner and when I first hit the throttle I busted me about 3 nuts. I like the night rod tank because it is so narrow and it will move quick BUT the heat from the Muscle and night rod is serious especially if your riding in 90+ degree heat in traffic. I like the riding position. It doesn't bother me at all (5'9 190). The Muscle is a wider bike and turning it takes a little bit more "muscle" than the Night rod plus you can lean the night rod over more than the muscle. The night rod exhaust had to go with in 2 weeks of buying the bike. Felt like I was riding on the star trek enterprise because it was so quite. I put an Akrapovic exhaust on it and it sounds like a mix between an inline four and a classic harley exhaust. The sound is def unique. I'll say its one of the best power cruisers out no doubt. Oh yea i did not like the Vmax. While it has RAW POWER that will make your ass hole tight while in the seat, you sat high as hell and it felt like I was going to bust my ass turning it not to mention the Vmax is one ugly bike in my opinion. Great review my man and keep up the good work

    • @mexinot2291
      @mexinot2291 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      How do you like the akra exhaust? What tunner did you use. I have a 2014 night rod and i love it! Ride safe!

    • @monetda-introverted-guru6376
      @monetda-introverted-guru6376 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I love the Akrapovic exhaust. Its a true performance exhaust that brings the night rod to life. Stainless steel headers with a titanium muffler makes the exhaust super light not to mention people are always complimenting it.It is expensive though. I believe I paid close to a grand for it. I used the Dynojet power vision tuner for the Night rod. Its a new tuner just for HD's and its "plug, play and take off". Once you have tuned it you simply take it out and thats it. I also took the bike to a dyno to smooth her out. Got about 14 HP and 8 lbs torque increase. By far one of the best bikes i've ever had.

    I have owned both m109r and Vrod muscle and I think you better ride the m109r again before you say Nightrod faster. I still to this day being a muscle owner with pipes and Dyno tune and hi flow intake 111.53hp to the tire.say the m109r is feels more powerful. It would destroy a Vrod to 60. Top speed is different story however but Suzuki speed governed it.

    • @BikeLifeSikMotoVlogs
      @BikeLifeSikMotoVlogs  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I definitely agree. The m109 bottom end is alot more powerful. The vrod has the top end. I think it comes down to the type of riding you do. I like both bikes alot. Im wanna own both at the same time lol thanks for watching

    I personally own the 2016 VROD NITEROD and let me tell you.
    I'm 330~ and it pulls hard with me on it.
    Faster than any stock 600 and below sport bike all day.
    And you didn't even WOT it till the last few seconds. Wait till you ghost shift it at 55 then look down and immediately be at 85, in second gear.

    • @thetechbeekeeper
      @thetechbeekeeper 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Bro, Im 300 lbs, pulls hard as a good thing? I'm looking to purchase my first bike between night rod and m109r, suggestions?

    • @ItsBigRickSon
      @ItsBigRickSon 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Christopher Haskins pulls hard meaning it gets to 100 mph quick for a 1250cc Harley, I've actually pulled on a few 600cc sport bikes.
      The VRod is being discontinued after October of this year, because of sales and marketing, but if you want a quick Harley that you can keep up with some sport bikes and be comfortable, then go for it! With some motor mods you can be upwards of 200hp on the Porsche V-Twin, and with a turbo, you'll exceed even that!
      The VRod is around 16,500, but you can possibly get one for about 14,000 brand new. Anything more and they are just stealing your money.
      I haven't read or seen much of the M109R but I hear they are quick. But I'm going to look over TH-cam for 1/4 times and such. The Harley nite rod with a middle weight experienced rider can reach 10.87 at 125mph in the 1/4 mile. Some are doing right over 11 at 117-120mph.
      The VRod is a great looking bike and the 9200rpm rev line is glorious! Doesn't sound like a traditional air cooled Harley and has a NASTY (awesome) sound when pipes are added or even just slip on tips!
      On paper stock it's 123hp at 83ftlbs but some have been on the dyno stock making 135hp at 89ftlbs.
      I'll be right back to let you know which I would pick.

    I came across your video today and couldn't stop laughing my ass off.. I'm a proud owner of a Harley and a M109r, its hard to compare the bikes because there really two different rides.. if you want to go straight power and torque its the m109r hands down.. the ride on the m109r is a little rough compared to the Harley. so when I just want to hit the high way and ride till im out of gas I just on the Harley .. but the one thing you didn't talk about was the price.. the m109r is around what 12k and the Harley is around 17k

    • @marcunger805

    • @draganm7823
      @draganm7823 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have two great bikes. I compared them also and found the HD worth the extra cash necause it handles much better and is also faster even in a straight line, but its not all about speed.I didnt buy the V rod because that year the v rod only offered the Nightrod and Muscle, and I wasnt a fan of the Muscle at that time or all black Nightrod. So I bought a HD Night Train. Doesnt have the power but didnt give me any problems. Enjoy your rides and ride safe.

