This is our HTC U11 unboxing!
If there's a company that has proven that it can return to its roots in basic things like an unboxing it's HTC. Even if the U Ultra wasn't as Ultra as we expected, the unboxing experience was awesome.. And now it's time to go a step further.

3165dwayne I don't think that's the case. I believe I remember seeing that the HTC 10 had the best audio output using headphones. But if what you're saying is true, then yes, i hope HTC can make this the phone with the best audio around.

Goran Petrovic the htc 10 never had a dac as good as the v20, look at the review for the best 2016 audiophile phones , the v20 has the best dac out there.
apple gummy what LG doesn't have is the audio engineering lvl of htc. many claim that in reality 10 beats V20 is loudness and even sound quality. I wouldn't agree at all that difference is big at all and am pretty sure 10 is louder and has better amp than V20. both are on top.
1) Battery life
2) Audio - speakers, included earbuds and 3.5 adapter
3) Camera, front and back
4) Maybe compare it to HTC 10
i really appreciate that HTC give us the clear case, other manufacture should follow this generosity.

Big Boss I just can't wait to take off that plastic sheet and see the back of that phone, it's just so striking, way more so than any recent Galaxy phone.
I've had only two HTC devices that are enough to help me see how the plastic wrapped around the phone is connected to the pull tab you use to get the phone out of the box (most reviewers don't even use that and turn the box upside down to get out the phone, haha). You just pull the tab all the way to the backside to get rid of the plastic Jaime. :)

I am so glad they squeezed decent boomsound speakers in this year and a 3.5 MIL booster Dac jack adaptor for your favourite CANS. you got me back on board HTC take my money.
To me one of the best looking phones is the HTC M7, they need to remake a new one.

Plastic on the back was kind of hard to Peel off because you blew it. There is a pull tab on the bottom to peel it the right way.

That phone is gorgeous! HTC didn't cheap out. Interested in how useful Sense Companion is, and battery life. Also, the overall experience.
I definitely want to see camera and audio comparison with HTC 10.
When Jaime uploads a new video, I feel a shiver crawl down my spine. I glance in the direction of my door to confirm that it is locked, as I slowly begin to unzip my pants. I click the play button, and the intro music overwhelms me with positive energy. I pause the video at just the right spot, where the Jaime is holding what appears to be a long, vicious-looking chained mace. With my face 2 inches away from the screen, I stare at the mighty phone reviewer Jaime and let my imagination take over. Tears of joy streak down my face at the thought of the mighty Jaime flaying me with the 5% battery charge left from android gains. When the deed is done, I heave a heavy sigh of relief as I sit back in my chair for a moment to catch my breath. Yet, the flame of desire still burns strong within me. With my fingers trembling slightly from the energy coursing through me, I lean forward to open a new tab in my web browser, and I google the phrase " iJustine bangbros video"....This night, is far from over.

Test it as you would a high end smartphone. Don't dwell too much on the look of the back (it's shiny fingerprint magnet) or the traditional screen ratio (most of us prefer this).

I agree with comments about the audio experience with the adapter. What's that like? Knowing that HTC included an adapter in the box is definitely making me consider it, even if the omission of the headphone jack is totally silly.

Hope HTC and Sony can recover from their current situation, I tend to like them more than Samsung or LG and wouldn't know what to buy in terms of quality, optimization and how good they age if they're gone

A few early videos show this outdoing the S8's camera, so most interested in that. Also want to see how battery life fares, the audio experience (especially noise cancelling headphones), and how well Edge Sense works.

It's not a quantum leap, but it's definitely a step in the right direction. A compelling reason to choose this over the LG G6 is having double the base storage from 32 to 64GB of storage.

I like to see some tests done with the phones recording quality. Nokia's high end Lumias were great in this regard but it seems like they were the only ones who cared about delivering the best audio and photography experience.
Would love to see how Sense is on the U11, how audio quality is with the adapter, and of course how well the noise cancellation works with the included ear-buds.
Waiting for that real audio review.
IMO this will be the most competitor for Samsung S8 and LG G6, that's why I would like to see comparisons for camera, battery, audio and display.
Idk how HTC has gone under Samsung and Apple. They always have such good phones. They pretty much paved the wave for big phones with their HTC Evo. Have a close to perfect UI. The main reason i switched from my M7 was because of the shitty camera. But damn did it look sexy
Richie Landeros I agree, but the only good thing about something like the M9 was the display, boomsound, software, and that's pretty much all.
Nice phone, would love to see a camera test or some sort of camparison, especially because HTC cameras weren't the best in the past.

This is a great phone, though. The only bad thing about it the lack of headphone jack.
And even then, the adapter in the box will still sound better than most phones that have a jack built in. Just stick the adapter on the end of your earbuds, get a lil tape, stick it together, and call it a day.

I agree on the glass though. Was seriously hoping for an aluminum phone, no one makes them anymore. I guess HTC thought it was time to jump ship. Oh well. I'll wait for the Pixel 2, might wait for the LG V30 (Seems to be the U11's only competitor in terms of media consumption), but I'll probably end up getting this.

I'm a proud owner of a htc 10, I love the audio quality with its headphone Jack, please do a audio Compare with the usb-c to headphone jack adaptor on the U11 vs Htc10 headphone Jack using some real headphones not the included ear buds
I'm most interested in whether there is a difference in quality in one or the other with headphones

Bench marks are not the be all but top camera and bench mark performance results are top of the tree. You know HTC s/ware will be super smooth /fast

HTC U-11 looks like it will be the best phone of the year.
I'd like to hear a comparison of the speakers from the U11 and one of the M7/8/9 phones.
For me the thing that makes HTC stand out these Days among other ANdroid phones is the audio. So that is what I want to hear more about.
Sadly that is the only thng I can see is left from what made HTC stand out "back in the day".

it's called HTC U Ocean in Norway and not U11, weird. i kinda like it, all the colors are beautiful, especially the light blue in the video.

U have to try that zoom in audio record. Guess every other company got something new to learn from hTC. aside from all metal body, Zoe, and dual front facing speakers etc.
can you test the headphones that they give you against the ones that you get when you get the galaxy s8?
could you compare the speaker volume against the U UTRA, would like to know if it's the same. are the the ear buds the same as the U UTRA with the noise cancelling being a new trick of the phone or can I buy these ear buds to give my U Ultra noise cancelling function?
could you also compare the included ear bus audio quality to the quality of the ear buds that come with the S8?

Compare the camera with other flagship phones. How good are the headphones, boom sounds. And battery.
If you can please do a full comparison with the HTC U11 and the Samsung galaxy s8.
Charge time with QC3.0. HTC batteries are usually not that big but the faster charging makes up for it. Camera as we know Juan Carlos Bagnell will do a real camera review. and micro scratch report. Most phones don't scratch but how quickly do they micro scratch ?

Has the U11 (and the 10 for that matter) improved on the vibration motor? I have an M8 and it's vibration motor is really weak.
Everyone just needs to make their backing like HTC, rest of the phone like Samsung, and stock OS like pixel. Do this and you can have all my money.
review request...I heard the front camera has eis and the rear camera has both eis and ois. I would assume the front camera will not be as steady as the front camera on the HTC 10?
