    How much would this job cost parts and labor total?

    • @Unintendedacceleration
      @Unintendedacceleration  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I know that I personally have about 7k in parts invested, $750 for rental fees just from BMWTIS alone and a lot of hours. I would guess 8-10k but bmw didn’t even want to touch it, they told me to buy a new engine 🤦‍♂️. Maybe someone else can chime in that has paid for something similar

    hey what process did you get your engine block and heads cleaned ?

    Hi...did u find out what was the cause of the rod knock/spun bearing when u rebuild the engine? Was it a faulty high pressure vanos lines, vanos pump or previous owner drove it with low oil?

    • @Unintendedacceleration
      @Unintendedacceleration  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe low, it’s hard to say though because the dealership put new rod bearings in and did an oil change to mask the knock

      @@Unintendedacceleration wow that’s pretty shady...I got semi spun bearing on cylinder 2 and doing old skool polishing the crank with wet 800-2000 grit with shoe lace..so u still using same vanos lines, vanos and oil pump and everything working out?

    • @Unintendedacceleration
      @Unintendedacceleration  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I replaced all that when I was in there. Ya I wish I could of sanded but there was like a 2 thousandths step where the bearing was.

    • @Unintendedacceleration
      @Unintendedacceleration  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it was $800 and he did a great job....well I guess time will tell but it looked awesome. By far the best route.

      @@Unintendedacceleration no i need a new crank, you cant see it but im crying lol, i have the full pdf manual for the car and all the training documents and Original Tis so if you need anything just give me a shout at arokiam.austin@gmail.com

    • @Unintendedacceleration
      @Unintendedacceleration  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Send your crank to Lang racing development . Cheapest option by far at $800. There’s a tool I didn’t have that you can see in the repair instructions in the TIS that holds the camshafts where they were, I’d buy that and make sure of course to use the timing tools to hold the vanos gears at disassembly, that would of sped my process significantly. I know this can be a very expensive endeavor and I have the ECS TUNING receipts to prove it haha, so if you need to use my timing tools when you get to that point let me know. And don’t get too down, it’s just an engine....

    Thats the only proper way of doing the job. Forget just changing out rod bearings as it never works out.

    • @Unintendedacceleration
      @Unintendedacceleration  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct but when you know the crank is damaged and still do it to sell the car that’s just being dishonest.
