First Chinese Television series I've ever watched and I'm just...BLOWN AWAY! ....THE RISE OF PHOENIXES is right up there with GAME OF THRONES! This series TOTALLY deserves GOLDEN GLOBES all round!
I would go as far as saying that it is better than Game of Thrones. GOT lost it in the last season. Plus they rely on making up new plots - ROP has been consistent in 1 story line for a full 70 episodes - amazing!
Seems good, but I hate subtitles, they detract from the experience of watching. If it's dubbed in English, French or Spanish, I'll watch, but the Chinese speak way too fast for me to enjoy watching something while having to fucking read everything that's happening.
Hands down - the best show I watched this year, probably one of the best shows I've ever watched. The acting is beyond amazing - it's like watching history, not a TV show or a movie. If you want a show full of sex and boobs a la Game of Thrones you shouldn't watch it BUT if you enjoy a nerve-wracking 70 episode drama with incredible chemestry between the actors and extremly well written plots - then WATCH THIS SHOW. And please give Chen Kun some kind of award for this outstanding performance WOW just wow.
hey bro I know the way you tell us this movies is good. But, to compare with Game of Thrones?GOT is at another level, better 100 times than rise of phoenix. not fair not fair
@@johnsonpianoco You can spit on me and slap me with your dirtiest slippers if it is not. Like seriously, It is so good the show gained its well deserved awards and popularity. The storyline, costumes, and acting are superb.
This is one of the best shows I’ve seen on Netflix!! I watched al 70 episodes. Truly a great production. Even learned a little Chinese. The actors, the plot, the romance between Ning Yi and Feng Zhewei, was intense and sweet. The martial arts scenes.....oh man, I could go on about this show. I hope they’re putting together another season. One of the best Netflix! One of the best!
You should Watch: 1.Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace 2.Empresses in the Palace 3. Nothing Gold Can Stay I'm Vietnamese but I have to admit that these Chinese movies keep me enthralled from start to finish. These movies are all great. 10/10 ✌️✌️❤️
They don't all have great acting skills. Actually, most of the newer generation of C actors are not very good, thus the reason most other series are dubbed by voice actors. But what you are seeing in Rise of the Phoenixes are actors who are on a completely different level from the rest. Almost all the cast have good acting skills and can handle all their dialogue themselves thus no need for dubbing by voice actors. Many people are so used to the dubbing and fake voices that they don't realize what a big difference this makes until they see a series such as this. Having the real voices of the actors filmed on site really adds to the quality of the series. In my opinion, this is the best C. series in the past ten years. On a side note Chen Kun doesn't only have excellent acting skills, but also has one of the best looking faces I've ever set my eyes on. Can't wait to see more from him.
A must watch... The acting itself is on another whole different scale... Kun chen, even his hands acting.. It is like real person is popping from the screen
Hi, I'm a Chinese. Judging from the sword in this drama, this story happened inTang dynasty. Some guys may think the sword looks like a katana, it's true, Tang dynasty's sword is the origin of Japanese sword. The sword in this drama is called "heng dao" (means horizontal sword).
Wait but I thought the katana was developed as a way to more effectively fight the mongolian armies of Kublai Khan when he was intending to invade Japan?
@@tyrannicfool2503 This seems to be a legend and does not make sense especially if we just think about it. 1) Katana have very short blades and would absolutely not be effective against cavalry, especially cavalry archers. Matter in fact, swords in general very bad weapons in warfare and rarely used as a primary weapon. 2) There are swords all over China that are similar to Katanas and are much better against cavalry that has been in use since Han dynasty (200 bc - 200 AD) such as the Zhanmadao en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhanmadao. Why develope such a inferior weapon when there has been better ones throughout the ages?
YourrAin From what little I read of the subject it wasn’t exactly a countermeasure to fight against the Calvary itself but more against the type of armor the mongols used.
Amazing show, heartbreaking, but amazing... A thought on power, love and justice... Justice above love and love above power . So deep... Special mention for the main actors, they were mindblowing. Congrats to all the cast, love from France.
