We’ve got some new leaks and important information to go over about the State of Play, the last PlayStation event of 2024, and by far the most important one, especially after the intense backlash Sony got in response to the price of the PS5 Pro.

It’s been a wild ride for Sony this month, from the rapid success of Black Myth Wukong-one of the fastest-selling games ever-to the catastrophic flop of Concord, now the biggest failure in AAA gaming history. On top of that, the PS5 Pro reveal faced serious backlash due to its unexpectedly high price point, especially outside the U.S., with a focus on older PS5 and PS4 games during the showcase. Despite the controversy with some critics and fans saying the PS5 pro is a scam, analysts project that the PS5 Pro will sell 13 million units over the next 5 years, following the sales trend of the PlayStation 4 Pro. But if Sony wants to exceed expectations, they’ll need to bring their A-game at the upcoming State of Play.
According to insiders like Lunatic Ignus and Jeff Grubb, we’re expecting the State of Play on either the 23rd or 24th of September, right before the Tokyo Game Show when pre-orders for the PS5 Pro will go live. Fans are hoping for updates on Resident Evil 9, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and the highly anticipated Spider-Man 2 DLC featuring Carnage. Plus, there’s buzz about Marvel’s Wolverine and a potential Venom spin-off game. Seriously 700 dollars for a PS5 with no disc drive is some bullshit 😂 , also speaking of Spider-Man I started replaying Marvel's Spider-Man and man this game hits different afrer not playing it for a long time and i think i might love the first game more the second game , it has a stronger story and the combat mechanics hold up even though i do miss the web wings plus Spidey feels like a beast in the first game 🕷️🕸️🔥

This is a niche product that won't sell too much, just like PS4 Pro. They can put a high price because that people will buy it either way.
A base console needs to be under $499 to generate a market for the live services and games, but a console that improves graphics it's just for a select group of people.
I'm sure the PS6 will not be this expensive and not that much more powerful, but games will use 100% of that power... something the Pro versions will never do.

The pocket watching is crazy. If Xbox hadn't crashed and burned this generation Sony wouldn't be competing with itself. $700 is closer to the actual value of these consoles. They've been selling them at a loss with the expectation that console ownership would keep growing but it hasn't. It's smart business

I've heard some rumors that the SoP is mostly going to be indies and third-party games which i hope isn't true. After Concord, Sony needs to restore player faith and show off their 2025 road map. Give us ponies at least something to expect next year.

My only reasoning for Spider-Man DLC being free is it wasnt announced ahead of time like the City That Never Sleeps. I'm pretty sure the big hack revealed the fact they were gonna be free regardless. The game's huge budget probably accounted for it. If they're not free, I will be crashing out
The big budget is exactly why I don't expect it to be free. They went over budget and I expect Sony will be trying to improve those margins because of how much they have to pay Disney

Technology has moved forward, the PS5 Pro should be £100 more expensive given it's been 4 years since the PS5 released. I suspect the PS5 and PS5 Pro cost the same to produce.
As Brits, we would not have mind paying $699 as that translates £532 sterling. However, we have to pay £700 sterling, which is equivalent to $918 !!!!

If they do make Venom solo game, I think either Flash Thompson or Eddie Brock should be his host this time. I admit having Harry Osborn as Venom serve as a antagonist and final boss for Marvels Spider-Man 2 was a acceptable move, but to have Venoms own game star him instead of either Eddie Brock or Flash Thompson would just be a middle finger to fans of the character.

what would actually make sense would be an 'Anti-Venom' game, Harry's still sick and needs a cure and Peter is using a perfectly good symbiote that has all benefits and no negatives, Peter doesn't need a symbiote, Harry would make a great Anti-venom.

The people btching about the PS5 pro price are probably the same people that got too comfortable with console prices even though in every other avenue that involves technology the prices have risen substantially due to price of components. PS5, sony break even, xbox series X, Microsoft breaks even. The PS5 Pro is a luxury item where sony can finally make a profit. Everyone needs to go outside and touch some fresh kentucky long grass.
Give me the numbers. I know for a fact that's probably bull. The steamdeck has an APU based on the same architecture used by sony and microsoft for this gen think of it as a xbox series S minus 4 cores. And that goes for about 329 starting? You can find it for less online usually, and that has a screen a bit less ram and ram chips arent worth hundreds of dollars. Apple makes boat loads of money because the equipment cost is nothing it's 80% margin profit. Manufacturing costs did not spike if at all at the part level, the only thing that is risky in their production is thr gallium used for the liquid metal that's it. GPU prices dont apply for this it's an APU, and an AMD APU those dont cost much to make. Sony is just greedy now, and they're full of it, and I'm not sticking around for it anymore. Sony at this point is ran by clowns and accountants who don't know who the core audience or customer is. When the ps4 pro came out, it came out at a time when sure the base console was OK but that thing had a tangible difference in resolution an extra half gig or one gig of ram faster processor and a beefier GPU. This is just a GPU bump while everything else seems to be the same, at the same time almost doubling the price in other regions. In AMDs applet design platform, they only need to tweak the GPU core whole maintaining everything else, this is cheaper than making something new or boosting other components like the cpu and cache for the cpu, none of that it's only the GPU from the looks of it. Man I hate sony
@@mansour127 bro go watch digital foundry. They even explain it for a simple money to understand. Anyone who doesn't want to deal with PC and what parts are compatible with what parts and so forth are why people are driven to buy a console. Also optimization is better for consoles because of the limits the consoles have. And yes the price of PC parts has increased over the years which translates to consoles increasing in price as well. Dude, the drive is sold out because of scalpers. Plenty in my country where there's not a big scalper culture. I could walk into any store and get a few. Maybe because the few scalpers here are not sure anyone will buy it for freaking 800 euro and will get stuck with the drives unsold. So definitely scalpers there in the US, not actual buyers. It's PS5 release all over again there.

