In this video Steve (BK Hockey) is going to show us how to use our outside edges to get by defenders in 1-on-1 situations. This is a great deception move for players who have mastered their outside edge skating.
We've provided a few outside edge warm-up drills to help prepare you for trying the 1-on-1 move as well.
If you enjoy these videos make sure you let us know by hitting the thumbs up button!

What are the warm up ccm pants your using here? Im trying to find a good pair i can use with shin pads.
The most beautiful sound in the world are those blades cutting the ice.
John J you’ll love one of our coming videos then! Keep an eye around Christmas
And the poles sound when the puck smacks on it haha
That bar down is awesome as well
I know ima catch some hate but I can’t stand the sound or feeling

Guy can skate, but remember kids, keep your head up when entering that area.
Let’s go
Tried this once, broke both legs.

Dude can skate. I wish i had a skating coach like this in '89!
Steve's amazing! I would love to see him play a game.
Amazing! Thank you for posting. I will start trying those edge work drills tonight.
Ohhhhhhh there’s levels to this game.... thanks for the reminder 😂😔
Buttery footwork!
Great job love it!
Very clean skating.
Awesome footwork!
Thanks Steve - crossovers are paramount right after a quick stop to maintain stability and not lose an edge.
You are the best, I learned a lot from your tutorials
Really elite skating there and good drills to take the puck outside and still open up a scoring chance.
You really need to burn the slot defender, while ideally obscuring your snapshot from the goalie.
Loved the cross to the middle. Good work!
The sound of them blades !!!!! For 30 years - I still havent found out where to get skates sharpened like that.......
This guy can skate! Great videos!
Beautiful to watch. Let's go!
I fell down at the warm ups. Damn son
Thank you this helped a lot
The first variations is epic to be honest, i often use it to gain speed as well, great footwork
great footwork
AWESOME foot work.
Amazing training
I’m definitely gonna be adding this to my skating routine. Thanks coach!
Thanks for watching and good luck!
I play in this arena every week! London sports park if I’m not mistaken!
Yup 👍🏼
Dudes busting the Marner shuffle! Awesome form!
Great technique!
I need that camera action in a nhl game. Handles matched your footwork too
How sick would that be!
Everything can be broken down into mastering inside and outside edges. Punch stops, spread eagles, etc, all variations and combinations of edges 👊💪
Good foot work. Didnt expect that
I like how you do slow motion, thank you
This guy good...wow!
This is actually really good training
this is why punch turns are OP asf
좋은 동영상 보고 갑니다. 언제 백코치님이 하시는 캠프에 한번 참가해보고 싶네요.
This man is smooth af
this guys incredible
This man is insanity
Just subscribed, this looks good
Super moves
Damn! Nice edges!
smooth wheels
Jeff Skinner of the Buffalo sabres uses this move coming up the wing all the time. That split second he freezes defenders is all he needs then he explodes. This deceptive move is great 1v1 to create a little time & space. Bravo. Great video. I enjoy watching your videos sir. Good demo, good explanation.
i need to learn to do outside edge stop im so bad. everytime i try to do it i skid or just turn
Check out our edge work video for more drills - th-cam.com/video/IN7YbVpfHrM/w-d-xo.html
thanks ))
I miss that sound of blade cutting the ice and feel but just got to waiting unti rinks are open again because of level 5 lockdown
Nice skills
I need my very own ice ring! Dreams...
Very epic.
Coach Steve has sick edges yo.
Nice
Sick
That’s impressive
I tried this move and I found it more effective if you cross over into the move, then push off to the outside instead of such a sharp cut
Great drills! This rink looks familiar. Is this Great Neck, Long Island?
Nope, we're up in London, Ontario.
Wow! I can't do that!!
Dude can wheel n bardown. Awesome
What are your skates sharpened too
Wow man
Smooth
I wish I had played hockey as a kid
Annnnnddddd...he’s good, real good

Hello Steve! Remember me? I am Oscar blom from Sweden

2:24 this is called "the jeff skinner"
How about a shooting tutorial from this man
thats right
Go flames go
Вооще огонь!!!
At the end, dude's like, no more training, it's nasty time (lol).
Hey, I was wondering if you can help me out. I’ve been playing hockey for over a decade now and I’ve had this problem with my right foot. As I crossover on my right side, my right ankle/skate collapses outwards and towards the ice/turns have no clue how to fix this.
Turn left instead.
You might need to strengthen your ankle. Check out our Edge Work Enhancer: www.hockeytraining.com/ewe-program
Какая заточка?
Your placing your foot down on a flat edge, then moving to an outside edge. You should place your blade down on the outside edge , that will really develope your edges.
As a huge red wings fan for 23 years now I've watched Datsyuk do this move more than a few times. He could be on his outside edge mid turn and cut back a different direction very quickly. A lot of players use it now to transition with speed.
Мега круто 🏒🥅💪
That is called a Jab-Step. Vital for defenseman as well exiting the zone
Curve ??
Is that lakeville mn rink?
Tyler Dubbin Ontario Canada
Is this at Ice Park aka Brookside, in London Ontario??!
Yup, nice eye
Hockey Training I’ve skated with you before in London. Very happy to see you’re doing so well here 👌🏻
Круто👍👍
Nasty
No wonder Ontario hockey players are so good...
Soft ice? I never made that sound
Do you coach the London Lakers?
No, same rink though!
Cool I live in London, great skating!!
Every shot = goalies head 😂
I broke my ankle just by watching
Awesome skills, no complains whatsoever.
However, what did he say???
Turn on the captions!
London, Ontario?
You got it!
do you skate and shoot with your head up? or is that a thing of the past?
is it for 6yo kids?
Most likely too difficult to learn at that age, but the warm-up drills might be good to try if you've got a skilled skater!
2:26 That's Cale makars specialty
You mean Crosby's specialty, right?
A lot of NHLers are using that right now
4/4 bar down btw
Not a bad day at the office
I dont trust my ankles enough for that lmao
duster
hazard we all started somewhere
Can I do that on wheels? I inline skate and haven't been able to do outside edge turns yet. It has been difficult for me to turn outside edge in a good way. I always turn like a (v) using inside edge. I guess I fear the turn.
Not really sure if you can do that on blades without breaking your ankle... depends on the surface I'd say!
@@hockeytraining I will keep on trying to see if I can do that on inline skates. I won't brake my ankles since the hard structure of my skates covers up to the calves. They are free style street inline skates. Thanks for the lesson I will try 💪💪💪💪
Teach me to play hokey