I’ve watched this several times now. ...and have first celebrity crush. Goodness Chen Kun is Wildly beautiful, powerful, engaging, intoxicating! Not just as his character her, but the actor/singer/musician/produce/philanthropist etc... he’s ageless and seemingly incredible. I’m a huge fan now because of this series. Even watching the trailer, I get chills. I hope Netflix decides to carry more of his work! Dying to see The Weary Poet, if it ever gets released!
Very impressed to this drama. I love the main roles both Ning Yi and Zi Wei . I keep crying and laughing and this drama keep me binging till 3 am almost sleepless night. Good plot, best costumes, best location and finally this drama made me love Chen Kun who plays the role of Ning Yi. I fell in love with his brilliant charisma. He is best actor for me in recent years. Thanks Netflix to broadcast this drama.
I like anything Chinese and in spite of our differences right now with them that doesn’t mean I hate them but just want to understand more about them and their culture. I mean look at all the beauty this show is giving us. This goes back to hi school when I was in the 11th grade. The class was world culture and here was the assignment. In each dynasty explain some of their contributions to society good and bad from B.C to current and collage with a essay about China’s present future and their contributions to world from art, entertainment, industry and politics. Now being African American it just opened my eyes and appreciate other people’s culture. This was my toughest assignment because none of this was in my school book and all this was outside of school and in the public libraries. So China you will always have a special place in my heart and I hope we can get past our differences
That is the beauty of education. We can choose to learn about each other and appreciate all the human race has to offer despite our differences. I have thoroughly enjoyed this drama and I appreciate the Chinese culture because it has given us so much beauty. When we focus on that which make us alike rather than on our differences, we are one step closer to world peace.
James Walker I hope they give assignments on the contributions of the Kemet and Nubian civilizations to the world The only way to dispel stereotypes hate and conflicts with people who different from us is to learn each other’s history and contributions to world heritage Being African I grew up on Chinese movies and early on got interested in the Ming dynasty especially, did a little reading and was blown away by the rich and beautiful culture of the Chinese people...in effect I wasn’t surprised or afraid by the rise of China as a global super power, in fact it was expected The world is rich, let’s appreciate all without trying to erase the cultures and contributions of others simply because the truth doesn’t fit into our narrow preconceived ideas about them
once you reveal your true emotion, you are easily manipulated. an emperor must be unpredictable, sometimes cunning and brutal, sometimes generous and merciful...that's what makes people admire, fear and respect you. yet, you are always alone.
It's somehow true. Due to policking, the Emperor favorite women, may not side his side. Even if he's a monogamist, he needs to polygamous in order to sire descendants.
I love it, adored it, specially prince of chu...This man it's so gorgeous absolutely gorgeous 🥰🥰🥰 .. love his skin color, hair, mouth, nose.. everything about this man it's beautiful.. he's a great actor and the female actress as well.! Great drama...
Just finished the series, it's a great show. I am not really into Chinese imperial drama but this one is just too good to be missed. The plot, background, props, music, actors are of top notch. It's a real shame the show suffered low viewership ratings in China.
Just finished watching this Mr Chen aka Ning Yi truly give justice to his role brilliant actor...hoping he will have future dramas or movies...in Netflix can't wait to watch his next project...Bless you more..
Yep it's official...just finished binge watching the final 10 episodes on Netflix Australia...this is the BEST SERIES EVER!...And...it's the first Chinese TV show I've ever watched! G-O-L-D-E-N G-L-O-B-E! G-O-L-D-E-N G-L-O-B-E!
Highly recommend : Nirvana in Fire(瑯琊榜) And if you also like genre of series with fantasy martial art, there is a recently airing series that is not bad, "Ever Night"(將夜), the main lead is a new actor. This 2, in my opinion is the best chinese tv series in recent years(There are a lot of chinese series and they update very fast, it is really hard to find a good one.) EDIT: There is also one popular and well received series recently, "Story of Yanxi Palace"(延禧攻略), it is about concubine of the king fight for power in palace, just not my cup of tea.
