This is the first C-drama I ever watched. It got me hooked on C-dramas forever. A beautiful body of work from a talented ensemble, magnificently produced and executed. Bravo. This is the best drama I have ever watched.
What was any irony for me was the promise Zhiwei made to her mother before she got so emotionally entangled with Ning Yi. She knew she was never going to marry Ning Yi but continued to fall in love with him despite the promise. The promise made to her mother without an explanation from her mother seem contrary to the personality portrayed by Zhiwei. I understand that coulture and tradition played a huge role in this sort of blind obedience but at what cost to individual happiness and understanding. I really wished for the a different ending where I would've liked to see Zhiwei and Ning Yi marry and really have the relationship they danced around since they met. Overall it was a really likable series which hit a range of emotions.
Her last wish was that in their next life that they meet as ordinary people. I've seen a few that ended similar to this and this would be a great opening fir a part 2. There is one that actually did that part 2. I believe it's called The One and Only. I know Bailu and an actor be the name Ren are the lead couple. The part 1 is called by another name and it's a tear jerker but part 2 is the culmination and sweet part of karma makes your heart melt.

Never I have been hooked with a dram with such passion. I cried too much because of the ending, nowI will need to watch comedy for about a year to recover. Absolutely superb!!!

I stumble unto this and I was hooked. Broooooo why they kill off Helian like that 😭 even though my dude had 10 wives he loved Zhiwei so purely that he rather die to show her that the man she love is no longer than have her with him. Honestly Ningyi was okay but then he went coco 😤😧😧. Honestly this is the first Cdrama that got me following like an addict 😂😂

The ending is very tragic, even when I watched it years ago knowing exactly how it would end before beginning. However, this allowed me to better understand Zhiwei's choices by looking for signs of the tragedy from the very beginning. And they were certainly there: The constant goodbyes "forever" between our lovers, the first engagement that never happened due to "misaligned fate", the competing empires/families pitting them against each other like Romeo and Juliet, every OST in the show having lyrics about doomed love, Zhiwei's belief that marriage is the greatest loss of women's freedom, Headmaster Xi saying that "love is never fated for an emperor" (this is quoted in the show's trailer), the symbolization behind the fact that their first and only kiss happened UNDER WATER, among many other things... and then you have all of the major character deaths in the show! Our only healthy couple who was together in the entire show was Headmaster Xi and his wife, who Ningyi admired and wished to be like because of their pure requited love and marital bliss; when the wife was needlessly killed late in the show (while pregnant, I think?) there was no hope left for our main couple. It died with them. That was literally our only symbol of a happy marriage, just massacred. If that doesn't say tragedy and no hope for happy endings for lovers, I don't know what does. Surprisingly, too, there are much more obvious signs of the tragedy, even literally spoken by the characters themselves. Zhiwei says to Hua Qiong while they are imprisoned by Prince Jin Siyu, that "what does not start well will not end well", and that because her and Ningyi "met in a tragedy" that their "endings will be tragic as well". I was in shock hearing her say this so literally. Like, Zhiwei is completely self-aware, yet no one was taking her seriously. All the signs of misaligned fate from the beginning, different goals, tragedy, and Zhiwei's serious depression at the end were there... But so was the fact that the two of them were so obviously meant for each other. So of course it still feels like a tragedy, I don't begrudge anyone for that it still hurts me too, but I would seriously argue that although the ending may feel a bit rushed (definitely scenes were cut out due to censorship), still the tragic ending with Zhiwei's death is actually very fitting and very in character. Zhiwei was never stupid. The Emperor was right at the end and she knew it: her identity as the Dacheng princess would have caused continuous political difficulties for NingYi in the future as he tried to rule; even though they are obviously in love, she could never be NingYi's only wife and lover because he needs to have many children as an Emperor; he would always have to make difficult choices as the Emperor and the throne would eventually be more important; she never wanted to be married because it would restrict all her freedom and she would be forced to live by the rules and strict customs of the court; and on top of all of these things, at the end she was severely depressed and guilt-ridden and could not move past all the people that were killed in the pursuit of the throne. Could their love survive all of that? All she ever wanted was to be free and protect those she loved. But most of her loved ones were killed and a position as the Empress would be a prison to her. When you think of it like that, it's not so surprising. But it's still so sad.

Ning Qi foi o último e mais maléfico vilão da trama. Essa série passou na Netflix com 70 episódios, já saiu do catálogo em novembro. Assisti 3 vezes. Uma das melhores séries que já assisti.

