I am now the proud owner of a Mapex Orion classic series kit. I've been wanting one since the late 90's and holey crap am i impressed with the sound it still makes. My only problem now is, i have to pack away my saturn kit............the troubles of owning 2 great drum kits. Lol.
Hi, I also own an Orion Classic, since 2000. 21 years after and it's still in superb shape, great sound, and so far no issues at all (shells, hardware, whatever). I've always prefered the Orion Classic to any Saturn, and to be honest, I prefer older Saturn III to new ones (IV and further). I also had a Saturn (the first generation) wich had a great sound but with crappy hardware, but with Saturn III, the hardware was kinda the same as Orions, so it was great.
The offset badges look terrible. Could have easily put them in the open space on the tom instead of lowering it, looks so silly. The halo mount is overkill, compared to the old soniclear mounts which are fantastic
Everyone, STOP buying Mapex until they return from stupid and start mounting toms on the bass drum again. Enough is enough. No one in the audience will yell, "Your toms don't resonate as well mounted to the bass drum compared to toms on a stand". No one will give a crap or hear the difference, if there is a difference. Mapex come back to reality. I'm tired of having to do this and that and this and that to build a normal kit. Who wants to carry heavy stands to support toms and adjust ... adjust the tom stands every freaking time you setup for gigs. STOP the nonsense.
I totally understand you, I really like Mapex but my issue is that the toms Aren't mounted on the bass drum, i don't understand the point of having a virgin bass drum, I hate it. I love my bass drum to be filled. Petition for ending the "virgin bass drum" .
Yeah that’s gotta be the silliest thing I’ve ever heard Mapex drums were ugly and look terrible visually and were a pain in the butt to set up on stage when they were mounted on the kick drum the best thing Mapex could’ve ever done was move away from That kick drum mounting system and start mounting like they do right now that was precisely the reason I never wanted to Buy a mapex because of how Ugly they looked Mounted to the kick drum

I respect your opinion 100% , personally I don't like tama, I have a old one tama vintage birch and I don't like it. I will buy mapex Saturn evolution maple walnut

I love Tama too but this Mapex evolution kit is out of this world. Mapex hit a home run here