I finished the series and I will surely watch it again. This time I can focus on the cast expression since I already have an idea about the story. It was tough reading the subtitles at the same time looking at their facial expression. I haven't seen such drama series this good. The elaborate costume, the awesome cinematography, no nudity and best of all, the acting. This deserve an award and more international exposure. This is the first time I heard of Chen Kun and it was worth watching 70 episodes. He's such a good actor with his melancholic eyes. Very expressive and powerful acting. Ning Yi and Zhiwei don't have to say "I love you" to each other but as viewers, we can deeply feel it with the way they look at each other. I still can't move on with the ending so I'm hoping there's season 2.
johanazhari 中国有句话叫,山雨欲来风满楼,是唐朝的诗句,七世纪,就是用来比喻大事即将来临,这只是用现代的语言表达出来了而已?In China, there is a saying that "rains await the coming wind and the wind fill the building". It is a poem of the tang dynasty. In the 7th century, it is used to indicate that great events are coming.Chinese ancient poetry does not express full meaning in English translation, but it is not plagiarism.
I love this so so damn much. The dynamic between the main characters is on fire. Can't wait for episode 61 and the rest on Netflix. I binged the whole series in a few days so worth it!
Apart from this being a great drama, I'm gonna say this trailer isss sooo well made. Love the phrases they used for it and love the scenes. And as far the drama goes you really see all the intensity on it.
Man I don't know why I put myself thru the torture of watching these asian historical dramas, they leave me an emotional wreck. I had only just recovered from watching the best ever Korean drama, Empress Ki and didn't think I would find another to equal it, well I was wrong, as the Rise of Phoenixes was equally as impressive and once again left me an emotional wreck. I have been watching a lot of korean dramas both modern and historical over the last 12 months and they are just so impressive and I have now branched out to chinese dramas as well. I am hooked on these asian dramas, they are just incredible from absolutely fantastic story telling, extremely impressive actors/actresses both main and support cast, stunning costumes and hauntingly beautiful music. Love that Netflix has these type of shows as it gives us international viewers a chance to view these type of fabulous dramas and I don't think I can go back to watching western series who have a hell of a lot to learn from the asian way of story telling which is just so captivating and compelling.
I was just saying this to my husband the other day because I just got recently hooked into Chinese historical dramas. I especially love how they don't show any kissing or sex scenes. Not that I'm against those but the way the Chinese actors show restraint and depict their affection in these shows just make them much more powerful. I also love the dialogue. There's so much more depth and so poetic. I can probably only compare British period drama pieces like Poldark in terms of the dialogue. You don't really see much of this in American shows.
I've found myself saying the same thing. These international series especially k drama has really won my heart as far as film and writing. I find western films less interesting now when it comes to action/drama /romance. Lol
I absolutely agree❣️ I hated reading subtitles, but I thought I would just watch one episode of ‘Word of Honor’ and see how it goes… I went straight to the next episode etc… I’m totally hooked to the point that it’s all I watch now… Would love suggestions on the best ones to watch 😊
There are many annoying misinterpretations in the English subtitles. I'm gonna just list my top 4. 1) When Feng Zhiwei said "There is no one more perverse than you in this world", she actually said "awkward" or "uncomfortable" and not "perverse". Awkward and perverse are two very different things, how the translator got this wrong, I don't know. Ning Yi is awkward, but he is not perverse. 2) When Zhiwei's brother was killed by Ning Cheng, she called out "Elder Brother" and not his name. That was why Ning Cheng had a shocked look on his face, because he instantly knew the immensity of his error. Maybe Ning Cheng knew Zhiwei's brother's identity by name, but it is more dramatic when her brother's relation to Zhiwei is stated. I guess this is not really an error so much as poor choice. 3) When Yueling confessed to killing Helian Zheng, Zhiwei said that Ning Yi killed him "because you lost your temper". In actuality, she said Ning Yi killed Helian Zheng out of desperation, anxiety or panic. Any of these choices would have made much more sense. 4) When Zhiwei was talking to her older brother, he asked her if she really believes that there is heaven on earth. Actually, the word heaven should be replaced with paradise. Paradise and heaven are really, really different IMO. Heaven is where souls go after their bodies die and paradise is the ideal place to live for the living. There are many other mistakes, but I think these are the most annoying. There are however, some mistakes that I think are better than the original. That topic is for another day.
