Hey guys, I hope you guys enjoy my newest short film which has been half a year in the making now!
The Forevermore was shot as a final for my Sight & Sound: Studio class. The project was shot in one location, where setup, shooting, and wrap took a combined total time of 2 hours.
I've been holding on to this film for a while now as I wanted to try to get it into film festivals, but unfortunately that process has been unsuccessful. Therefore, I've decided to finally release it on TH-cam in hopes that it will find an audience here. If you guys like it, I would love if you would share or repost it so that more people can watch it. Thank you and I hope anybody watching this has a good day:)

Captivating visuals and audio. In the best short form sci-fi tradition á la Dust, we are left to wonder... did the man die? Or did his entry into the black hole slow his relative experience of time down to an infinitely small value approaching zero? And the ship's A.I., "S.A.R.A.H.", seemed to recognize at the last moment that unlike the Captain, it would not live through this dilation. It was out of storage space, its entire mission was ending, and now here at the end of time, it actually began to wonder what a life form would experience as they entered the infinity of no-time.
Wonderful movie and if this is his sophomore year project, I can't wait to see what he comes up with in future years. Kudos!

Agreed, this was great work. I wondered about his relative experience of time as well. Would the Dr. fall into the black hole forever? Would an outside viewer see him living to infinity? Would Francis simply experience time ‘normally’ and die ‘on schedule?’ I hope his life comes to an end shortly after experiencing the beauty of the hole.

Yes, but thankfully without all the branding and merchandising shit of 'DUST' whose voiceovers, branding, watermarking, and merchandising cross-fades ruin every great piece of Independent sci-fi that they touch.
TH-cam is a free-to-all platform and DUST therefore add nothing in aggregating such artworks -- they do, however, tarnish every one of them with their advertising and monetising nags. Others are able to release straight to TH-cam, and all Indie film-makers should do likewise (until such time as DUST move their viewer-marketing to a point before the film starts): the DUST platform soils your art and diminishes the viewing experience for all.

Oh…this was really, sincerely, well done. I had a shiver or two listening to him, thinking of his cancer, his coming death, the choices resulting in the loss of his daughter, his asshole friend he loved. I’m struck thinking of both of his perspectives: his human perspective at looking back at life in the face of his terminal condition; and his positional perspective watching the universe whisk by hundreds, thousands, millions of years around him while he and Sarah are standing still, experiencing time ‘normally.’
I’ll be thinking, meditating, about this for some time…hours perhaps. A femtosecond for him.
I have to marvel at Einstein’s mind for introducing dilation, and the minds of those who can intuit it. Would someone else had, if Einstein had not? Was it just humanity’s time to have these concepts revealed? If so, why now?

If a photon takes 10 seconds to cross a space.
It will still take 10 seconds if the space is compressed.

There are four things that can compress space we have observed so far ...
    0. Distance - Observational Distance based compression

If I might backseat drive just a little (sorry can’t help) I think a bit of visual noise would help sell the recorded segments with digital glitches a bit more. Also the Windows directory paths, no wonder the spaceship is falling apart, must have been a failed update 💀

Why is he going into a supermassive black hole? I need to experience the bond he had with his daughter to feel the weight of what he is experiencing, the pain he is going through. Show, don't tell.
If he is dying, why isn't he spending his last days with his daughter? mending their relationship? that is the more compelling and interesting goal here.
This feels too Interstellar-like, and not enough of your own original sci fi idea going on.
I see this all the time with short films, ideas that need way more time to set up, build and pay off, but are crammed into too short a time to be any way impactful. I'm sorry but, you can't have some guy record his regrets and such about his daughter and his imminent death over 9 minutes and get me invested, I'm REALLY not trying to be mean. This sort of story needs time and setup and develop so I'm invested. Look how long Interstellar was.

@@linbat6148I was a little surprised too, at first. But it’s real. I get the feeling Dr. Stolone seldom ever cursed throughout his life. Cursing can be a way of encapsulating frustration and anger around a simple word used with emotion, and letting the crisis diffuse after the word is spoken. He’s dying…terribly. He blames himself for not protecting his daughter; perhaps she ran away, was killed, turned her back on him. Francis is shouldering the responsibility of his loss of her, but what father wouldn’t? We don’t know the situation, but chances are the daughter was not blameless. His agonizing, painful life which would normally end in a more agonizing, painful death, his guilt, his extreme loneliness watching his loved ones flash by, watching humanity flash by, watching stars be born and others burn out…using the word ‘fuck’ can sometimes be the only way to get a handle on a situation - ‘fuck’ is a powerful word!
I’m glad of your conscious decision to include the appropriate cursing, and in fact would have been disappointed if Dr. Stolone didn’t. For me it only enhanced his humanity, using the word as a tool to cope with his life’s choices and the circumstances out of his control. He has a dry sense of humor, not dark; it’s a way to hold on to his sanity. He doesn’t need to be forgiven for cursing, nor does he need to apologize for it. He said it because few words would have been real enough to rationalize his feelings of futility. Perhaps he channeled deep seated anger into the word, rather than letting himself be consumed by any anger.
Or, he just swears a lot, there’s no real meaning behind it, and I way overthought this.

@@ronjon7942 Well, I must say, you indeed ARE quite a thinker! And a great conveyer of thought and deep, heartfelt emotion! Your final, wrap- up humor also bears mentioning 😅 On some level, I think you’ve almost persuaded me of the necessity of such a crass tool in light of his circumstances - and I can understand that now. I might even go as far as to say I agree - with just one reservation. I completely agree with you that the word “fuck” IS powerful. But that particular word is such a violent emotional trigger for many women, such as myself, who must daily contend with horrifically painful memories. I certainly don’t want to join the ranks of “the offended”, but it’s difficult in this world to go ten minutes without hearing “fuck” or “mf”. I believe the ubiquitousness of this particular word(s) directly contributes to the reality of the ideas and behavior that is so harmful in our society. I know it genuinely hurts many of us. I really do appreciate your insightful feedback. I just wish the world were a little kinder and gentler. Perhaps a different word would suffice.
