I’m 62 years old, probably old enough to be your grandmother and I must say how much I enjoy your reactions. You always have something intelligent and insightful to say.
I concur with your observations: I'm 68.
Agree, love his reactions and observations/opinions.
He is very perceptive and a breath of fresh air. He is one of my favorite reactors.
Be 63 in 13 days...😅😅😅
I’m 57 and have thought that from his first video. Super intelligent- he really breaks down the videos and explains them expertly. One of my fave reactors. Real fun to watch.
The movie shown is "Metropolis", released in 1927, was a German science-fiction silent film directed by Fritz Lang. This was the first movie depicting a dystopian future.
The movie used for the video is called "Metropolis" and it's nearly 100 years old! The future's always been worrying.
I'm 71 , listened to 2525 for many years😉. It's kinda funny how the younger generation is amazed that 2525 is so close to truth! As growing up with song and you see the changes happening, try to say no,no no. Don't go there! We do anyway! When do we realize that humans need each other? Everything else doesn't matter, we need to stop trying to make humans and computers, AI, as one! We are separate!
A decade after this song came out the 1st test tube baby was born.
And to say this as well. They got so many things right
😥😥
things came a lot sooner than they thought 😥
They thought 10,000 years but most of that is true now. It’s scary how they were so spot on
Younger people need to read up about what was big news back in the 1960's to understand what made this song such a big hit.
The Cold War, Vietnam, hippies and flower power, Kennedy assassination, Moon landing etc etc
they said mans reign is thru after 10,000 years i don't think it will take near that longthe way things are going
We better respect ...animals plants and ourselves...x
Scarily relevant today...!!! X
I remember when I was a teenager this song frightened me, thank you Shon for your as always great review
It still frightens me.
I forgot how scary this song was.
This is a trippy song hope you like it
In theory you can have a designer gene baby today created in a tube.
We always have to rebuild. We reach a zenith of optimism in civilization that cannot exceed it,it sinks under the weight of its excess and is destroyed. The few that remain begin again. That is the story of humanity.
The only rock act to have their debut single hit #1 and then they never charted again. In the late 60s everyone was watching the future die a slow, ugly death. Check out "Eve of Destruction" from Barry McGuire.
This is your BEST reaction. I remember when this song came out-I was in high school. My reaction was pretty much the same as yours. But 50 years later I think we are closer to this than I would have believed! Great stuff. There is a lesson here.
I was 14 years old. My English teacher had the class listen to this. We then had to write a short composition on the song. It was played quite often on the NYC airwaves.
You can pick your child now, no need to wait until 6565.
Right, that's the first one that came true.
been looking forward to you doing this one. the scary thing is, it only took 60 years instead of the 500 years they predicted ! test tube babies are already here. funny story, i was out at the end of last year and a group of lads went past me on motorized scooters and this song came to mind, your legs got nothing to do, some machines doing that for you !
Thanks Shon for another perceptive, insightful reaction. I was 14 when this song came out and it always scared me. It is completely unique.
Great one...I'm from Birmingham City UK... remember it in my youth ...it was scary years ago. !!!! Hahaha 😅😊
Studying computer science! Listening to you, your insight, compassion, someone or more sure did well raising you! I'm a retired teacher and really enjoy your reactions! Peace from Northern Michigan
Check out the claims about the "NEW" Willow Computer Chip.
Game changer when fully implemented.
The subtext that is implied in this song is that we are in a cycle of rebirth and death. The last words before the song begins again says that very thing. I was 10 years old when this song came out. Only as an adult could I see what they were saying. Great song. Check out the song "Games People Play" by Joe South from that same era. I think you'll like it.
One of my favs is Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World". A wonderful thoughtful reaction - thank you!
The first test tube baby was born in 1978. We already have robots doing work for us so yes I think some of it's coming!
dude.....think about it....WE HAVE TEST TUBE BABIES NOW
exactly 😥😥 It is already here where you can pick your baby,
This song gave me nightmares and still does today.