I normally do not watch Chinese TV drama: they often have too many episodes and are censored/self-censored in many ways. This is one of the best in the recent years and really got me into it. I already watched three times and still can pick up some plot or performance details I didn't notice or catch. There are some flaws in storytelling and editing but actors' and actresses' performance and art/visual design are excellent! And the HD quality makes me happy that Netflix brings this to the US!
Oh my god...it is espectacular....you dont eat and sleep trying to see the episodes...thank you netflix to the oportunity to see this wonderful series...
This is one of the best series I have ever watched. I have passed the 50th episode. It is thrilling and so well written, directed and the actors are so believable. It's a great insight into Chinese history and culture whether this is 'faction' or not. Just this series is worth the cost of monthly membership. Thank you NETFLIX for bringing this to the UK
A must-see Chinese series, an absolute masterpiece of good taste and balance, some 30 colleagues in my history school watched it and they all loved it. The music soundtrack is also excellent
This drama is very good, exciting, very good plot development with sub plots intertwined into the main plot, anxious and tense moments, good cast, colorful costumes and so on Now watching episode 36 Highly recommend anyone to watch but pls take note episodes 1 to 6 plot development is very slow. From episode 7 it picks up quickly with many sub plots Happy viewing
At episode 48 Soon feng zhi wei 's true identity to be revealed. Her brother' s fault. Stolen the xun fu tu leader medal which was kept by his mother qiu min yin. To sober him up, chu wang put him in prison. He gambled away the medal in a game. Officer pang Pei brought this matter to wei wang. Wei wang asked him to investigate and to use medal to threaten chu wang who was in non hai. Cos feng hao was put in prison by chu wang. Officer pang pei went to seek help from xin zhi Yan who was chu wang's assistant. He promised to take over the whole investigation Xin zhi yen checked with qiu min yin knew zhi wei n feng hao did not known on the past
This drama looks outstanding. The cast are gorgeous with amazing performance and the cinematography looks excellent. Still waiting eagerly for the sub. My only hope, it ends with a happy ending. Tried to peep thru the episodes, they seems so dramatic. Worry it ends with a tragic ending. Looking forward to read your comments and updates for the quick summary to give me a peace of mind. Tq.

In one year they filmed 70 45 minute episodes and we have to wait almost 2 years to get 6 episodes of Game of Thrones from HBO.. lol.. I think this show is different from GOT..
I am not sure if I understand your question Janene.. You don't have to purchase because Netflix will release every Friday in increments with the last set being released this coming Friday. You should have 60 of the 70 episodes available to you now.
hmm I am in the US and so I have 60 episodes available on my Netflix but yes you should get a new installment on Friday. Also, you can check the Netflix release schedule...
Just watched ep 25. Better than any 1st kiss: Hoovering over her . . .nuzzling her face gently . . .whispering, "Aren't you tire? I'm so very tired." She allows his closeness; unsure & overwhelmed. Wow! ✨💗✨
I know right? So much better than American shows where they rush into bed straight away. And their selfless love - turning each other away to be safe yet they're still loyal to each other. Again if it were an American show, they would be with another partner. I dislike that about my western culture, wish we had more selfless love and loyalty like this.
this series gave me goosebumps, leaving me in awe and tears, it's one of the best cdramas, thank you for putting it on Netflix so more people can appreciate the beauty and complexity of this masterpiece!
Brilliant drama, delicate details, intricate plots. For me, it's perfect. Need enough patience to explore and echo with it. Definitely head-wringing, at the same time charming.
He’s one of the best actor in China, go check out his movies, I love his acting in The Flying Swords of Dragon Gate(2011) and can you believe that he was over 40 when played Ning yi!!!!!
Its been a month I have watched this show and I am so obsessed with this that I have not been able to watch any other show or movie if it doesn't have Chen Kun.
2nd Chinese drama i’ve ever watched. 1st was Ashes of Love. I just clicked on them like that out of curiosity and boy, they’re the best thing i’ve ever seen in a looooong time. Great acting, everything was perfect.