Huuum, she is too pridefull and idealism also too smart for her own good. Problem will occur as long as one alive just live for today. I agree that she depressed, she lost the will to living and not trust ning yi enough. I sad for ning yi though, he really work hard to make it possible for them to be together.

The ending was tragic but for us romantics we really wanted them together but eventually that throne will be a thorn in their side and pull them a part. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. The ending was real though.

Great series he had his priority straight 👏 👍🏽 👌 his mother, his kingdom and then her. He won every single battle. He couldn't keep her but that's the mark of a true Emperor.
I agree. He was right to become the Emperor, he was the wisest of the brothers. Master Xin Zi Yan was right after all, they were not a match when it comes to sensibility. She was too young and idealistic. But the ending is sad nonetheless

Aunque fue trágico y glorioso a la vez el final... ❤ Nos mostro que el amor siempre triunfa, no ese amor romantico que idealizamos y que nos venden las peliculas occidentales sino un amor que trasciende, al buscar el bien del ser amado y de ser capaz de sacrificarte por la felicidad del otro.... ❤ Ning Yi fue capaz de confrontar a su padre por ella, de dejarla ir con otro con tal de proteger su vida y a pesar de su dolor hizo lo posible por verla feliz, ambos crecieron rodeados de injusticias y en circuntancias manipuladas por otros, no eligieron sus destinos, se ayudaron y protegieron mutuamente, en el tiempo que compartieron como funcionarios ambos crecieron (no sólo fisicamente), se fortalecieron y complementaron con sus respectivas cualidades... Se enamoraron y compartían el mismo sueño: "un mundo más justo, con igualdad sin importar el origen o estatus, que viviera en paz" Ella al final entiendio (como bien se lo dijeron el anterior emperador y Ziyan) que convertirse en emperatriz le traería muchos problemas a Ning Yi y prefirió sacrificarse por amor a él... Ambos fueron victimas de sus circunstancias, sin embargo, nunca se perdio su amor ni permitieron que el odió de las personas con que crecieron lo contaminara con sus odios y viejos rencores. Era tanta la sangre derramada entre ellos que con el tiempo se reprocharían y se odiarian y como ambos lo dijeron: su amor trascendería literalmente en todas sus vidas, al reencarnar, ella quería ser libre y su decisión final los liberaba a ambos... Como le dijo Ning Yi a Zhiwei antes de casarse "la ira y el arrepentimiento no debían ser las unicas cosas que quederan entre ellos" siempre hay que seguir adelante pero hay que saber que avanzar y rendirse son dos cosas distintas. Al final él nos muestra que aunque tiene roto el corazón debe seguir adelante y luchar por su sueño antes de volver a estar con ella. 😢

Nin nunca foi mal .Foi injusto seu melhor amigo virar as costas para ele .O final não e compativel com a alma dos seus personagens, mas valeu cada minuto e com certeza irei rever varias ,pois um trabalho tao perfeito e cuidado nos minimos detalhes .Foram injusto com eles 😢😢

Oh my gosh😢I did not expect the ending turning to be like that. She chose death rather than to marry Ning Yi. Of all the C-drama that I've watch this is the historical drama that I enjoyed the most. The most drama that I really appreciate. Because this wasn't the drama that u expect the ending would be happy and peace but it is satisfying and so acceptable.It was like "leave Ning Yi alone" 😅
I understand the ending. The father was right. Ultimately, her mere existence would have come in the way of his goal while on the throne. That and she realized in the end that she couldn't choose him at the expense of every one else's lives. He would have ultimately chosen the throne over her anyway, just like his father did with his mom.
The parallel with his parents coming into his later shaping of character (or, er, along with his rise with power) was def obvious to her. Idk... "NOBODY MOVE!!! Someone dropped me Brain!" LMAO!🤯🧠🤣
@allydo2025 I don't think it was obvious to her. Otherwise she wouldn't have said, "you've never asked me what I wanted". Care to guess what she meant by that? She meant that no matter the danger to her, she wanted to stay by his side but he, along with everyone else, kept telling her what to do and where to go. It was only in the end after his father told her "he will do the Same to you (as I did with my wife)" that she realized what was at stake should she stay with him in the end.

