Right on man, I actually went the other way, had an Atacama then sold it and got the solo. The solo fits those raised campsite beds so much better and I don't ever put the bike in the garage anyway. I use a helinox Chair 2, trekology medium table, full backpacking cook kit and have both ground sheets. The boots, helmet, and riding gear stay dry I can get dressed and undressed with ease a blessing after a 2 level spinal fusion. Sit in the chair in a bug free sun room watching a movie on the tablet on the table if I want. Life is freakin good man, anyone knocking these tents saying they're too big/heavy hey man more power to em and their little bikes and backpacking tents I motorcycle tour in comfort and style nothing beats a steak, martini, and movie in my redverz lounge after a long day on the Super Tenere 1200. I don't ride a big 1200 to "rough it", maybe we're spoiled but I don't care lol busted my ass in the military till retirement to be able to live how I want.

I just spent a week in Arizona in my Lone Rider Moto tent, I am planning to do a comparison video of this tent against my Atacama...

I also have the solo. Next week i am heading of from the Netherlands to Sweden for a 3 week trip. Maybe a bit Norway too.
Have always used hammocks for the last 20 years. It is my first time doing a tent actually. Don't get me wrong. I love hammocks, really love them. The sleepcomfort is the best. I think much better then what i will achieve in this tent. But last time i had so much rain and it was cold. I wished i had a dry place to sit. Also to be more out of the elements. So back home a did some research.
Hopefully i can enjoy my helinox chair and my whiskey in the evening. And if it is not outside i can go inside now. Looked at the weather for the coming time in Sweden. Hell, 13 degrees Celsius maximum.🥶 So i think i have made the right decision.
Already packed my bike altough i still have to work for two days. But i must say. The packsize is big. Expeccially compaired to what i have been used to. So needed to rearrange my needs a bit. Used my feet to kick it in a sidepannier cause decided that i do not want this weight on the top of my motorcycle. I managed to leave my 100 liter Ortlieb bag unused so i can leave that alone. Only using a normal tailbag this time. For my cooking gear and coffee. To make that a little bit easier when i want some coffee at the side of the road. And leaving a bit of extra space for when i hit the supermarket. I managed to leave almost half the stuff at home compaired to what i normally take with me. I hope it will not kick me in the back and regret it. It will be a new experience to me needing to wash my stuff frequently. Taking a completely new approach this time compaired to what i normally do. A trialout for my next big trip through Russia and Mongolia. And 2 weeks at the end in Iran. Scraping out Afghanistan from the trip i think is a nessecary thing to do.
But i regret that immensely. And not only for myself. In the first place for all those woman who in the near future will be beaten and even killed. And the girls that all will be heading into a hars life without any rights. Back in the eighties been living a time in the Middle East. It has become much worse since then. And for what ? Power ? How can man think they have the right to decide that a woman is of less importance then he is ? Although it is written in the Qur'An ? A book lacking love is a book not worthy to read. Power is just one small and tiny word but it is responsible for all the suffering in the world. I sometimes wonder if we all still will be traveling on our motorcycles through the world in 10 years in those beatifull countries. Every motortraveler should have a big sticker on his luggage with " Free Afghanistan, go away Taliban". But not when he is riding in Afganistan i think.🙈 China did spend a lot of money at the Taliban so they could achieve their own goal. That is getting the mining rights. But to what loss for the Afghan woman. But i am wandering off with my thoughts. And the topic is about a tent. Sorry about that.
But the main purpose of traveling is to see and experience new and different people. To experience the beauty of people. It is such a damn shame that only a few evil people exist and using so many as their puppets to do their evil doings. A motortraveler wants to experience life and not to fall into those evil traps where the majority will step in. I have never seen one motortraveler out there who's goal it is to hurt another person. That is why i love the motortraveler family so much !!
Nice video about your tent btw.👍

I recently camped with a fellow rider who has the Redverz. I made fun of him two days in a row... then it rained. Three American sized men all sat in the garage drinking whisky and stayed dry. I will never make fun of his tent again.

I like mine. I use a double wide big Agnus sleeping pad and down double wide sleeping bag. I can't stand mummy bags. I like to be able to stand up and get dressed in the morning Yes it's to large to put in a pannier . I'll take the oversized any day for being comfortable. Everybody complains about weight on their Adventure bikes. But I know all my gear weighs less than a passenger so it's no big deal. Nice GS I've got an 11 looking forward to riding season this year.

    I have this tent ⛺️
Used the shit of it. Love it !
    It's definitely big, but it's EASY !
Far easier than a small tent.
3 poles. 2 are the same.
Easy to see witch end the smaller pole goes.
And the pole pockets only at the top.
The only disadvantage: not free standing. So you can't shake it out. But I have just undone one side loose and sake sand out that way..pack it up and your done.

Id agree with all that you have said, I transitioned to the Lone Rider tent, its a little smaller as you sleep the opposite direction on the Redverz therefore making it slightly smaller, but overall I like these style tents...Dave

    Hi Dave.
I have the same bike and tents as you ...i would recommend a t least a half length thin foam pad to protect the ground sheeet(s) from the helinox chair sinking into soft ground. Useful for kneeling on when getting kit sorted, maintaining your bike etc. Ive even used my half mat asa windshield for a small cookfire/barbeque. I love the solo to be honest, packsize is that bit smaller with more than enough living space for me AND the wife when motorcycle touring.
I use my Atacama mostly for car or canoe camping when i have more kit with me.
    Stay safe !
    Si (UK)

Love my Redverz Exped II that I bought like new for $100 Canadian(Craigslist)...that's about $70 in Yu'all money! Pack it on my Stelvio, and like yours a GREAT combo. I us the Helinox max cot with legs topped with sea 2 summit LW pad so it's easy to get in and outta bed. Savanna chair.

I don't get putting the bike inside except keeping it out of sight if you go hiking or something. You can get a water proof bike cover the size of a deck of cards if you want to keep it dry. The vestibule works better for chilling on a chair out of the weather. And for people saying it's too big, wait till you are 40+ and tell me that. Comfort is more important as you get older!

    • @KendallAdventureandTravel

I keep my bike in after any gathering is over and its bed time, it saves me from carrying a cover and I use the bike as a spot to hang damp clothes, charge comm units etc. But I do understand your point....Dave

Very nice, does it have fly nets in the doors so you can get more air in the summer?

    • @KendallAdventureandTravel
      @KendallAdventureandTravel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

There are nets on the inner tent doors, and also on the 3rd door of the vestibule part, but not on the front and back door that you would pull the bike in from, does that make sense. While inside the sleeping part, I often open the inner tent door to allow air flow from the vestibule, garage area....Hope that helps..Dave

Dave I just purchased the Atacama Tent, I’m trying to decide where to strap the tent on the bike when traveling. In the opening you had yours on the ride pannier, is that where it travels? I ride the BMW R 1250 GS similar to yours and have the hard panniers also.

I am from France and I appreciate a lot your vdo’s. Thanks for that! I am looking for a new tent and here in Europe, the Lone Rider moto tent is very popular. If you had to buy a new tent, should you go to the Redverz or the Lone Rider ?
Thanks a lot for your reply 😊