The best historical show I've seen in my life, and trust me, I've seen alot of historical shows, thanks netflix for this! Anyways I fell in love with ning yi 😭
Love this drama so much! The writing for the plots are so well thought out-which is hard to find in so many Chinese films. The whole series and actors, especially Chen kun, deserve an award.
How can you even compare them with this. Eternal love is nothing compared to this. Full of stereotypes, cliches of every romance drama and stupid female and straight faced male characters. Same with ashes of love and Princess of weiyong. Only other Chinese period drama I liked recently is Good bye My Princess for its beautiful yet tragic story though it's full of tear jerking melodrama. However, I am currently watching Nirvana in Fire and it's pretty good as far as story is concerned. But nothing compared to Rise of Phoenixes. No one can beat Ning Yi and Feng Zewei and all the other perfect casting
In the 20 episode not a single fight scene just drama and politics and i can say this is one of the best fucking show i have seen since breaking bad. Love you chinese people ♥️
Fantastic show, regardless of the heartbreaking ending (Ning Yi and Zhiwei deserved a fate far better). Sigh! It's bloody lonely at the top. The characters are amazing-- going from funny to scheming at the drop of a hat. My first experience with a Chinese TV show and by God was it rewarding. It's not flawless, but I still enjoyed it all the way through. Finishing it left me with the kind of sadness that you feel only after experiencing something really wonderful because you know that such experiences are hard to come by.
I love this epic drama, i love Ning yi and Feng Zhiwie, the acting and the face expression of Ning yi are supperb i' ved watched this many many times, but still i cant move on, plss give us the second season i cant wait anymore💕💕💕
Danyelle Wilson : Yep, she died. She threw herself off a cliff after he became king, was about to marry her and live happily ever after. She claimed too many people died because of her , so she does not deserve a happily ever after. Just when things finally fell into place, she had to take her own life. Am still upset.
@@plantiron Yeah I watched it, I just wanted someone to cry with T^T I'm so angry at Feng Zhiwei for breaking Ning Yi's heart like that. She killed herself at the wrong time. She was in a position of power and could have done so much good. Instead she killed herself and which helped no one (at that point in time) and just broke Ning Yi's heart after he devoted his life to protecting her and the empire.
So strange to see a Chinese TV serious got more popular overseas than in China.... Guess people lost their ability to appreciate good stuff in my home country. Sad
It got gut cut out by the main TV stream companies in China. Those other shows squeezed it out of the peak time, and devoured its popularity. For me, Phoenixes is the best mandarin show in recent years, but it doesn't have the popularity it deserved in China.
There's more than one reason why it's not popular there. First is the different preferences. A lot of people are into the fast food idol dramas where they don't have to think or be focused to understand what's going on. This is not one of those dramas where you can be playing on your phone or watching at 1.5x or 2x speed and expect to be able to follow the story. Another major issue is the buying of ratings. This is a major problem that has recently come to light. It was revealed by the director of a different tv show who took a similar stance as Rise of the Phoenixes, and refused to give in to buying ratings. Many dramas buy ratings in order to be able to air and of course make their ratings look good and gain popularity. Since Rise of the Phoenixes refused to buy ratings it angered the forces in power of control of ratings. Thus it was unjustly voted low scores on Douban, a major tv and film review site. This is evidenced by the scores of 1 and 2 flowing in only minutes after it began airing and even before then. Note that these fake bad reviews don't really have any valid reasons; they either say so and so is ugly or simply that it is 70 episodes so they won't watch, etc.. Also after real audiences put in high ratings for the show, there will always be a flood of one star ratings all coming in at once. These false low ratings have kept many people from watching this show. Nevertheless, it's douban score has gradually come back up, which attests to it's quality. There were also many posts and articles out dissing this show, all with similar contents and like the bad reviews came out in floods all with similar timing. Coincidence? I think not. These were all done by the forces in control of the ratings to show this show and others what will happen if you don't buy ratings. And since the show didn't buy ratings, of course it's ratings were low and kept more people from watching it. Another reason is that this show did not do a good job on publicity and promotion, so a lot of people don't know about it. They also changed the name not long before airing so many people who were waiting for it didn't even know it had started airing. Anyway, I also feel this is one of the best dramas in recent years and deserves better than those fake bad reviews and ratings. If you like it perhaps you can go to Douban and give it a good score. I never rate anything on Douban, but will register just to contribute to the fair scores. That's the least I can do for this great production. Hope other overseas viewers would be able to contribute to a fairer scoring. This show is not perfect, but it definitely deserves more than a one or two stars.
