  • Boosted performance. Flexible management. Higher security.
    Experience “efficiency” with QNAP NAS! QTS 5.1.0 comes with SMB multichannel for increased performance and fault-tolerant connections, advanced drive analysis and RAID disk replacement that safeguards your data, delegated administration to ease management workloads, support for Hailo-8™ AI accelerator for boosted large-scale surveillance video recognition performance, and much more.

    Supports AES-128-GMAC for SMB signing acceleration
    SMB signing (also known as security signatures) is a security mechanism in the SMB protocol. For business applications that demand high-level security, SMB signing helps enhance file sharing security by protecting against interception attacks. However, SMB signing can also negatively impact data transmission performance.
    QTS 5.1.0 supports AES-128-GMAC signing acceleration (only in Windows Server 2022 and Windows 11 clients) that not only greatly increases data signing efficiency over SMB 3.1.1 but also enhances the CPU utilization of the NAS system - providing the best balance of security and performance.
    Delegated administration to boost management productivity and ensure data security
    Administrators group users, who have full authority of the NAS, can delegate 8 types of roles to other users with specified permissions to management tasks and NAS data. For organizations that continue growing, role delegation helps ease management workloads. Learn more
    Sharing administrative tasks and responsibilities with other staff not only relieves management burdens but also ensures operational reliability if management staff is absent. Each pre-defined role can only perform specific tasks and access data with limited authority - providing clear responsibilities and data security. Explore delegated roles and privileges
    Automatic RAID disk replacement with spares before potential failure
    If potential drive errors are noticed, QTS 5.1.0 automatically moves data from the affected disk in a RAID group to a spare disk, before the data on the affected disk is completely corrupted. By removing the need to wait for the system to replace drives (from hours even to weeks) only after a failure occurs, system reliability is greatly improved and removes the need for RAID rebuild.
    Improved drive health analysis and failure prediction
    Powered by a cloud AI engine provided by ULINK, the ULINK DA Drive Analyzer intelligently predicts if one of your drives is near failure - allowing you to plan for replacements and service continuity before drive failure occurs. Regarding delegated administration, the role “System Management” and “System Monitoring” has privileges for using the DA Drive Analyzer.
    Monitor and manage multiple NAS using AMIZ Cloud orchestrator management platform
    AMIZ Cloud is a centralized cloud management platform that empowers administrators to easily manage devices across multi-sites from a single place - especially ideal for organizations with multiple sites or branches. Now, AMIZ Cloud can remotely monitor not only QuCPE Network Virtualization Premise Equipment but also QNAP NAS.
    Manage devices across multiple organizations
    In Organization Centre, organization owners (IT staff or managed service providers) can create more organizations for businesses, add devices to different organizations, and invite users to the organization as administrators to help manage devices in the organization. Owners can grant owner privileges to up to 200 administrators per organization.
    Manage and search files easily with the new File Station
    File Station is the master of managing all your files from NAS and connected devices (including USB devices, SD cards, remote NAS, cloud services, and more). Operated with an easy-to-use interface, File Station simplifies everyday file browsing, access, and searching.

    Thanks for sharing Craig, one thing I did notice that the new container app does not allow you to access the link to the image that is running such as Homebridge in my case. Previous version had a link. Hopefully something to pass along to change in the Beta.

    I wish buy QNAP Nas but this Qnap's still don't have sftp protocol for non admin users. Why? Synology, Terramaster and Asustor has that for long time - why not QNAP?

    Wow.... thanks Craig amazing video, I did the update but my version here in the US is QTS 5.0.1.2346, and I notice my OS still looks like my old one even when I go and signing still showing the user name and password, should I reset my nas or I just have to wait for the QTS 5.0.1.2348 version to pop up on my nas? ( Also I did notice it is a Beta version) gain thank you and GOD BLESS!!!

    I'm very happy to see those improvements to QTS.The first login is a little overwhelming with all those Pop Up Windows for my opinion. Maybe less is more. According to my experience with QTS5.0.1 is there a high chance that you have to reload your browser-tap if the NAS is under high-load. Give it please a shot.

      I go through that setup wizard about 10-20 times a week for various purposes, I will agree that I personally would prefer less pop-ups... but honestly for most people that only go through this setup once when they first setup their NAS, it's honestly good advice on the pop-ups, few hints and tips that will really help to make your NAS secure.

