I've been playing Mapex drums since 1995, and I have always been impressed with their drums. I've owned them all, and they're all good.

I really don’t know why a lot of people hate on mapex drums. There more affordable than most companies & the finishes on their drums are Beautiful. I’ve had my mapex for 7 years now and it’s glorious!

One reason because the CEO is an idiot. 2nd they make drums for only a small percentage of drummers. Not hard to figure out.

First off,, want to say loved the fact the you played just the drums without high end sound equipment. Most of the time when you actually play a kit after hearing one on video, and how some manipulate the sound to showcase it can be a reality check. I bought my first Mapex about 5 years ago and love it. Got a Mapex BP Velvetone in mint condition at the local Nashville Used music shop for a great deal. I was blown away when I demo'd it. I probably will never sell it. I like it's sound better than my two previous kits, which were a D.W., and Starclassic Rock set. I do miss my Tamas 24 inch bass though. Great playing by the way. 1st time subscriber.

Jared the Mapex Armory line sits just below the Saturn and is incredible value in the $1000-$1200 price range. If you do a vid on mid range kits I'd love to see the Armory. I'm saving for a Saturn and already own two Armory kits. Mapex is the best kit on earth for the price.

Do they still have horrible hardware? I bought a Mapex double pedal about 10 years ago and couldn't believe how bad the quality was, all the threads were so easy to strip, it ended up in a completely unusable state

@@Fucklesticks I have no idea what Mapex's hardware was like 10 years ago, but their Falcon line of premium hardware has been reliable to me. Take my comments with a grain of salt. I am not a touring musician. Touring musicians sometimes may have equipment get beat up in the course of travel.
No complaints about the cymbal stands.
The Falcon snare stand is my favorite snare stand, but every manufacturer makes great snare stands.
I have their Falcon hi-hat stand as well. Only 2 issues I had after fourteen months of use: had to replace the screw that connects the chain to the pedal; had to replace the top portion of the clutch. Other than that, no problems. The original chain is still intact. I use this stand for everything from practice at home to performances on stage. I definitely put it through heavy use.
I have the Falcon double pedal (their most expensive one). It has not broken on me after two years. However, I estimate that I only totaled about 75-100 hours of use on it. On a side note, I used to swivel on this pedal a lot. Somehow, it has not broken on me, but I would not recommend swiveling on it. I've seen too many comments from drummers who broke their Iron Cobras from swiveling, and I know Tama's hardware is not the issue. I stopped swiveling on it when I finally received my Trick double pedal.

I really love mapex drums. I really enjoy what they do. I’m more of an 2000s and 1990s mapex guy. But the evolution is really good!

The Orion Classic kits were just stellar with so many patented features. I miss the Mapex era from 1998-2006. Everything they made during that period was just incredible.

I heard the difference. Cranked up it sounds more tight and focused, decays faster rather than it open where it sounds resonant and full.

Your tom solo-ing is amazing! Very creative and expressive. But when demo-ing a kit, I'd love to hear some basic & simple grooves...

I've had a mapex mars pro, series with full length tension.rods, and saturn iv that have been my main gigging sets and I love them. Mapex makes great hardware too. I use a black panther snare also. 12x7.

Jared i know you are not familiar with mapex. but the evolution kit is probably the best sounding kit in the world for the price. Extraordinary drums

I recently switch to Mapex kits from Ludwig, and I'm really impressed with the sound, too. I'm waiting for Sweetwater to get new stock in (4 weeks, ugh) of their Black Panther Shadow snares, which sound great, too!

Funny you say that. I went from Ludwig CMs to Mapex Saturn and then back to Ludwig CMs....to each his own. Glad you're happy with the Mapex though

I had mapex pro m maple and it rocked but i sold it to buy my new kit. I shouldve kept it. My mom paid $1350 for a 6 piece years ago from musicians friend and the bonus why i wanted it and got it was free hardware kit included a free double pedal which at time needed badly and free black panther 12x5 snare i used as second tom cause kit was 1 up 2 down. It was great .

Only thing Mapex messed up is the badge placement, they shouldn’t be offset it looks out of place.

All greates firm, tama, yamaha, ludwig, dw and mapex etc. borow from sakae drums, bearing edgeve, system rims, tryaing to copy all aspect manufactured sakai drums and just maybe few litle, no name drum firms and evrything all dependant o production, effects, mic and how much money depends in promotion of drum. Simple.... Drum is the latest thing in their job. Just reclam nothing more, epp, coca cola, mc donalds etc. Sorry for my bad english. I am drummer from Croatia and play almost all firms from drums company, 40 years playing and learning witch snare, cymbal, head, pedals, beaters, ergonomic. All alone and pay for knowledge and i still learning........
