    My dad has been suffering through alcoholism my entire life. Last year I spent so much time at the hospital with him, picking him up off the floor of his apartment soaked in feces and urine, walking in to his apartment to see tums and Gatorade bottles and cigarettes littering the place.... He seems to be doing better right now, but there was a great deal of time where I was terrified I would discover his body when I went over to visit him.
    You guys are heroes, undoubtedly making this situation so much easier for his family, while being so respectful and non-judgmental. You guys doubtlessly make these situations to much easier on the family and I have so much respect for yall. Keep up the hard work.

      I’m glad doing better. My dad has also been a bad alcoholic my entire life. I remember him being drunk a lot. I remember crying and telling him I bagged him when he drank. I remember the time he picked my up covered in blood 4 hours late From the sitter because he was drinking and driving and crashed into a phone pole. I’m grateful that he isn’t at that point where there is urine and feces on the floor. He’s always been a functioning alcoholic. He also has COPD and has a hard time breathing. I doubt he’ll ever stop drinking

      Same here,my youngest memory as a child was walking past him drunk passed out on the couch scared for my little life,I loved him very much. I spent my entire adult life worrying about him,picking him up to stay with us after suicide threats and so many drunk episodes. Finally it all caught up to him when I got that call we all dread ,he was found dead covered in his own messes. I will never forget that smell of death when i kissed him goodbye in that black death bag in the warmest cooler I've ever been in. He was my daddy and through all the alcoholism and bad times i still have many good memories too and lots of happy times . I loved him so much and he did stop drinking for a 5 year period all on his own,but when my mom died out of the blue (heart attack, never drank) he just gave up. They were soulmates ,together from high school to death,hopefully together now in a better place. I hate alcohol, it destroys lives,and families.

      Reminds me of that case where a daughter was shot through her wall while sleeping. The dad heard a noise and went and checked on her. Opened her room and saw she was in bed and assumed she was sleeping and went to sleep. The mom discovered her daughter deceased when she went to wake her up for school. The noise the dad heard was his daughter being shot, but he thought she was asleep. So sad.

When she said they were in a long term relationship and the woman "gave him some space" and then came to check on him, I assumed that meant she was staying somewhere else and not in the same house. I'd be worried sick if I hadn't seen the people I live with for 1 full day, let alone multiple days. Even if I'm not getting along with the person, I'd still need to know that they're ok.

    • @ThePopopotatoes
      @ThePopopotatoes 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It seems to imply they were basically estranged for a while in the same house. I've known some people who have had to live with their exes until a lease runs out, and they always just did their best to avoid each other. I imagine adding alcoholism to that mix would ensure she stayed away as much as possible. Without knowing the exact layout of the house its hard to determine how much they could avoid each other. If there is a second master and a second kitchen for example they wouldn't see much of each other.

    Liver disease can cause vomiting of blood from esophageal varices.

    • @sistahcool3533
      @sistahcool3533 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      100%. My godfather had an esophageal varices 'explode' all over him, my dad found him sitting on his couch, covered in dried bloody emesis, he was trying to put on his pants after a five day bender, my dad figures he'd been there for about 4 days when he found him, he said he knew he was dead the minute he opened the door (by the smell). Was mid July when he died. His father died the EXACT same way, and creepily enough, so did his daughter about 2 years later.

    • @hello_lydie
      @hello_lydie 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      That's exactly what my 1st thought was. The vessels in the esophagus become enlarged, thinned out, and under pressure from the liver disease which also causes the inability of blood to clot ( clotting factors are made in the liver). Unfortunately it is a recipe for disaster. I had a patient who was only about 34 yrs old, but a life long alcoholic ( since about 12 yrs old) hooked up to every machine & iv, in his ICU bed. He sat up in bed and said " I don't feel right" and by the time he fell back against his pillows he had lost almost all his blood volume as it covered the entire room. It's so incredibly sad. My point being that even if you're in the best possible place to be when it happens it's rare that anything can be done. Bless this man and his family. They are in my prayers tonight.

    Very sad 😥! I also gave my husband space to get off of drugs and when I checked on him he was also dead when I arrived in 2006! Definitely can relate. Too sad.

    Hi from the UK. All you guys who work for Spaulding are amazing. Lol you could of done with a truck mount extractor for that place or an exceptionally long hose so your machine could of stayed at the bottom of the stairs, lol and a squeegee on the head for the hard floors

I gotta say I hope Kyle will come back for atleast a visit & make a video letting us all know how he's doing & if there is a way of contacting him, really miss him he always made the videos extra special with his humor. Stay safe & healthy! To anyone that might read this, "Happy Holidays" 🎄🎆🎄

    This one hits home for me. I just tragically and suddenly lost my younger brother. Only 37 years old! Similar situation. He was struggling with depression and such and was asked to be left alone. Although he lived in the same household of my father all we could really do is give him his wishes. My dad would check on him every day though. And one day he was found. Even though we now after investigating got the cause of death of his heart going out and secondary to that alcoholism, there's still a lot of questions. And this scene looks pretty familiar and it's helping to answer some questions and thoughts I have, we have..

      Ibuprofen only and lot lot of lemons any form...hot tea or squeeze them and drink it. Better be home then hospital. I learn hard a way that only ibuprofen with nothing else mixed helps me....