Bom gente, o que dizer? Simplesmente uma série impecável, atores maravilhosos, uma história forte e comovente, ensina princípios e nos faz refletir sobre coisas que são importantes na vida. Assisti essa série uns anos atrás quando tinha na Netflix, tem 70 episódios, aqui no canal está bem resumido, mas gostei bastante dos videos, deu pra matar a saudade. Mas nunca me conformei com esse final tão trágico. Pra mim não fez sentido ela ter se suicidado, não é coerente com a pessoa que ela era. É lindo o amor dos dois, um sempre protegendo o outro, principalmente Ning Yi que movia céus e terra pra proteger Zhiwei, mesmo q significasse renunciar ficar junto dela. Já não bastasse tudo que sofreram, ainda ter que terminar com essa morte. Zhiwei teria honrado a memória das vidas inocentes que se foram muito mais se ficasse viva, poderia estar ao lado do imperador auxiliando no governo da nação, combatendo a corrupção e injustiça. Os dois tinham os mesmos ideais, e se amavam verdadeiramente, tinham que ter ficado juntos. Que pena😢

O fato também é que ela estava profundamente abalada e triste, se sentindo culpada pelas mortes inocentes e não suportou isso.

Не защитил малое и главное , как править и защищать чужое ненужное? В конце приходит осознание Ошибки боль утраты и горечь разочарования в себе и потери мира. У слабого императора Разрущающая Слабость силу. Сильный император Защитит свою Любовь и за воюет мир У Сильного императора в его слабости его сила...
Конфликт Нин И в том, что он хотел отомстить за родных. У него получилось. Но мы знаем, что месть не решает проблем. «Убивая дракона, человек становится драконом сам». Синь Цзыянь изначально направил главного героя бороться за трон, т. к. покойный Нин Цяо об этом попросил. Было понятно, что и месть, и кровопролитная бойня с родственниками повлечёт за собой много страданий. Чживэй же просто сгорела в пламени дракона. Страшно и трагично. В оригинальной книге конец сделали логичным и хорошим: персонажи инсценировали свою смерть и жили вместе, но при этом ван Чу, конечно, отрёкся от власти.

Сериал замечательный, актеры хороши и играют прекрасно. Очень жаль что трагический финал, именно потому что между ними столько жертв и крови, она должна была стать императрицей, чтобы вместе с Нин И править государством и воплотить в жизнь их мечту о справедливом обществе с равенством независимо от статуса и происхождения. Дживэй сомоубийством нанесла страшный удар Нин И и себя лишила возможности творить добро и справедливость. Вместе они могли бы опровергнуть слова отца-императора о будущей взаимной ненависти, о жертвоприношении любого ради власти и трона.
это единственная дорама с грустным концом, которую я смотрела.. все на высшем уровне, и актеры и съемка...но я так же не могу понять зачем надо было убивать героиню, и этим делать победителем императора и его политику..
@@ИринаКорнко Императрица Ки, моя первая историческая корейская дорама, там тоже финал - ревела месяц (первая дорама, пересматриваю раз в году, традиция) ну и Алые сердца тоже не сильно оптимистичный. А если честно, люблю дорамы, чтобы мое сердце вдребезги. Подскажите пожалуйста еще что-то. (Фениксы лежат в закладке не первый год, но не смотрела потому что думала, что после нее все остальные будут пресными, это как после императрицы Ки несколько месяцев ничего не цепляло. Благодарю Вас

She chose the coward way, she gave up. It is not according to her character that was being constructed since the beggining of the drama... What a pity...

One of the best Dramas l have seen. Scratch the surface and see how deep and tragic the story is, so beautifully done. The actors/ actresses amazing. There are people that live for themselves, hold their own personal grudges. Then there are people whom live for others and sacrifice themselves in life and death.

It wasn't her heart he lost- he lost her. She wanted all the violence and conflict between loyallty to the old dynasty represented by her living persona and the new represented by him. SO playing his little flute she ended the violent cycle by leaving this world.

What was any irony for me was the promise Zhiwei made to her mother before she got so emotionally entangled with Ning Yi. She knew she was never going to marry Ning Yi but continued to fall in love with him despite the promise. The promise made to her mother without an explanation from her mother seem contrary to the personality portrayed by Zhiwei. I understand that coulture and tradition played a huge role in this sort of blind obedience but at what cost to individual happiness and understanding. I really wished for the a different ending where I would've liked to see Zhiwei and Ning Yi marry and really have the relationship they danced around since they met. Overall it was a really likable series which hit a range of emotions.
Her last wish was that in their next life that they meet as ordinary people. I've seen a few that ended similar to this and this would be a great opening fir a part 2. There is one that actually did that part 2. I believe it's called The One and Only. I know Bailu and an actor be the name Ren are the lead couple. The part 1 is called by another name and it's a tear jerker but part 2 is the culmination and sweet part of karma makes your heart melt.

