You didn't mention the police. They will arrest you for a DUI, even if you haven't been drinking.

I left because of the Californication going on. I'm an independent, but the vote blue no matter who also sucks. You can't have an open discussion with the liberals here. The city was beautiful, and the people were cool. Now. I come to town only if I have to. I don't want to offend anyone not my goal. I am just giving my perspective. I really do miss the FortCollins I use to know.

Lots of changes for sure. What’s wild from what we’ve seen is sure a fair amount of Californians, but more from the East Coast, Texas, Florida’s and Northwest. I still see it as very friendly, open and willing to welcome people. Hope to keep that mindset.

I'm consistency shocked that roads like College and Trilby don't have pedestrian sidewalks and you have to walk on the highway/next to high speed traffic. like whatttttt tf.

Hey Patric, awesome video. Like always. We traveled all us for 6 month in an RV and then after that we decided to move out from Florida. We watched all Patric videos (well I listen to) while driving between towns during that trip. After an extensive research we decided for Colorado and then my wife decided for Fort Collins, right at the middle of the housing issues (being sold for more than they go into the market, cash offers, etc) But we ended up getting an awesome house, with the help of Patric an his team. Not just because he is good at what he does BUT, because his NAME means something locally. We lived here in Fort Collins for more than 2 years now. With that background said, here is our/my "Downside" of living in "FoCo" (every person, family, entity group, cultural group, etc has their own views, needs, etc, so for sure you may find some of my things silly or good :D)
This has no particular order, just as they come to my mind:
    - We mostly cook at home (we come from argentina with family that came from italy/spain/germany, so that our normal), but, we miss the wide options of "real/decent" food at "normal prices" After you take the chains, and the "fake mexican" restaurants out of the list, you have a couple of good restaurants here in FoCo, but they are into the high price range. Those restaurants that you go for a birthday, and you go out with a 250+ ticket. This does not impact us too much, because we prefer, by far, cook at home, but sometimes when you are tired and you want to get decent food and not spend 50+ for 2 ppl, is difficult to find in FoCo.
    - Public transport: Non existent. Is like in florida, or to be honest, like 80% of US. There are so little cities with good public transport, and those are the bigones. So dont expect good public transport in what is "medium/small" city (compare with the bigones) here in the us. But not just the bus. Getting an uber may be complicated too. I opened the app couple of time just to see 1 or 2 cars in the entire city. and forget it at late times. And DEFINITELY forget to get an uber to the Airpot.
    - Airpot! We were used to have 1 Airport at 30 mins and another at 15 mins in florida. Here is 1 hour 20 mins average to get to the airport. The combi service is getting better. But getting visits that are not too good with technology or moving around in a new city, is going to be a 3 hours trip (up, picking up and down). And you need to jump into a toll highway that is very expensive, or you will need to add an extra 20 mins on each direction.
    - This is a silly one: Speed cameras. The city have 2 civil cars that parks in very specific streets, The ones that looks like big avenues, that have huge lanes, but they are marked 25 MPH. So, is incredible easy to drive there at 30. (I saw cars at 45 or more). And if you dont spot those cars, you will get a 40 U$ ticket. I'm a recent father. and I came back from the clinic to pick up some Cloths for my wife. I got 2 tickets, same street. 30 on 25 zone. You see the video and it looks like I'm pushing the car... but then on Wednesday and Thursdays, kids from the University do drag racing on the main Av (College), or you see a group of Motorcycles racing between traffic. That made me furious, those two tickets, for 5 and 6 miles difference. Anywayy...
    - High paying jobs is a real thing, BUT, is like 90% in the entire florida :D. We habe big companies here, HP, Broadcom, Intel. and we are in a Remote Work era (I work remote, my wife too). While it is not the best, is definitely no the worst city for high paid jobs, and is definitely a tech city.
    - Shops: Again, used to florida that you have 4 Ross, Publix, Fresco Y Mas, Aldi, etc. Here in FoCo you have 1 Ross, we HAD 1 Macys (they close), 1 big Home depot and one small, 1 lowes. etc. Chain shops are limited, and looks like some are struggling to keep open.
    - Amazon Delivery (another SUPER silly thing): Amazon has their main warehouse in denver (1 hour) and a second small distribution center in Loveland (30 mins). I dont typically use overnight or same day delivery, but sometimes you need that and you expect that. The sameday/overnight amazon system is ppl picking up packages on their own car from the main warehouse (yes, in denver), so like 80% of the time, they go out for delivery and drivers give the package back to the warehouse since, of course, they wont drive 1 hours for 1 package. It is silly, but being a father, the lack of local options to buy the product, and the lack of time to go there too. If you are an Amazon addict (i'm not I hate them, but sometimes (most) is the only option), you may find out that is very irritating that the next day delivery is offered but almost never arrive on time.
    - CIty Clean after snow: We are new to snow, I mean, living and waking up to it. We spend time in several cities that snows, and we go used that the city cleans MOST streets. Here in Fort Collins, they clean the main avenues, and thats it, so if you are couple of blocks from one, you may drive over a thick layer of snow (hope you have a awd/4x4), to get to a clean street to drive "safer". Every year because of the university "new snow drivers" comes to the city, with 4x2 cars with summer tires, and Zero respect for self preservation, that in top of iced/snowed street is not a good combination. I'm ok to driving on snow, but when my wife needs to go to a place and I can't driver her, I'm always worried that some person couldnt stop at a sign and hit her. I saw that several times, in person. And I lived here for 2 winters.
That small and silly list is the things that I may/we find as "Downside"
I want to add, that the community here and in most North colorado is beyond amazing. Patrick is one example of that. But my wife jumped into a FB group for moms, and we received SO MUCH help. People here are waiting to jump to help and care. and is contagious. We found a lot of diversity. Yes is not Florida (thanks to that), but there are a lot of communities if you know how to search (not hard!). There is a BIG brazilian community, we found a lot of Argentinians too, Colombian, and so on. You can jump into a MeetUp (app) and find an event that you like and start socializing, or like my wife, she plays soccer, and we made a HUGE list of INCREDIBLE friends during this 2 years. Friends that were with us during hard times already.
Every single day, I woke up thinking "I'm SO glad that we moved here" I know it sounds cheesy, but is 200% true.
    Other notes:
Whoever complains about traffic in FoCo, definitely needs to live in any other city, like any. Even Loveland. Here in FoCo traffic in the worst day, is like the pandemic days in florida. I drove, with a trailer in more than 36 cities, and Fort Collins must be one of the best in traffic. If you find an aggressive drivers, or is a rental car, or tag from texas/florida or is someone that came from denver :D