I'm sure i needed therapy after this, it was that good, I had to watch it a second time because I was having withdrawal symptoms! it was that good, all the actor was on point but Chen Kun is simply on another level. ❤❤❤ in my entire life only The Rise of the Phoenixes, the Princess Weiyoung, Tiffany Tang and Nirvana with Luo Jin, gave me the same anxieties!! Love that Tiffany and Luo had their happy ending in real life😍😍
Plot has depth. Love the actor/actress playing Ning Yi and Feng Zhi Wei. The series started out really good until episode 60 or so, there were many unexplained events that rushed to end the series. Did not like the ending at all.
This is my first chinese history drama i ever finished I just couldn't take my eyes off a beautiful man Chen kun his character on this drama was amazing only he pulled it off so well. every scene on this drama was worthy watching the story and plots were unbelievably so good all actors had a chance to shined on their own way in this drama they understood the characters they're portraying and they did there best to deliver something good . Production team did a wonderful job especially with choice of location, casting, makeup and dressing code, music and film look you can tell how carefully everything was done to bringout a high quality Production.i just want to watch a drama like this with no fantasies like fyling horse that destroy my whole vibe of watching chinese historical drama in
@@lyraaa8368 I really won't like to spoil it to you it's better to watch until the end you will understand why is the ending like that But Let me give you my answer the more I watched the more the drama prepared me for whatever ending because in this drama you will see how ambitious the the main guy is that really made the ending not good as we want but satisfying that you can take it
Binged the series as much as I could these past two weeks and just finished it. Never seen a Chinese drama but I’m glad I watched this one. It’s a truly amazing show, but the ending has me down. Hope they show an alternate ending or something
This show made a fan of Chen Kun ( and of Ni Ni too). The sets, the costumes, the politics, everything was amazing...but their acting, specially Chen kun's acting was a whole other level, so layered and intrincate and the chemistry between the two of them was electric. Western shows oversaturated with s*x scenes wish they were half as good.

You should watch Nirvana in Fire
Then you never watch "Nirvana in Fire" 2015 yet. That's the show that should get more awards
Better than game of thrones!!
Finally, those of us outside China will be able to watch this excellent series. Thanks for bringing it to us Netflix.
kmkoko ko yes many viewers pls. Rating received over TH-cam on this drama 7.7 great. When started it was very low
Now at 54 but finished 58 to 61
it's actually a korean movie
Seems good, but I hate subtitles, they detract from the experience of watching. If it's dubbed in English, French or Spanish, I'll watch, but the Chinese speak way too fast for me to enjoy watching something while having to fucking read everything that's happening.
It seems you have gotten some wrong information somewhere. This is undoubtedly a Chinese TV series. The cast, setting, and language are all Chinese.

I have sleepless nights because of this series, still didn't see all. Chinese actors have amazing acting skills.
I don't know who that guy is but he's very good looking

I totally agree he is a true genius
I don't know if it's eligible for it or not, but this deserves an International Emmy.
It was a remarkable show
Hi, I'm a Chinese. Judging from the sword in this drama, this story happened inTang dynasty. Some guys may think the sword looks like a katana, it's true, Tang dynasty's sword is the origin of Japanese sword. The sword in this drama is called "heng dao" (means horizontal sword).
It's not realistic setting. They used the Mediterranean draw for the archery instead of the thumb draw.
Wait but I thought the katana was developed as a way to more effectively fight the mongolian armies of Kublai Khan when he was intending to invade Japan?
@4141 Ziyue Zheng look the suit , is tang dynasty
OMG YES I'm so glad Netflix is picking up more Asian dramas.