There are already designer test tube babies but only for the elite. You need serious cash and connections for that. I was 8 when this came out and sadly what they "predicted" are things we see happening or about to happen now. Great reaction!
Yeah,I was 7,heading 8,and it's always stuck with me (this record). Still sounds good, and chilling at the same time 🫣 (the God part doesn't bother me much though ).
Dude yeah test tube babies are here the first ones in the 1970s the second one was in the 1980s the first ones in the UK the second one was in the United States
This came out when I was a kid. It always seemed scary to me then.
I remember as a small kid having nightmares of this one...and nuclear bombs. It particularly planted in my mind that they should never come to be....
You can already do some of those things - the clips are from the movie “Metropolis”
☮️💙💙💙🔥🔥😍😎it scared me at the time!
You are probably right, it won't take that long!
Super popular song back when I was in the 7th grade.
THIS is an old MASTERPIECE, brotha'. Dystopia of course. How much is real today? Whatever. But one of my favorite lines is "In the year 7510, if God's a-coming He oughta make it by then." Nice. And this is a song that just stays in the mind! Thanks.
Great reaction and its a subject that's been discussed for years and years and years!
There already are test tube babies.
When this song was released, environmentalism had started to move to the forefront for many people. We're still struggling with it and now seeing the impacts of climate change. Where we live in Canada, there are a couple of restaurants that ( I almost humanized them by saying 'who') have robots that serve the orders. Now, human servers accompany it to the table, take the plates from the robot and place them on the table. The robot can carry orders for multiple tables at once, so, I think eventually servers will no longer be required or at least not as many.
We'll be lucky if we make it to 2525
Being a Christian, I think Jesus will come back before all that stuff but this song hit hard even back in the 70s / 80s / 90s and will continue as long as we humans listen to music.
There is good harmonica waiting for you in Future's So Bright ( I Gotta Wear Shades ) by Timbuk3. Your reaction to this song was excellent.
Marty Robbins " Big Iron"!
Yeh the whole dystopian futures theme has been around a very long time. It seems like today it is close. But it is gradually happening in a way that we wont even notice it, it will just be normal. Scary ! But as someone else has said, the future has always been scary. Imagine living during the industrial revoloution... the machines are taking over right ?
the first test tube baby already happened in the uk 1979
So glad u found this, makes u think. Also check out the evv of destruction. Very similar.
I am a 78 year old woman. I have always loved this song and I love your reactions.
No Sir, I dont know what Time it is Shon! Wait....Yes I do, its 2525! LOL!
Test tube babies!
I came up in technology of Token Ring, Twin Ax, Novell Networks, AS400 IBM and such. I still have the wiring code of pins 1,2,3,6 for networks and pins 1,2,4,5 for T1 communications. PRI/BRI signaling and such. Now we are into todays technology of phone / data / camera / tv / security all on the same subnet with different bandwidth for devices. Wifi and cellular technology. Heck I still have an old bag phone (first wireless phones) (not in use just in my personal collection). Now with code and AI we are about to just 10 to 20 years in tech in just a few years. My 60 year old mind and body is starting to have a harder time keeping up. Still in tech and keep afloat with the tech but not for long.
AI might not let us make 20 years let alone 10,000
"They really saw it comin' like that" in 1969. Heh: The video contains clips from the movie "Metropolis," released in 1927. That was the era when science fiction began to become significantly popular.
On the lighter side - "Mashmakhan - As The Years Go By" (1970)
For a movie version, Please watch Dr. Strangelove. Contemporary to this song.
Test tube baby's here now. And Ai.
Always loved this song. Certainly thought provoking!
This was just a song on the radio when I was a kid….for real
Born in 1956
I was 14 when this song was released. It was a bit scary but the DJ'S were playing it over the airwaves
I love your reactions. I loved this song when it first came out and still do. Talk about prophetic, this song applies then, today, tomorrow and forever. It was an incredible hit then....and now. Keep it up and thank you.
