- For decades, the former Equinox restaurant drew long lines for its slowly rotating floor and panoramic views, but the Hyatt shuttered it in 2007 and stopped its ability to spin. Now, the iconic location is being revived. STORY: abc7ne.ws/3U1ijWA

The Equinox was always a great place to take our out of town guests and usually was a memorable experience. Glad to see it running again.
Nobody wants to go to SF because it looks like little Haiti 🇭🇹
@@chuckxu5910 nobody wants to visit your mama's basement and you in your dirty tighty whitey's either... Glass houses, troll! Glass houses!
Plus they’ll remove your car windows for free!
Was built by the Herrick corp. in Hayward my dad had a hand in its build. Had many late night cocktails up there in the 80’s and glad to see it up and running again 👍
Wow finally, for me this probably is one of the best news in recent memories about San Francisco. 👍
THAT, is pretty cool!! Glad to see something from the past come back to life. 😁👍
I’ve been there my mom and dad placed a quarter on the windowsill and by the time we came back around there is three more quarters with it😊
How cute !
Neat!
I cannot wait to go!!!
same
Yep see you there
Oh Wow I never knew there was a spinning restaurant! Hope this bring more businesses into SF.
Slowly rotates for excellent views. Doesn't spin.
I had drinks with my friends there when it used to open to public. Really nice view from the restaurant.
The Equinox. I remember it well. The live music, the culinary experience, the presentations, the helpful and thoughtful servers, and the distinct decorations, such as the dozens of red roses. The late-night stroll in the adjacent park. Good times way back when the city was quite different than what it is today, unfortunately. The reopening of the restaurant shines like a ray of hope. City leaders have quite a bit of work to do to restore the essence of what SF once was. Small businesses are boarded up with some tagged by vandals directly across the street and just blocks away from the Hyatt Regency. Perhaps it'll take a new breed of leadership (no pun intended) to breathe new life, new stricter policies and accountability, to restore safety and once again attract new businesses large and small back to the city, along with much needed revenue including tourism, etc.. JMHO.
California is already done for. By the time it gets to true 3rd world status, and the ignorant liberals figure it out, all the wealthy conservatives that could have saved it will be gone. California also has an unfunded pension liability that no amount of false future tax revenue estimates can keep up with. Wait until all these people with Gov't jobs and benefits get told their pensions are underfunded..... never mind, they'll just blame the wealthy conservatives that moved out of California who have been funding this state for the last 40 years.
Only a fool would stroll in the park nowadays!
I dined at the Equinox with a friend 18 years ago it was awesome!
I’ve never been there I hope they open it for everyone soon.
San Francisco is a nice city, was there two weeks ago, didn't see to many homeless like fox news saying
How fun!
Great potential to film timelapse
Yay!
Love San Francisco...i miss it
The spinning Equinox restaurant. Seems like a thousand years ago. Back when San Francisco was the place we left our hearts, and not the place we left all sense of safety.
So stupid. San Francisco is safer than it's ever been.
I've been there on a date. Memories
I remember visiting this place in my youth. I’m glad it’s working again.
Can they turn up the speed to 33 1/3 RPM? Whee!
Let’s go for 85 RPMs, ludicrous speed!
I have always loved that place. I'm going back tomorrow.
Went there with my wife and her cousin from out of town during the Christmas season about 20 years ago.A great experience!
People just love hate on SF !!! Haters gonna hate !
The Equinox was a vibrant place. The Bay Area smooth jazz station KKSF 103.7, now plays 80's music, used to do Sunday Brunch there at the Equinox.
I remembered my ex took me there many years ago. It was a memorable time. The views were beautiful. I'm glad they opened again.🎉🎉🎉🎉
Wow nice, me and my wife went to the restaurant many years ago and had so much fun. 🙂
I had my dinner for prom at the Equinox. Never knew this existed until a friend told me. It was then a sight to see and hopefully they will restore it to it's former glory if not better.
I remember going there as kid with my family, and I not to long ago a guest at my job had asked me if you’re that place was still in rotation and and unfortunately I let her know that that place has been off the grid for some time now I didn’t realize that it had been 17 years. I’m so glad to hear the news especially that particular hotel is my favorite in the city
I remember going there when I was a kid when regular people could gi to nice places in sf. Now these places are just for the 1%.