      @@QNAPUK I din't aspekt at first to re-doo that setup process often as i have today. I learnd from that a lot. Also from watching tutorials and reading the manual. I think if you start to use a NAS you will learn with the device over time somehow. Some funktions like the Webserver could be deactivated on default that the NAS not respawns on that specific Port in firstplace. Qfirewall are for me most importent. With Qfirewall i open up just paths they are needed. In case of an accident i wish there is a function to say "this RJ45-NIC is the management port" to be allways open.

    Hi, super quick question. I have just ordered my first qnap and can’t wait!
    Unfortunately I have to wait a few days until my drives arrive. Am I able to go through some of the initial setup whilst waiting for the drives? I want to have a play!

    • @QNAPUK
      @QNAPUK  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unfortunately not, the NAS will not really get further than a couple of steps in the setup wizard without drives inserted.

    Hi Greg, great video, question, what do you think it is better, 1 big volume or 2 volumes ( 1 for system app and the other one for storage) I the nas will be use only to store and stream family videos and pictures? Qts 5.1 is ok or I should use quts hero?
    Note: I did have both os systems installed in the past on a nas, and I noticed that quts hero did work better with the photo, video and qumagie apps while streaming on the go, in the other hand qts 5.1 was very slow loading the apps specially qumagie, any of this 2 os works better with this app or they have the same performance? I like qts 5 because we can add or replace a ssd or hdd. Thanks for your time honestly without your videos it would be almost impossible to set up my nas the right way, because I just learning every day something new.

      Really depends on your needs. Personally I am using 2 volumes... 1 for all my apps/data and another specifically for QVR Pro. My main reason for separating QVR Pro is that I am using an SSD cache and I do not want to accelerate the QVR Pro recordings.
      For me I am using QTS as I can get away with a smaller/lower power NAS with less RAM, does what I need it to. QuTS hero is excellent, but you need 32GB RAM ideally (more if you use some other features in it) and I am using QVR Pro which is not available in QuTS hero, only QVR Elite.

      @@QNAPUK thanks Craig, also Do you know what is going on with Qumagie? It doesn't let me log in but Quvideo does and works amazing for me, I am about get another app for pictures like Photosync for nas. Any advice? Quvideo works great on wifi and on the go, but qumagie only in a wifi, ( both have the same settings) thanks again

      Sorry no, not sure what is happening on that one, probably best to open up a support ticket for some investigation on that one.

    I'm using QuTS atm, but keep looking at QTS again for some of the expandability options re RAID. TS-873A unit which I feel pretty meh about.

    • @QNAPUK
      @QNAPUK  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe the guys behind OpenZFS are working on more flexibility within ZFS as a whole, unfortunately we are not in charge of their schedule for when it will be implemented, namely they are looking at options to add drives to existing RAID groups, which will make expansion more flexible.

    • @alexsarbu3978
      @alexsarbu3978 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@QNAPUK I'm watching the Github page for that RAIDZ expansion feature... the development is in a pretty advanced stage but there's very little activity in the last months (no commits since November).
      Nothing on the RAIDZ Migration, and given the specifics of ZFS I guess that won't be coming. These require some kind of nasty conversion of the internal ZFS structures, rather than the simpler block operations of a mdraid migration. (The RAIDZ expansion feature would simply move the data blocks to avoid this problem)
      OTOH single disk to mirror (and adding disks to a mirror) are AFAIK already supported in ZFS, but the QuTS GUI doesn't offer the option.

    i have a problem making ts-453d storage to my Hik NVR by NFS...
    i do all the steps and after adding the storage it won't format its always gives device error
    can u help me?

    • @QNAPUK
      @QNAPUK  ปีที่แล้ว

      NFS doesn't get formatted... it's already basically a file system being presented when you mount it. Did you perhaps need to use iSCSI as you can format that. Might be one for HikVision support.

      You can set a power schedule for the NAS to Power On & Off, if that would help?

      We do not support or give advice on changing the built-in CPU on any QNAP NAS. Our forums might be a better place to ask this, in case someone else tried it already.

    Gosh, I really like QNAP hardware, but that software ? what a mess, how difficult can it be to create a clean software OS? especially on linux.

      I agree, an example of their buggy software, Syslog has been disabled on all my Qnaps, somehow when I go to the Resource Monitor > Processes Syslog is still running. WTF. They wonder why they have ransomware.
