Got a 2000 Accord SE for free a year ago. A friend going to junk it for $200, but gave to me instead. The car was immaculate inside. Had a few issues. Blown head gasket, needed a tuneup, needed a new radiator and leaked oil from the solenoid and the water pump. All in all, i spent about $1400 to fix everything. The car now runs perfect. Solid car. Th best part, when i got it, it only had 115k on it. The original owner drove an average of 4.5k a year. Wasn’t driven hard at all.

The car just had all fluids changed, new to timing belt, water pump, catalytic converter, brakes, rotors and tires. Hoping to be able to drive it for another 100K.
Just got 2000 5 speed accord from my son. Took it to get the oil changed and the guy in the other bay wanted to buy it. It has 275,000 miles and runs great. It’s been 20+ years since I’ve driven a standard but I’m having fun with it!
I’ve had my 2001 accord for almost 3 years that almost went to junkyard until I’ve saved it from the previous owner and now it’s works very great with 166,543 miles on it.
@@Dranfusion what engine and gearbox do you have in yours? Ive the f18b2 hooked to a 5 speed manual in mine. 230,000 miles on the clock. Its in storage for now but it'll see road again in a few years. Its been in my family since new, in fact both of my parents remember the day and following 2 to 3 years after buying it. At the time, everyone in the family had the usual late 70s to early 90s shitboxes so the accord (LS 1.8i trim level) was like a space ship in almost all aspects back then. It never lost THAT feel to it over its 25 year life span. Always solid on the road but not rattly or too harsh. Comfy seats. Good steering and a very snappy precise gearbox which still goes through all gears beautifully. The last generation of the real hondas if you ask me. Absolutely love them
I have owned one of these (2002 SE sedan 4 cylinder) since September 2004 and it now has 124,000 miles on it. I am having the original struts replaced next Monday as it still runs very well. I have not had any transmission issues at all. It has been a reliable car and only left me stranded once when the radiator failed (very common with all cars which use aluminum radiators with plastic crimped on tanks). Fortunately I was able to get to a service station and get a bus home. There is a lot of aftermarket support for this generation as so many of them were made. Used parts are also relatively easy to find compared to other brands.
I've owned my 2001 accord for 6 years now, best car ever!!!! It has 260,000 miles on it. Oil leak , power steering leak and issues with the windows but I love her lol ....
I just purchased a 2000 Accord LX with 68,000 miles for $5,000 that was in Arizona. What a nice car! The only issue I have right now is a rear defroster that is not working. On the drive from Phoenix to Northern Illinois, I was going 70 mph and getting 34 mpg! Unreal. A very comfortable car that I will keep for some time. I LOVE HONDA'S - Cars and Mototcycles.
I've been driving a Gen6 Accord for almost 20 years now. It's an 01 LX sedan with about 267k miles on it. The transmission did eat itself last Christmas, but a replacement was easily snagged online, and while it was a tedious job without an engine hoist, I got the clutch and trans swapped out on my driveway. Like most transverse mount front drives it's not always the easiest car to work on, but the 2.3L is a pretty bulletproof engine. One issue I have run into is that it's hard to find some parts, like for example suspension bushings. Most of the rear bushings are worn out on my car. I eventually had to custom order a set, but it was a lot cheaper than replacing all the rear suspension arms. Now I just need to find the time to pull everything apart and get the old bushings pressed out (one job like this will comfortably justify the relatively minor expense of the Harbor Freight 20 ton press. :D
Had a 1998 Accord LX with 201,000 miles on it before our son totaled it. That thing was a tank! Started everytime and got 30mpg. The famous Honda body/paint issue is well known. Ours was starting to rust around the back wheel wells. Otherwise bullet proof!
I bought my 5 speed 2000 honda accord for about $1000, it came with around 220k miles. However, I discovered the engine had been swapped for a newer version. So the body roughly has 220k and an engine around 190k. Unfortunately, the previous owner didn't really keep up with maintenance so I had to put about $500 into it. I put about 5k miles on it and haven't had any engine-related issues, now I only need to replace shocks and tires. In my opinion, it's a solid car if maintenance was kept up to date but if not expect to put at least $800 into the car.
I have a 2000 accord ex 3.0. I only have 182k on mine. Previous owner neglected everything. I've put over 1k in the last year. Bought it halloween 2020. I do believe it has alot of life left on it. Especially if I put the care in it that it needs. Alot of front end work. Still I love the car. So much potential.
@@b58racing the previous owner said they rebuilt the trans but I'm not sure on that. It shifts a lil hard sometimes. Hasn't given me any major issues yet
I have a 1998,2000,2001,2002 they are all great cars if you know how to change the timing belt, water pump, engine seals, motor mount, valve cover gasket, vtec and distributor O rings,You can drive these 6th generation Accords forever. All I mentions are the cons of these models. My 2001 have 405,000 miles now and have done all the services I mention. The engine and transmission must be maintain religiously to achieve the longevity of these generation.
@@elalc1938 Definitely obey the service interval on the timing belt. Change it without fail, and since you're in there you might as well hit the water pump at the same time. You do NOT want to break a timing belt at speed on the 2.3L. It's an interference design (piston and valve travel overlap in the cylinder) and a busted timing belt means bent valves and maybe holed pistons
I have a 2002 Honda Accord SE 4 Cylinder. And it has treated me very well. And the Maintenance has been a lot cheaper than my previous sports car I had. My Mom got it when it was only a few years old and I bought it from her 5 years ago. So We have had it almost its whole life. The only major thing that happened to mine was the transmission locked up when my mom still owned it. So I understand the transmission problems. She replaced it with a heavy duty Aftermarket transmission and it has never had problems since in that area. Other than that, all minor things. I too had to fix a window motor. I just fixed an oil leak on the Vtec Solenoid. And it still runs like a dream! Most of the things wrong with it are on the body. Luckily I don't have the paint problems. Actually the body is in great shape other than you can tell the age. The only thing I need to fix right now is the Drivers side outer door handle. The plastic broke. Luckily there is still enough for me to still open the door.
Drove a 1999 Accord EX 2.3L between 2006 and 2016. Ran it from 94k up to 275,000 miles. This model had the A/C drain pipe directly over the subframe so that was not an easy fix as the sub frame needed to be replaced. Other than that, the expected replacement parts like ball joints, radiator, radiator hoses, pump relay board (solder fix) etc. These are great cars. Sold mine for $800 in 2016 to some high school kid. Drove like a dream for a standard 4dr economy car. Could feel the road back then. Can't feel the road even with a 2005 Honda Accord. They just don't make them like they used to.
Yeah the A/C drainage fault messes it all up. Subframe always getting attack with the A/C water, dirt salt with heat humid build up as result. To fix just extend the A/C drainage with a hose and clap to tighten in place, directing out of way of subframe, right to the floor. If your subframe is rotted out, must have to fix that. If you're lucky everything solid, nothing to worry. Just make sure it clean and spray rust protection after. The hose extention should prevent further issues. This happened to me as well. This is a common for all same models. I would add to list of recall if it we're me making decisions to be frank.
I drain and change the transmission fluid with Honda fluid every year. That way the transmission will really last. 210,000 miles on my 1999 and still going strong.
I bought a 2001 Accord EX 3.0L coupe a few weeks ago for $600. It needed the transmission replaced, which I was able to do for $900 for a 80K used one and $1300 labor, fluids, and seals. The car has 129K, and I’m all in for $2800. Could sell it tomorrow for over $3K if I wanted to, but I like it as a weekend drive. I’ll never put enough miles on it to wear it out.
I have a 2000 honda accord that me and my brother bought from one owner back in 2009. At 162k-165k I've had top end redone with a new water pump and timing belt. Also had the transmission replacement 3 times with AAmco wich was a nightmare lol. I also did my smog canister, egr, replacement myself. She has 175k and she runs like brand new. The car is very sentimental because it was for my mom. I do the detail work on it. I also changed the air cabin filter for the very first time. It had oem filters from Indonesia lol. These cars will definitely last that's for sure. Thank you for making this video.
I've had my 2000 v6 4 door for 10 years been an awesome car minimal maintenance and now it has 215,000 on the odometer I think I'm going to see if I can join the million mile club with this one

