@@MuruganS Unfortunately, the credentials prompt has inexplicably popped up again after a few hours or so. Also, It appears that you should have both the client and server options checked in Method 2 for both [or all] devices if you want them (both) to act as either. I have attempted every method in this video (save Method 2) prior to watching this video, and then some. Both of the devices of interest are wired to the network and are running versions of Windows 11 on a "Private Network" with the public network sharing options and "Password protected sharing" in "Advanced sharing settings" disabled (although enabling these still doesn't work; and if I turn on "Password protected sharing" and make and provide login passwords for the local devices, I'm told the credentials are wrong still). Both devices have fresh installs of Windows with one local account each, never having been associated with any non-Local Windows accounts. The folders prepped for sharing have been given "Full Control" (Read/Write) permission for "Everyone". Thanks to Method 2 I have obtained/retained the ability to see the network devices in the file explorer's "Network" section, but I still receive the invalid credentials error. Assistance from anyone would be greatly, sincerely appreciated.
Update: Randomly the following day the file sharing worked, but it began asking for non-existent credentials again (the next day and since then). I don't know what makes the difference. If anyone figures it out please do tell. If I figure it out I will provide an update here.
Update: I can access both shared devices (and even move files between them) from Android devices on the LAN, so this appears to indicate the issue is with the Windows 11 OS [specifically, Windows 11 Pro for Workstations].
Thanks a lot. The first method worked perfectly. My question though is this: is it safe for me to leave all those settings on? Doesn't it make me more exposed to attacks?
@@MuruganS Hello, actially, the 2nd method was it, but 2 wks later again had the problem, and this time the 3rd method worked, had it on manual, set it to automatic and restarted. What is going on, this crazy 11 changes setting very often.... What's your opinion.....Greetings from Hunagary!
