The name of Japan is written as 日本 in Japanese language. 日 = the Sun, 本 = origin.
We can see the word 日本 in a document written in the 8th century. Probably the word has been used since the second half of the 7th century.
The document says a flag of an image of the Sun was used for Emperor's event in 701. Its design detail is unwritten on the document. Traditionally Japanese draw the Sun as a perfect circle. But we don't know the color of the Sun on the flag was red or other in the event.
雲峰寺 Unpoji Buddhism temple has the design 🇯🇵 flag that was used in 1056. It's the oldest flag that we can see today.

About the Greek Flag: in 1822 the (first) flag of Greece was different from today's flag (as seen on this video) - was a white cross on a blue background. The modern Greek Flag 🇬🇷 with the white cross on the blue background and the nine blue & white stripes was adopted as the Flag of the Greek state in 1978. We didn’t start using the US flag with 50 states until 1960s. A kid made it to welcome the islander states then and it was admitted a bit after, correct me if I’m wrong, it was 1967. And Vietnam’s flag, the iconic red bg and yellow star was adopted in 1945 when North Vietnam became Russian communist. South Vietnam used a yellow bg and three red stripes, but after communism ended the og flag took over in about 1975. Already watching into 1881 and still didn’t see Vietnam

Austrian Flag is one of the oldest flags in the world. Proud of it.
I don't know why they still don't use purple or pink colors on flags to this day, originally nobody used them because the pigment was basically non-existent or prohibitively expensive to produce so only the cheapest pigments were feasible to use on flags. Nowadays there are no restrictions on colors and yet even the newest flags use the same old limited palettes from centuries ago.

That mexican flag wasn't used in 1810 but in 1975. That United States flag wasn't used until 1960. The current german flag started duty in 1949, we all know how it looked 4 years before thanks to our moustache friend. So... You add Mexico's 1975 flag as from 1810, and United States' 1960 flag as 1777, but the Union Jack is counted in 1801 even if the first version was used since 1606... Okay. :D

The Australian flag is incorrect. It changed in 1911. There used to be 6 points on the star below the Union Jack, ever since ACT became a state (1911), it got its seventh point.

About Czech and Slovakia flag. Czech Republic definitely had their flag first. Because Czechoslovakia was dissolved in 1992, Slovakia from that time has a new flag. But Czech keep the flag from Czechoslovakia. I mean, I am none geography tip, but Czech and Slovekia flag must be wrong🇨🇿🇸🇰
Česká vlajka je novější ;) Slováci svou vlajku používali už dřív a naopak České země dříve používaly vlajku bez modré barvy (před rokem 1920). Modrá se objevila až na vlajce Československa (asi právě kvůli Slovensku) a následně i po rozpadu Československa si ČR tuto vlajku ponechala.
Slováci se pak vrátili k té své "původní". Naše "původní" se nevrátila a dál se používá ta československá. Naše původní by asi dělala akorát bordel, protože vypadala stejně jako vlajka Polska.

The scotch flag was the first one to be adopted in 1222 so Denmark should go 3rd because Denmark has a normal cross not a Scandinavian cross in 1219
The Polish Flag wasnt used in 1831 for the first it was other country, (Duchy Of Warsaw)
