@8:28.. yeah, Slingerland started that a very, very, very long time ago with "Stick saver" hoops. The name is not a coincidence

The SATURNS have dat SMAKKKKK and the SATURN EVOLUTIONS have that too, but it's more depth ... I've played one live at a venue every single and the bass drum and the floor toms are exactly what Myles said ... THUNDEROUS !!

The bass drums really stand out on Mapex kits, and yep - the Evolution is no different! Great playing on your channel too, Curtis :)

I'm assuming you volume matched everything. If you did, this video is a great example of how much the placement of the kit in the room makes a difference. Those are the same wood kits, sound tuned basically the same to me, and the purple kit sounds like it was in the SWEET spot, those toms sound huge!

Is one of the kits demoed in the video the birch/walnut combo? If so, which color?

Hey Daniel. Both of these kits are the Maple/Walnut blend, but here's a video from Mapex showing a combination of Maple/Walnut and a Birch/Walnut in one kit! :) th-cam.com/video/oOhBh54_31M/w-d-xo.html