I've lived all over the country and fort collins is trash. super expensive, super congested, mostly snobby people, absolutely deplorable food quality and prices at restaurants, terrible weather the majority of the year, nonstop wind. Anyone who lives here and enjoys it has not experienced living in a good city in the US.

This post is ridiculous! The guys post title is " Why Fort Collins sucks" He then begins his laundry list of why it sucks,, and those reasons are really nothing in the grand scheme of things. What really makes his post ridiculous is that after each point, of why fc sucks , he begins a diatribe of the positive selling points of Fort Collins. His post is about why Fort Collins sucks, but the overall impression I get is that it is a fantastic place to live! And it is!! How do I know? Because I lived there for nearly 20 years!

I’m surprised by your point on the food diversity. For a smaller city I think there are some great options. I went to Young’s cafe before leaving and I think it is better than most viet places in Chicago. I also have Beijing noodle, chopstickers, and El Diablo on my list to visit.

From my understanding (and that is limited - my mom is a nurse and wife an OT) and me having just went to the ER last night at 2:30AM, it SEEMS like there are ample opportunities. The major providers are UCHealth, Banner and Kaiser Permanente. Many of the smaller privately owned operations are getting bought up by the big boys. I don't have SUPER good intel on DSP and Caregiver jobs, but we DO have an aging population with a growing need. One of the more popular developments in Fort Collins is memory care centers, senior housing... Hope this helps!
