    were you running plates in the carrier? I want to get something that I can use now as a chest rig and do more research on plates before I pull the trigger. Thanks

    • @HarleyWood23
      @HarleyWood23  4 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      I only had IIIA plates during testing. I shot all my rifles plates for YT videos. Haven’t replaced them yet.

      @@HarleyWood23 thanks I will do that. I'm just an average Joe myself but I like to be prepared. have you worn this without the plates? If so, is it functional/comfortable?

    • @HarleyWood23
      @HarleyWood23  4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Oh yeah. It’s much more comfortable without that added bulk. If you’re only concerned with pistol threats, IIIA is the way to go. They're much lighter and more flexible.

    • @brentd6891
      @brentd6891 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Just get hesco L210s, 4401s, or RMA 1155s. Wearing a plate carrier without plates is dumb, just go chest rig if you're going to do that. Get special threat or level 4 plates that aren't steel. Be prepared to wear it often, because getting used to 14lbs of plates (unless you have a 1k+ budget, in which case plates get much lighter - e.g. hesco 3810) and magazines is not easy.

    Honestly your test is a pretty good one for the average person, in the army a lot of the time I was wearing armor I was digging holes or clearing brush to set up defenses so testing comfort and move-ability is a big factor for good kit.

    After using my Agilite K5. It is a very good carrier. Well built and doesn't have the cheesy elastic webbing on the cummerbund like most plate carriers. But now I am looking into the K19 for the easy on easy off tubes.

    It is the algorithms of your previous google searches. Literally google anything random a few times and then watch over the week the ads keen to those searches. Same goes for TH-cam
    Either way do love the honesty

    • @HarleyWood23
      @HarleyWood23  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yes and no. I hadn't searched anything even remotely related. Yes, that is one way of targeting ads though. I've been employed in Digital Advertising for 13 years. I know exactly how they can be targeted which is why it caught my eye. The manufacturers can hardly keep up with demand right now, as is evidenced by the long lead times. Because it was a hot trending topic, they're pouring marketing dollars into targeted audiences with certain attributes and interest profiles. It's scary how much data we have on users across all channels, from purchase propensities to interest profiles. Instagram knows what I'm likely to respond to, and they serve up ads accordingly.

    The first 30 seconds, I know the feeling and I am ex-infantry. The reason why you are seeing a whole bunch of plate carrier, body armor, etc ads on places like instagram, is because within their code (facebook), they are collecting your data (looking over your shoulder) monitoring the sites you visit.

    The reason guys run plate carriers with the shoulder straps closer to the neck is for getting your rifle into the pocket of your shoulder comfortably without the strap getting in the way. Not saying it’s the best way to go but that’s what I’ve heard from most guys to have been running rigs for awhile.

    I’ve seen a lot of plate carriers over the past 10 years and based on what I saw in this video this thing is the bees knees. It seems that everything was absolutely thought out through and through. My back is in horrible condition and it will only get worse because of my spinal disease. You can only deal with the cards that you were dealt and play the best game that you can. I will only be able to run level 3A and anything that I own. Perhaps one day technology will eventually Catch up and we can finally get some of that body armor the military was testing all those years ago trying to find a way to militarize spider webbing. Yes I know it sounds like a big screen TV movie plot which would be awesome, but it was the real deal.

    I just got mine, and I love parts of it, but hate one thing. IT DOES NOT FIT SMALL PLATES (despite what the website says). They slide around, and the retention mechanism inside (is a joke, and) is only good for the 10x12 plates . Everything else about it is nice. I'm 5'9" 160lb and it fits well, but I have maxed out the adjustment mechanism. If I was any smaller, it would be too big.

    Can you show yourself shooting with this thing on?? I don't doubt that the carrier is great but what is it like to shoulder a rifle with it?

  • @jonnyt16
    @jonnyt16 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just curious, when you did all that testing did you have actual plates in the carrier? Makes a big difference. Also, most importantly, how does shouldering a rifle (again, with plates in it) feel? I've found that most plate carriers, especially ones with buckles on the straps force me to have an inconsistent buttsock to shoulder weld. At the very least a different should position from when I'm not wearing a carrier.

    Stupid question. Does the K19 come with plates? $270 is what they’re asking, and that’s about what I paid for my operator II carrier with two 10x12 AR500 lvl 3 plates. If not, do you know of a less cumbersome, more affordable carrier than the condor that can accommodate the plates I already have?

    • @HarleyWood23
      @HarleyWood23  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This does not come with plates but yours will work. I take it you have steel plates?

    • @JohnWicksPencil14
      @JohnWicksPencil14 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      HarleyWood Yes sir, and after watching your review obviously this is a very high quality carrier that is just not in my budget right now, and there is a +20 week lead time on them. I’m going into law enforcement and am in the market for a streamlined easy in and out kit. I was just looking at the AR500 Veritas and Veritas lite which are a lot more affordable, although I’m not fully sold just yet.

      @@HarleyWood23 several items but mainly a SPARTAN AR550 BODY ARMOR AND TACTICAL RESPONSE KIT
      Or a Safelife Defense vest.
      I've been cross shopping several brands and Spartan seemed the best value, price wise.
      Now I'm considering a K19 carrier with Spartan AR500 plates. At a grand total of $470ish. Which is about $200 more than the whole Spartan set.
      But the k19 looks more thought out, and more comfortable.
      The savings would come from the probable disappointment and cost of replacing the Spartan with something else. Like how we spend hundreds of dollars on holsters before we find just the right one 👌
      Your review addressed key issues, especially the ones I'd forgotten about.

    If you were a prepper you would still practice gun manipulation. Just because people do mag changes does not mean they’re pretending to be something they are not. They are just practicing their Second Amendment right to act as a militia as they should.