Good song
I'm 72 and I'm not confident that the human race will make it to 2125 the way it's going.
Loved your view on this dude 😍. Pretty sure it won't take as long as he says in the song...sadly 😢.
I doubt we last 100 maybe 200 years.
Keep in mind that all of the dystopian footage for this video is from the film METROPOLIS, which was released in 1927. The dystopian novel 1984 by George Orwell was written and released in 1948. Our fears of dystopia have been around a very long time, and they aren't going away for very good reasons, unfortunately.
My hands are on your shoulders brother
Song has always been phenomenal, provocative, and terrifying all at the same time. A song about the future which is somehow timeless.
Yes,
This video uses images from the silent movie Metropolis released in 1927..
I was 17 when this song hit the charts. I'll be 73 in three days and I STILL hum this song from time to time. It's very eerie isn't it? GREAT reaction.
happy birthday!
Man, a major flashback. I was 10 when it was a hit and i remember every word!
I was so looking forward to your facial reaction! It's a mindblower of a song ..... from 1969!!!! I was 13!!
Queen also sampled clips for Their Song " Radio Ga Ga ".
I saw a video on UTube and a paralyzed Man is attached to a robotic Suit. Then
he walked for the first time.
The movie is a silent film from the
1920's.
Great song and reaction
Don't recall hearing this song, until after I heard the version in Futurama. So tend to think of that first, but this song is great.
These films you are looking at are a hundred years old.
It's happening now
I was in 2nd grade when this tune came out...I loved it
This song had a huge impact when released.
This song scared me when I was little
Love your reactions Shon! If you like reading, I suggest Harlen Ellison i have no mouth and i must scream (7 short stories) I read it when I was your age (guessing). The story that stuck with me the most was about a handful of kids upset that they had to go to 'special ed' to learn reading and math the old fashioned way while almost all of their peers just chose what they wanted to be and had it wired into their brain. I hope that intrigues you to read it to find out the ending.
Yes,it’s here already.check on it.
The first "Test Tube Baby" was born in 1978 through In-vitro fertilization. Although there may have been others born prior, but this was the first one that was announced to the public.
I was 9 in 1969 (turned 10 that November), and this song always fascinated me. It made me wonder what the future was going to be like! You nailed this reaction! P. S. I like this version better: th-cam.com/video/5tLTb4P1HD8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=5FG3MuVsnMiaWtzE
I was 8 in that November 😉
That day is just around the corner.
Machines/robotics are already replacing lost limbs and allowing those to be mobile. Test tube babies have been here for years. Some day you will get to choose the color of there eyes amongst many other options you might have on your checklist. One scientist predicted that AI will be the reason the human race is erased. Crazy stuff. Technology is amazing.
I found it frightening when I was a young teen
Bro you continue to amaze me with your grasp on music, well done
Another song that gave me the creeps back then is a song called Timothy by The Bouys.
Go find the movie Metropolis -- you'll love it.
Good one man. Haven't heard it in years
We are very near that right now
I'm only 69 but can see where the changes are going..... so sad.
Thank you for this! I always recommend it to reactors but nobody ever does!
I feel like each 1000 years is actually only a decade, so every 10 years we are evolving at the speed light, cause alot of these things are happening now, not 10 thousand years from now but now
Sorry 2 say we are fucking up BIG time. Yes i can see this all coming true.
This was a huge deal, not to many scifi rock hits. But as for dystopian, Vietnam, Korea, still scars from WWII, there was a lot of doubts about the future. But I love your enthusiasm when you hear new stuff.
The technology multiplies itself
UR Awake... Like 1969! Humans definitely sense the future, listen to the lyrics of music. Musicians have sight into the future...
No, I don't think it's going to take 10,000 years. That's from the movie Metropolis made in the 1920's. GREAT reaction Shon!