Broooooo why they kill off Helian like that 😭 even though my dude had 10 wives he loved Zhiwei so purely that he rather die to show her that the man she love is no longer than have her with him. The ending is very tragic, even when I watched it years ago knowing exactly how it would end before beginning. However, this allowed me to better understand Zhiwei's choices by looking for signs of the tragedy from the very beginning. And they were certainly there:
The constant goodbyes "forever" between our lovers, the first engagement that never happened due to "misaligned fate", the competing empires/families pitting them against each other like Romeo and Juliet, every OST in the show having lyrics about doomed love, Zhiwei's belief that marriage is the greatest loss of women's freedom, Headmaster Xi saying that "love is never fated for an emperor" (this is quoted in the show's trailer), the symbolization behind the fact that their first and only kiss happened UNDER WATER, among many other things... and then you have all of the major character deaths in the show! Our only healthy couple who was together in the entire show was Headmaster Xi and his wife, who Ningyi admired and wished to be like because of their pure requited love and marital bliss; when the wife was needlessly killed late in the show (while pregnant, I think?) there was no hope left for our main couple. It died with them. That was literally our only symbol of a happy marriage, just massacred. If that doesn't say tragedy and no hope for happy endings for lovers, I don't know what does.
Surprisingly, too, there are much more obvious signs of the tragedy, even literally spoken by the characters themselves. Zhiwei says to Hua Qiong while they are imprisoned by Prince Jin Siyu, that "what does not start well will not end well", and that because her and Ningyi "met in a tragedy" that their "endings will be tragic as well". I was in shock hearing her say this so literally. Like, Zhiwei is completely self-aware, yet no one was taking her seriously. All the signs of misaligned fate from the beginning, different goals, tragedy, and Zhiwei's serious depression at the end were there... But so was the fact that the two of them were so obviously meant for each other. So of course it still feels like a tragedy, I don't begrudge anyone for that it still hurts me too, but I would seriously argue that although the ending may feel a bit rushed (definitely scenes were cut out due to censorship), still the tragic ending with Zhiwei's death is actually very fitting and very in character.
Zhiwei was never stupid. The Emperor was right at the end and she knew it: her identity as the Dacheng princess would have caused continuous political difficulties for NingYi in the future as he tried to rule; even though they are obviously in love, she could never be NingYi's only wife and lover because he needs to have many children as an Emperor; he would always have to make difficult choices as the Emperor and the throne would eventually be more important; she never wanted to be married because it would restrict all her freedom and she would be forced to live by the rules and strict customs of the court; and on top of all of these things, at the end she was severely depressed and guilt-ridden and could not move past all the people that were killed in the pursuit of the throne. Could their love survive all of that? All she ever wanted was to be free and protect those she loved. But most of her loved ones were killed and a position as the Empress would be a prison to her. When you think of it like that, it's not so surprising. But it's still so sad.

Muito bom o seu comentário, mas só para corrigir, a esposa do Diretor Xin, não morreu, quem morreu foi a cunhada e consequentemente o bebê na barriga da esposa do diretor Xin morreu logo quando ela soube da morte da irmã, esse assassinato foi por ordem do irmão do Ning Yi, o Ning Qi, o sétimo príncipe que brigava tbm pelo trono como foram os outros irmãos. Ning Qi foi o último e mais maléfico vilão da trama. Essa série passou na Netflix com 70 episódios, já saiu do catálogo em novembro. Assisti 3 vezes. Uma das melhores séries que já assisti.

Great series he had his priority straight 👏 👍🏽 👌 his mother, his kingdom and then her. He won every single battle. He couldn't keep her but that's the mark of a true Emperor.