We’re saved! We’re saved!
Lol. A Dart motor controller? I forgot those existed!
I forgot it Spins.... Haven’t been in there since ( 2000 New Years Party )
I like to take visitors up there to have dessert.
I like being up there because it's really far away from the poop.
and the shit thanks you.
What goes up , Must come down.
@victor-it6bv like your face !
@@mmjcralike your face 😂
haters gonna hate

Down shutting after years 17 again spinning Francisco San in restaurant rotating iconic
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I had no idea this restaurant stopped turning! Seems really odd and short-sighted that a business would let its main customer draw sit idle for 17 years. Not very smart!
Had one of these in St. Louis and it was cool at night but don’t set anything down like a purse. You might be looking for it for an hour.
Well its not Bellini restaurant on the 45th floor but at least they're trying to reclaim some lost charm to the area.
As long as there is no earthquakes
it is too dangerous to go to downtown sf
Your banner cut off parts of the picture I would like to have seen. ABC, do better.
I used to go here in the 80s this is great!
2004 they wouldn't let me and my friends up for dinner because we didn't have a room... 👎
Too bad it is in San Fran
A 360 degree view of all the poop spots below, lovely just lovely
You don’t see the street. You see the grand vistas.
you know you don't have to go up. just keep your sorry depressing ass where it is. nobody will notice.
@chipsrafferty8326 like your face !! 😂
@chipsrafferty8362 typical foreigner comment. never been here speaks like they know everything. smh.
@@nueat6 well now,how presumptive of you…..a foreigner indeed,I will have you know that a foreign person I am not.
What a homeless encampment that would be.
Let them live with you then! Problem solved!
Cool…now we can witness the crime in a revolving restaurant.
Crime is at an all time low in San Francisco. It’s not been this low since 1970. If you want to see crime, you’ll need to move to a red state, where it’s forty percent higher. Houston had 477 murders last year. San Francisco had 55. That’s according to the police statistics of both cities. Texas is a cesspool of mass shootings and homicide.
Sounds like a nice place for me to smoke fent.
I’m sure your mom’s basement is even better. Drugs aren’t legal in San Francisco, and you could be arrested.
The hotel entrance smells like piss, go figure.
So does pretty much all of downtown sf but you guys are used to it 😂
San Fran. is saved! 🤣
Now they just need tourists to risk coming in to San Fran. You first.
They should open up the windows for a full-surround feces smell effect, pairs well with Chardonnay.
This place is for rich people… it’s high enough so you can’t see or smell the peasants below.
thank you for your service but this isn’t in the poop zone
Cool you can watch the homeless take a shit on the street and your car being broken into while you have a drink!
Desperate for customers. you could not pay me to visit anymore.
Yes, 360 view of fecal and regressive criminal activity.
And enjoy a $15 beer! (OK after tax tip and fees more like $20)
@@user-jc7jb3bu5s We’ll pay you to stay away.
Bad news on that bar tab- likely surcharges are 28%, and 8.63% sales tax on that total- then the tip.
Yup.
Now you can see the crime, homeless camps, and empty businesses in 360 degrees! (sarcasm)
Gottta have that one “Token” in the group. 🤣
Dragged out of the kitchen, it appears. 🤣
Be a great place to set up a tent community.
Build a better Bay Area? Just another playground for the rich. Better to see the homeless 360 while chowing down and getting high.
lmao looks like a jail
Now they can see garbage in 360 degrees
that’s nowhere near the garbage
@thecapricorn11 the garbage isn't restricted to a containment zone
@brianwashington9148 👈the idiot has arrived. Every comment section has one. 30+ floors up and they have views of the streets below. smh
They can get a better view of the homeless camps.
Shitt city
"Build A Better Bay Area": That slogan is nothing but MORE Socio-Fascist Democrat Political Copremesis(period) !
~Thats Probably a Sign that a Big Earthquake is Coming to Shut it Down Again....
San Francisco's "Spiral Of Death" personified 🌀🌉☠
Is that why San Francisco ranks as world’s best city to live in, according to a British magazine’s poll? It beat out Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Manchester, London and New York. Such a dump.
Isn’t the Hyatt closing tho?