      I test rode the hammer in '13 and vrod muscle . muscle is faster and smoother and more comfortable. vrod is one model and nite rod is another model...vrod muscle and niterod special... the power specs r different as well. vrod is 122hp niterod is 125hp...vrod is more torque tho

    • @doylee469
      @doylee469 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vrod is faster but has alot less low end torque, the hammer is punchy as hell... you womp on the throttle once and it rockets you forward, doesnt need to be revved because its powerband is down low... which means that arm bending torque is always available

    The question people should ask themselves is do you want the genuine article or a knock off. The Japanese motorcycles have been trying to copy Harley Davidson for years and have never got it quite right. Harley Davidson's are the most customized bike in the industry. There are so many things you can do with them, it's just a matter of personal preference. When determining weather someone should purchase a Harley Davidson, you should never rely on Harley haters, their opinion is skewed and inaccurate. Take the time to investigate it on your own and I am sure you won't regret it.

    • @KiloCharlieOne
      @KiloCharlieOne 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's not a fair argument. No such thing as knock off motorcycles. You may have made something first, but that doesn't make it better, and also popularity doesn't make it better either. I do run a run a Harley Soft tail, but also have a Honda VLX 600. Enjoy both.

    • @dragan4658
      @dragan4658 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      absolutely correct! it's a matter of personal preference and HD is the most customized bike worldwide no matter what HD haters say....we know it and so do the HD haters, they just won't admit it...HD rules. ride what you like and like what you ride, just ride man just ride..ride safe.

    Wheres the torque, hp gets boring... not a fan of water cooled dohc cruisers. My yamaha raider is simply more fun because punchy bikes are better then hp bikes... look how much that thing revved out. Nice review buddy, looks like you had fun

    Feelin’.. all of ‘dat!!!...👍🏾..the Night Rod IS the sh#%*ttt!!!
    Cool-ass bike for cruising,..styling & “off the line” ass whopping!...🏍💨🏁
    A shame Harley decided not to continue the model,...bad decision I’ll bet and they will return in some form...ran for what? 19,..20 years!!...they had something that appealed,..kept them afloat!! The new bikes are way too expensive for the general population too enjoy owning...🔥👎🏾😠😒😔
    ☝🏾For today’s market,..they best rethink🖊📐🔍📁⚙️🔩🔧🧰 their trajectory or die trying what they are now thinking to succeed...🏍💨☁️⚡️📈📉💸

    a 250 sport bike would put that to shame!

    • @dlat69
      @dlat69 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hmm... Not so bro. 250cc bikes average 0-60 around 5 to 6 seconds. After 70 it tends to go brrrrrrrr.
      V-Rod 0-60 under 4 secs. After 70 it goes Vrrrrrrr!
      Sure you can easily flick a 250 around, pop the front up, do a back flip and all that, but soon as you hit highway speeds it's not a lot of fun. 250's and the new kawai 300 are great bikes but different cats.
      The only shame is trying to compare apples to oranges.
      Ride Safe.

    If you need a supercharger to keep up with the stock muscle bike I'm not impressed besides Carpender racing make super chargers and turbo charger for my bike that can do eight second quarter miles if you don't believe me check TH-cam the reality is victory magnum versus my bike stock to stock would get destroyed

    cruisers that are faster.. Yamaha vmax, Suzuki 109r, triump rocket roadster , Harley still the slowest of all muscle cruisers.. if you really want a true muscle cruiser , the Yamaha vmax will beat every cruiser out there, the only one that comes in 2nd is triump rocket 3 which is what I have .. if you want raw power that's the only 2 choices you have every thing else is slower I can beat every cruiser I have come across and have with a smile on my face, but to tell the truth I have raced Yamaha vmax and I cant beat them but I give them a good fight... but HEY, my bike the second fastest cruiser in the world, so if only 1 cruiser can beat me I can live with that.....

      who cares.. a person who wants to buy a muscle cruiser but don't know who builds the most powerful, nothing wrong with a vrod just not enough power for me, if I wanted the most powerful could have got a Yamaha vmax but it was 5000 more so bought 2nd fastest.... nothing wrong with 4th palce vrod

      Rode a Rocket III. Nowhere near as fast. V Max, yes it's faster. But it looks like someone threw a bunch of pop bottles at it (my humble opinion). Not everyone buys bikes for their 0-60 times. Although, V Rod is in the top tier in that category.