Honda made the automatic transmission in this series designed to slip between the gears. There is no fix for it other than rebuilding it. Look it up. The manual transmission is great. I bought a 98 5 speed at 75,000 miles. It's at 235,000 now and running great. It think it's still on the original clutch. Mine has stranded me twice. First time the fuel level sender got stuck or something and the gas gauge was reading high. Ran my stupid self out of gas trying to make it just one exit further. :D Second time (I didn't pull the old gearbox apart to be sure but it's a reasonable guess) a shifter fork broke of on a 4-5 upshift. I couldn't get the car into 5th, and the next time I had to stop the car for a traffic light the busted part made its way into the geartrain and jammed the 'box up solid. I have taken ownership of my father's 2002 Honda Accord LX with similar interior trim, and you screwed the pooch by not stating that the 4-cyl engine needs a valve adjustment service... at least by 100k miles. Love this car, the transmission issue is resolved if you get serviced by a BK product or other quality product. The factory paint was water based, so your video was sad to miss this important point.
I've made it most of the way to 300k (267k or thereabouts :) ) without doing the valve adjustment. Just lazy, I guess. I swear to myself, "Next time I have the valve cover off I'll tweak the valve clearance" but I never seem to get 'round to it. :D
It says in the owner’s manual to do three drain and fills in a row as transmission has no external filter. Use only genuine Honda transmission fluid. Dealer will usually give you a discount for 3 in a row. Do a drain and fill once a year thereafter. If this doesn’t fix it there are 3 external solenoids which can be cleaned. I haven’t done this but they can get clogged up. I had mine rebuilt in 2016 which was unnecessary. Start with the 3 drain and fills.

