    Just to claify at 20:56, the NIGHT trim (New for 2023) DOES include the 2.5T with the DCT. It is very close to a base SEL in terms of equipment but with the larger engine. 21:20 California Sand is available as an exterior color and reaplced Mojave Sand. They look very close.

    1) I love the dual clutch. Works fine on the farm I live on.

    • @palebeachbum
      @palebeachbum ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'm surprised to hear that because dual clutch transmissions hate crawling. They're just not designed for it. I am glad to hear the engine is dual injected. Someone else told me it's GDI only, which would suck big time long term.

    We bought a 2023 Santa Cruz SEL in November. Love it BUT the passenger seat isn't electric. Since I'm 5'1" I have to sit on a cushion. The driver's seat is power, I think they should both be electric.
    Another issue is there's no built-in compass. Tough for the directionally challenged LOL
    One more issue, I have to buy an after market rear view mirror to link it with our garage door opener.
    I still love ❤️ it and praying it lasts as long as our 2005 Jeep Liberty which currently has over 200,000mi plus has a compass and link to garage door opener (but no safety measures like the Hyundai).

    Can you elaborate on why the 8 spd non turbo is more suitable for off-road purposes than the DCT version?

    • @indysteve4969
      @indysteve4969 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dcts get overheated if you are off-roading.

    I had an issue with the DCT in the 2019 Kia Niro and they wouldn't believe me until I brought it in a year later and they had to replace the entire transmission after it rough shifting after every stop.

    Very happy that in Canada they have a lot fewer "packages". We basically have 2...both have the bigger 2.5L engine, and the differences are really just cosmetic and "luxury" features. IMO this makes the buying process easier

      Still sucks that I can't buy in Canada just non turbocharged SC. Instead of 45K I would pay under 40K for SEL.

    Sparse interior. I've looked around, and a base model maverick with 4 wheel drive for around $25,000 is the best value. It doesn't have the hybrid engine, but it's more dependable, and it still gets 30 MPG. The Santa Cruise is hard to sell because it's way overpriced. Subaru had the same problem with the Baja. It was overpriced. One of these car-maker pinheads should make a 2 seat sport truck with very few options, standard AWD, all electric, 150 miles range, heat/AC, radio, and a place to plug in my phone. Picture all weather commuter car with a motorcycle price. $15,000

    I’m very shocked these guys haven’t addressed the many recalls and issues Hyundai/KIA have had with their engines (and dual clutch transmission) including the newer Theta III engines found in the Santa Cruz . There’s a reason Hyundai/KIA recently had to set aside $2.2 billion for warranty issues. Are they unaware of these issues or complicit like the rest of car media?

    If only they used the regular 8 spd auto trans on all the trims of the Santa Cruz. The dual clutch version is trouble. (And yes warranty would cover any issues but let's be real, do you really want to have a tech remove the motor and trans and stick a new one in? Its never put back together right. Im sure some techs will do a perfect job but when it comes to warranty work its all about speed...maybe some holts aren't tight, maybe wiring isn't routed or clipped back to the way it waa from factory). I don't trust dealership repair work anymore, no matter the brand)

    I thought about buying a Santa Cruz but ended up buying a Honda Element because it suited my needs just enough while saving a ton of money. Plus, the Element aged very well. Having the removeable or fold away seats basically turns it into an enclosed truck. I definitely would say that the Element is a great alternative for someone considering the Santa Cruz.

    Looks like it comes in the Sand colorway. You just can't build it for delivery on the Hyundai website.