Off topic but now that I think about it marvel or the gaming companies for marvel should make a black widow game.
She shouldn’t be portrayed as like she was in the mcu.
The game would have to consist of lots of the traumatizing red room, making it like very serious. Like a serious game not a lot of laugh moments but very subtle. It should feel like a Batman game and should be very stealth and the combat should be different every time she fights/unique.
The setting should be like in a city at night like Batman Arkham knight, prison cells and should show lots of her traumatizing childhood and should show what the experiments were to show her traumatizing realistic background. Or like another setting is in the forests. Or I don’t know, lots of settings work with her
But for her skins she should get the mcu/comic/animation skins like earths mightiest heroes and the other animation cartoons

People crying about the price tag just need to STFU, seriously. You can NOT expect consoles to give you the power of a high end PV and keep their prices at $500. That’s fucking ignorant.
No not really, the tooling did not change much, and the core design of the APU is more less the same, only a minor tweak to the GPU and probably stuck in a neural engine or two for the AI upscaling that's it. The cpu is more or less the same if they hadn't mentioned any speed boosts there. And the cost isnt even the main problem, the problem is there isnt any notable games and they're releasing another console, the folks who already bought the console earlier are having a serious case of buyers remorse. What they probably will pin the price increase on is the on board memory stretch to 2tb which as a m.2 ssd you can get for about 200$ or less and as raw chips to integrate that would be even less, and the GPU tweak. Price doesn't seem worth it though. I'd still recommend folks who want to get a ps5 to get a disc based base console, but me I'm moving fulltime to nintendo since I play most games on the switch anyway, and I'll get a steamdeck or gaming laptop for everything else. Sony stinks at this point

They're trying to make the standard PS5 look bad to make the PS5 Pro will look good by putting AAA games on its lowest settings for PS5 and highest for the PS5 Pro. FPS and Graphics will still depend on the game and your Monitor/TV Screen. You will not need "Advanced Ray Tracing" on games that aren't compatible with it.

Are you on Drugs? The starting price of the PS5 Pro is $100 higher in Europe, and $150 higher in Japan than in America lmfao. America's sales tax ranges from 2.9% to 7.25%. The state with the highest sales tax in America is California so the absolute most an American would pay for the base PS5 Pro is $750. Colorado has the lowest sales tax so it's $720 and there are 5 states with no sales tax at all, so it's just $699. Brazil's tax rate ranged from 40 to 50% on electronics, so a lot of them are paying over $1000 for the PS5 Pro.

From my “understanding” Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man, as they bought the intellectual property from Marvel. It is Disney who pays Sony to borrow Spider-Man, as he was needed for the Infinity War saga. This is why Sony is the only company to have Spider-Man games now. Disney has paid Sony to borrow Spider-Man for like 3 to 4 films in the MCU. But if I’m wrong about this, then someone tells me where I’m wrong.

This is misinformation that's been debunked. Most of the sales are from regular people, nobody is even buying from Scalpers because there is no supply chain caused shortage from the pandemic. So people can still get them. Current sales projection is 13 million units over 5 years

My opinion people complaining to much about the price. Here in Denmark when the first ps5 came out it was sold out and people gave about 1000$ for them so I don’t see what the big problem it’s. It will do better in games than the first and slim. And we all know it. The complaining. People will buy the pro anyway. They just like to show them off and say here I am see me 😂. I might get the pro, but only because i accidentally bought the discless original ps5 so no swapping in a disc drive module for me. As for getting Pc over console, I have issues with my hands that are made worse when playing on a keyboard and mouse that doesn't happen with controllers so I stick with consoles because of it, though if it wasn't an issue I would buy a pc over this.
you can just use a controller for games, most games have built in controller support (especially if they have ports on other consoles) and steam has something
You can use any controller on the PC.
I have a ROG Ally and that is only controller obviously and I've played hundreds of games. Only had issues with one game, and that was a poorly ported mobile game. But even that had controller support.

Wolverine will b on the base ps5 bit the pro will have major advantages over the base game. Wolverine is first party so it's gonna look amazing on both the pro will just have certain stuff the base won't. Their will b more graphic modes than what they showed I know that

I look at like this if ur ok with your base ps5 than cool don't buy the pro but if you want the best performance and fidelity for ALL your first party games and alot of third party games, than buy the pro. Not all of 3rd party of course because their will b some third party who won't take advantage of the pros power
My disc drive actually arrived today and i will absolutely be ordering a Pro on the 26th. I get why they're not for everyone,i really do, and its not really necessary but I have the money and this is my main hobby so.... let's go

Personally 4K fidelity mode with 60 fps for 700 is not bad at all. Especially if you are familiar with pc gaming. The no disc drive is wack though, most Sony games are one and done and you sell them or toss them to a friend.

PS5 disc version new is 500-550 euro.
PS5 Pro is 800 euro.
Plus 120 euro for a disc drive.
Plus 30 euro for the stand.
Makes 950 euro.
That's not '50 to 80 more expensive', but hundreds.
I'm in USA. I'm talking about prices in my country. Not sure why the disc drive is marked up 50% but how much do actually 4k drives cost? So it's not a bad deal.

The thing that gets me is sony is selling the PS5 pro like it's 2020, but the fact is technology has moved forward. The tech inside the PS5 Pro is older gen hardware, and I suspect the PS5 Pro actually costs about the same to make as the original PS5 when that was released.