On the drive from Phoenix to Northern Illinois, I was going 70 mph and getting 34 mpg! Unreal. A very comfortable car that I will keep for some time. I LOVE HONDA'S - Cars and Mototcycles.
That's great to hear!
Hey! Where you from in illinois? I’m from dekalb county
Got yr 2000 CG5 2.3L with 380k on the clock
Bullet proof Reliability
Still purring and hits 200kmh any day
Just crossed 200k on mine. Still running strong!
Hi can you help me find brother
I have a 2000 accord ex 3.0. I only have 182k on mine. Previous owner neglected everything. I've put over 1k in the last year. Bought it halloween 2020. I do believe it has alot of life left on it. Especially if I put the care in it that it needs. Alot of front end work. Still I love the car. So much potential.

Can you give me tips for mine,it vibrates alot while its on
@@elalc1938 Check your motor mounts..
I just picked up a 2002 accord lx with 180k miles runs great. Plan on taking it to 300k. Finger ms crossed
I would add to list of recall if it we're me making decisions to be frank.
how much did it cost to fix the A/C,
I drain and change the transmission fluid with Honda fluid every year. That way the transmission will really last. 210,000 miles on my 1999 and still going strong.
Thank you! I totally forgot to do that I have the fluid and everything ready lol.
Yep, regular fluid changes is pretty crucial to keeping that automatic transmission alive.
I've got 267k on my 2001 LX. I'm shooting for a half mil. Dunno if my left leg'll still work well enough to operate a clutch pedal by the time I could get it to a million. :D
Just picked up a 2000 ex 4 cyl. Didn’t run. New distributor, plugs, leads and main relay and its purring like new again. 200,000 Klm paid $1250 bucks! Its my 3rd one. Had a 02 SE 4 cyl. Overall a great car highly recommend just have a great mechanic like I do and keep up the maintenance on the vehicle.

I have a 2002 which I bought with 90K miles. I paid $2500 but it’s an Ex V6 with leather & sun roof. The body looks like yours ( same green). I changed the timing belt and did an oil change since it just crossed over 100,000 miles. I intend to drive it until the body falls off the frame.
Same with me the body will be the first thing to go on the vehicle.
I have the v6 one, I believe it has every option you can add, leather seats and driver seat is electric surprisingly. Anyway, that car really moves for a 200 hp car. Currently at about 145,000 miles and still running great! I've been doing oil change every 3000 miles. I drive the shit out of it too doing about 100 plus miles a day. Junk yards have a lot of these, so I can find replacement body parts in the same color. TH-cam has tons of videos on fixing it. I'm 6'2" and can stretch out my legs for a nap. Automatic transmission is crap (both I4 & V6 variants), darker color accords have clear coat issues, ignition issues, rear wheelwells rust easy of your state use salt for winter, sun roof may rust and/or get stuck, door locks can seize, flex pipe always tear causing exhaust leaks... yeah, it's a good beater.

Can some one say about the petrol consumption of accord cf 9 please..
2l, 4 cilinder engine.
Dude, you are a young man and my 1st car was a Datsun 510 to keep in context.
01-02 HAD TRANS. PROBLEMS AND ALSO
03 AND 08 TRANS. PROBLEMS.
My transmission has been great in mine but its a 2000. I haven't owned a 01 or 02.
no.
The AUTOMATIC had issues.
The manual is super reliable
ANY TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS? In mine the transmission jerks sometimes
Haven't noticed any problems with mine so far.
I’m about to buy a 2000 accord with 170,000 miles for 2k one Monday plz let me know if it’s a go or no and wat to look for
2024 update: you cannot find one of these for under $2000 anymore
02 ex coupe w 270k miles.. its fucked up but my GOD does it keep driving
Exactly! It wont stop running lol.
“Because I want you to buy mine”
Over 25 years, 350k and still running

I have the exact same car with the exact same problems. My 99 Honda Accord LX has 332,000 miles. my mechanic said it RUNS LIKE A HORSE!!!
