    After my own experience with being a hoarder and realizing WHY I was hoarding, the stories behind a hoarder are usually very sad and/or tragic. In my experience, I started hoarding after being injured in a weird, freak accident, losing my job and then my furniture and most of my personal items when I had to move 2000 miles back home with whatever I could fit of my then 5 year old son's and my stuff into a Dodge Neon. Then a few more years of betrayals and loss from family and friends, and I started hoarding useless shit around me. Every time I saw items left on a curb, I had to come back with at least one thing, deluding myself into thinking I could use it in the future. Then about 5 years into hoarding and I realized that I was trying to replace everything and everyone I had lost with the junk I surrounded myself with.
    So if you've ever judged or wondered why or how some people become hoarders, use some compassion...most often it's not that "they're just lazy people". A former therapist of mine during a home visit after I apologized for my room being messy said that for most people dealing with depression, their surroundings are a reflection of how they are feeling internally.

      @evie5375 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      i agree, people are so judgemental of those with hoarding problems but no one chooses to hoard because they want to,, it's a response to trauma. i've never really had the issue myself but as someone who's struggled with depression since i was a kid, i really do get it. during depressive episodes i often find myself surrounded by trash and dirty dishes.

      I disagree with you. Not all hoarders have trauma stories. My ex-husband is a hoarder. He jeopardized our financials, marriage, and future. I begged him to change but he thinks his stuff more important than anything. Finally, I divorced him after 10 years of marriage. Enough is enough. Some hoarders are selfish a.h.

    • @eminempreg
      @eminempreg ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@supercoppy Are you sure? Not to deny that your ex is selfish, Idk him, but theres for sure something underlying his 'selfishness'. No one hoards for the fun of it, and no one ruins their shared finances and marriage, especially after 10 years just cuz. I'm sure theres something he's struggling with deep down whether he or you want to acknowledge it. Not saying this to be like "be compassionate to your ex". He's your ex for a reason, but I'm just saying, no one acts like that without some sort of underlying reason

      No offense but I learned this when my kids grew up. All those toys, books and stuffed animals they loved and would cry over if they didn't have them as kids where basically garbage when they hit puberty. The things I spend money for know will only loose value because they are old not because they are cheap knickknacks when I got them.

She’s 19 1/2 years old now and we’re all super excited to see the Barbie movie this weekend. Not everything she played with has left memories, but not everything has turned to garbage either. Sometimes it’s hard if family members live alone a distance away. You call and try to visit, but I know airfare and gas are so expensive now and recently that it’s just not feasible. Sometimes you think “no news is good news” because they’d call if things weren’t good, right? I know I can go a bit too long without getting in touch with my family who live a few states away and thankfully they have spouses or family who live with or are closer to check in on them, but if they didn’t, it’s too easy to get busy and not check in. Even if you just text or leave a voicemail, let them know you’re thinking of them and maybe get the # of a nice neighbor who can do a welfare check. I feel for this person’s family. So much life, so many interests, and that quickly it can end. Hug your loved ones.

    Whoa buddy, this is a big job..... May the deceased rest in peace, but man they were nearly as into dolls as my grandma. Not quite, but close. May she rest in peace as well. She's been gone for a few years, but she had thousands of porcelain dolls. She didn't die there though. She just had a lot of crap that we had to deal with LOL

    If it's one thing I've learned from your videos it's that when the time comes, for maximum seepage, I want to make it to the floor so that my bed doesn't absorb any bodily fluids. I want the floor and the downstairs neighbor's ceiling to receive maximum ooze.

    NGL this is the first of this video series where the deceased person shared similar interests to mine.
    The "Toxic Toys" bit of the video shattered my heart a bit. Reminds me of that one time in high school when I was a sophomore when I discovered a big teddy bear in a locker room trash bin next to the built in office. It was THAT dirty. But at the very least it wasn't exposed to bio.
    Who knew just a simple exposure to bio can contaminate something even though the bio doesn't necessarily touch it directly?
    As they say, better safe than sorry.

    I don't know why, but I want to cry watching this video. So many things, furniture, clothes... This lady touched something for the last time in her life, watched it for the last time in her life. Something left the way it has been put before. There was a human soul everywhere, even though the body was no longer there. I know that there was a lot to throw away and it's the right thing to do. It's just... It's so sad when one minute a person lives, and then moment later there's darkness. It's so scary.

    whenever I watch these videos, I cannot help but wonder: how careful are you all in removing your contaminated protective gear? does it get sanitized after each use? what is the proper method of taking off your contaminated boots and gloves, and where do you put them after a job is done? the moment you were pulling at that carpet full of cat urine, I noticed a lot of debris which looked small enough to be inhaled. nobody was wearing a solid mask to protect from that moment, and why was that? furthermore, the brooms/vacuums/mops/cleaning bottles (spray bottles) that you use, are these sanitized often as well? I ask because, for example, what if an employee in the middle of a decon task wearing gloves that have traces of bio on them uses the spray bottle? is that ever cleaned before placing it back in the truck/storage? curious to know about the other tools you use as well in terms of maintaining them and keeping them safe to use especially considering these tools ride in the same trucks as you do when you’re on the job, and after the job. I swear in some videos on this channel it looks like certain team members are very laid back when it comes to touching certain things, then touching the truck door handle or sitting on the truck where a lot of contaminated garbage has sat as well. just curious

    • @cincin4515
      @cincin4515 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. The Asian ones are much more thorough with complete hooded suits, masks and not a spec of skin exposed. All bio is wrapped and bagged before removal to avoid contamination and is taken to special bio disposal site.
      They must have different safety laws.
