There is no way a case worker was looking in on her or looking in on her properly. That amount of hoard does not happen overnight. They would have gotten her help sooner if they were going in that house. And nobody hears from her for 2 weeks and doesn’t do anything?! If I don’t hear from my sister for more than 2 days I’m getting ready to drive the 15 hours to her house or at least calling the local police for a wellness check. We are a throw away society, especially with our elderly. I hope she’s at peace now 🙏

We've been always a throw away society, especially with our elderly. It's a scary fate that awaits all of us in the United States. Will I have enough money and mental facilities to protect myself, or will I spend the last 5 - 10 years of my life in a hell of humiliations and degradation? It remains to be seen.

Seems like she was a QVC shopper.
Extra sad because it seems like she was pretty organized at first. All her puzzles were neatly placed away, she obviously didn't like the filth because she bought cleaning supplies. I imagine her health caused a decline in the state of her home. All just speculation of course.

The salvaging of saleable items from the house will help her pay your fees, validate some of the hoarder's belief in the value of what she collected (although it got out of control), save space in the landfill and prevent all of these useable items from being wasted. The books could have been donated to a local library, or a used book store, but no... so sad.

Wow! All those new things. Brings me back to when I was 16...I was hired to help clean up a hoard by a neighbor. They couldn't afford professionals and were too embarrassed but ready for change. They had brand Xmas gift for kids...like good ones. Pottery wheels, electric cars, paint sets, power wheels (5 of them) all jeeps. Verry expensive ones... all the gifts were top notch. One item was a mini dirt bike....they could find the gifts they bought early so they just bought more when it came time to give them. We found 2,000 buck in coins and cash, 700 buck in expspired lottery scratch offs, checks that were written out totaling over 7grand. They were lost. Its crazy how bad it can get. I loved being able to help them.... they did great for 6 years...when I moved away from next door...they got bad again. They got evicted eventually. New people demoed the house. So sad but new peeps did a great job.