Aunque fue trágico y glorioso a la vez el final... ❤ Nos mostro que el amor siempre triunfa, no ese amor romantico que idealizamos y que nos venden las peliculas occidentales sino un amor que trasciende, al buscar el bien del ser amado y de ser capaz de sacrificarte por la felicidad del otro.... ❤ Ning Yi fue capaz de confrontar a su padre por ella, de dejarla ir con otro con tal de proteger su vida y a pesar de su dolor hizo lo posible por verla feliz, ambos crecieron rodeados de injusticias y en circuntancias manipuladas por otros, no eligieron sus destinos, se ayudaron y protegieron mutuamente, en el tiempo que compartieron como funcionarios ambos crecieron (no sólo fisicamente), se fortalecieron y complementaron con sus respectivas cualidades... Se enamoraron y compartían el mismo sueño: "un mundo más justo, con igualdad sin importar el origen o estatus, que viviera en paz" Ella al final entiendio (como bien se lo dijeron el anterior emperador y Ziyan) que convertirse en emperatriz le traería muchos problemas a Ning Yi y prefirió sacrificarse por amor a él... Ambos fueron victimas de sus circunstancias, sin embargo, nunca se perdio su amor ni permitieron que el odió de las personas con que crecieron lo contaminara con sus odios y viejos rencores. Era tanta la sangre derramada entre ellos que con el tiempo se reprocharían y se odiarian y como ambos lo dijeron: su amor trascendería literalmente en todas sus vidas, al reencarnar, ella quería ser libre y su decisión final los liberaba a ambos... Como le dijo Ning Yi a Zhiwei antes de casarse "la ira y el arrepentimiento no debían ser las unicas cosas que quederan entre ellos" siempre hay que seguir adelante pero hay que saber que avanzar y rendirse son dos cosas distintas. Al final él nos muestra que aunque tiene roto el corazón debe seguir adelante y luchar por su sueño antes de volver a estar con ella. 😢

Of all the C-drama that I've watch this is the historical drama that I enjoyed the most. The most drama that I really appreciate. Because this wasn't the drama that u expect the ending would be happy and peace but it is satisfying and so acceptable.It was like "leave Ning Yi alone" 😅
I understand the ending. The father was right. Ultimately, her mere existence would have come in the way of his goal while on the throne. That and she realized in the end that she couldn't choose him at the expense of every one else's lives. He would have ultimately chosen the throne over her anyway, just like his father did with his mom.
The parallel with his parents coming into his later shaping of character (or, er, along with his rise with power) was def obvious to her. Idk... "NOBODY MOVE!!! Someone dropped me Brain!" LMAO!🤯🧠🤣
@allydo2025 I don't think it was obvious to her. Otherwise she wouldn't have said, "you've never asked me what I wanted". Care to guess what she meant by that? She meant that no matter the danger to her, she wanted to stay by his side but he, along with everyone else, kept telling her what to do and where to go. It was only in the end after his father told her "he will do the Same to you (as I did with my wife)" that she realized what was at stake should she stay with him in the end.

Bom gente, o que dizer? Simplesmente uma série impecável, atores maravilhosos, uma história forte e comovente, ensina princípios e nos faz refletir sobre coisas que são importantes na vida. Assisti essa série uns anos atrás quando tinha na Netflix, tem 70 episódios, aqui no canal está bem resumido, mas gostei bastante dos videos, deu pra matar a saudade. Mas nunca me conformei com esse final tão trágico. Pra mim não fez sentido ela ter se suicidado, não é coerente com a pessoa que ela era. É lindo o amor dos dois, um sempre protegendo o outro, principalmente Ning Yi que movia céus e terra pra proteger Zhiwei, mesmo q significasse renunciar ficar junto dela. Já não bastasse tudo que sofreram, ainda ter que terminar com essa morte. Синь Цзыянь изначально направил главного героя бороться за трон, т. к. покойный Нин Цяо об этом попросил. Было понятно, что и месть, и кровопролитная бойня с родственниками повлечёт за собой много страданий. Чживэй же просто сгорела в пламени дракона. Страшно и трагично. В оригинальной книге конец сделали логичным и хорошим: персонажи инсценировали свою смерть и жили вместе, но при этом ван Чу, конечно, отрёкся от власти.

Ning Qi foi o último e mais maléfico vilão da trama. Essa série passou na Netflix com 70 episódios, já saiu do catálogo em novembro. Assisti 3 vezes. Uma das melhores séries que já assisti.

Очень жаль что трагический финал, именно потому что между ними столько жертв и крови, она должна была стать императрицей, чтобы вместе с Нин И править государством и воплотить в жизнь их мечту о справедливом обществе с равенством независимо от статуса и происхождения. Дживэй сомоубийством нанесла страшный удар Нин И и себя лишила возможности творить добро и справедливость. Вместе они могли бы опровергнуть слова отца-императора о будущей взаимной ненависти, о жертвоприношении любого ради власти и трона.

это единственная дорама с грустным концом, которую я смотрела.. все на высшем уровне, и актеры и съемка...но я так же не могу понять зачем надо было убивать героиню, и этим делать победителем императора и его политику..

А если честно, люблю дорамы, чтобы мое сердце вдребезги. Подскажите пожалуйста еще что-то. (Фениксы лежат в закладке не первый год, но не смотрела потому что думала, что после нее все остальные будут пресными, это как после императрицы Ки несколько месяцев ничего не цепляло. Благодарю Вас