Omg !!!!! On netflix !!! I tried to find it everywhere. The trailer is so amazing and beautiful.

Omg I love this movie even after finishing all 70 episodes still went back to watch it again...love the prince Ning Yi
Arali69 Agreed!
You're lucky! I had to study Mexican history for my world history class...cuz my teacher was a Mexican-American.
James Walker I hope they give assignments on the contributions of the Kemet and Nubian civilizations to the world
The only way to dispel stereotypes hate and conflicts with people who different from us is to learn each other’s history and contributions to world heritage
Being African I grew up on Chinese movies and early on got interested in the Ming dynasty especially, did a little reading and was blown away by the rich and beautiful culture of the Chinese people...in effect I wasn’t surprised or afraid by the rise of China as a global super power, in fact it was expected
The world is rich, let’s appreciate all without trying to erase the cultures and contributions of others simply because the truth doesn’t fit into our narrow preconceived ideas about them
Seriously, America take Zhongnanhailogy to that level? Study Shang dynasty to the current PRC?
I don't think I have ever been this obsessed with a series. Forget Game of Thrones.
Me too..this drama should have more awards 😍
0:28 "Love is never fated for an emperor." I should have seen the ending coming from this one line.
Chinese emperor always call themselves "loner"(寡人). You can show no love or hate when you are at the top of the world.
Fuck the writer
once you reveal your true emotion, you are easily manipulated. an emperor must be unpredictable, sometimes cunning and brutal, sometimes generous and merciful...that's what makes people admire, fear and respect you. yet, you are always alone.
@@user-ri3wj6bf3f that's before Qin dynasty right?

Hi there, we posted an english translation of Chen Kun's interview where he talks about Ning Yi. Please visit my channel and take a look :)
You need to watch Princess Ki!!!!
Highly recommend : Nirvana in Fire(瑯琊榜)
And if you also like genre of series with fantasy martial art, there is a recently airing series that is not bad, "Ever Night"(將夜), the main lead is a new actor. This 2, in my opinion is the best chinese tv series in recent years(There are a lot of chinese series and they update very fast, it is really hard to find a good one.)
EDIT: There is also one popular and well received series recently, "Story of Yanxi Palace"(延禧攻略), it is about concubine of the king fight for power in palace, just not my cup of tea.
Go watch The Story of Yanxi Palace and see if that is the actual best chinese drama series instead.
@@NobleEagle I shall have a look this weekend when I can sit and invest hours xD

Apart from this being a great drama, I'm gonna say this trailer isss sooo well made. Love the phrases they used for it and love the scenes. And as far the drama goes you really see all the intensity on it.
This series is so visually stunning and full of intrigue. Simply amazing.
Finally Netflix is getting more and more Asian Drama's. Loving it:)
Thanks for supporting asian Drama s
Thank you Netflix!!! This is the most fascinating Chinese drama these years!!!
Thankyou , I really was soo perplex by that choose of words especially number one, I was like what thee...

Wasn't that amazing? Like teasing, so sensual without being nasty toward the woman. That scene was so hot..He's so hot!🥰🥰

The princess weiyoung is also a good one to watch!
One of the most amazing films I have ever seen rise of the phoenixes 👍❤❤
So strange to see a Chinese TV serious got more popular overseas than in China.... Guess people lost their ability to appreciate good stuff in my home country. Sad
Each viewer has their own PREFERENCES.
For me I do not like to watch any drama in qing dynasty
me too... Qing dynasty's clothes are ugly.
It got gut cut out by the main TV stream companies in China. Those other shows squeezed it out of the peak time, and devoured its popularity. For me, Phoenixes is the best mandarin show in recent years, but it doesn't have the popularity it deserved in China.
fkfkfkup fk according to latest info from youtube this drama rating is now 7.6. Can easily cross over 8.5
There's more than one reason why it's not popular there.
The sets, the costumes, the politics, everything was amazing...but their acting, specially Chen kun's acting was a whole other level, so layered and intrincate and the chemistry between the two of them was electric. Western shows oversaturated with s*x scenes wish they were half as good.
