- I decided to record a set with just the op-1 to challenge myself to use the master effects better/more frequently. It's not perfect, but it got my chops up a bit. I definitely think with a bit more work one could perform a mean set with just the op-1 and no external effects.

I haven't picked the 4 tracks that I'll release for this particular set yet - any preferences???

Incredible. Tracks were dope and perfomance was smooth. Can I ask how you did such smooth transitions between loops?
Thanks heaps man. I think the easiest option is to use the Nitro filter and drop out a couple of tracks. I sort of rushed through the set a little but if I were to take my time I would also fade out tracks using the mixer to make it a bit smoother.

How long did the preparations take for this whole set?
Thanks man! This was a while ago, but I remember going pretty hard on this set for a couple weeks or so. Was trying to pump out 1-2 ‘tracks’ a night.

This is really awesome. I don't know that I've seen another OP-1 video like this. I'm not sure how you are changing the loop start and end points on the fly though. Can you explain how you are doing that?
Thanks Michael! When you are in tape mode, hold shift and press the arrow keys to move back/forth between your loops. I’m planning on making a video explaining my production and live workflow in a bit more detail soon. Hope that helps!

But how can you performe longer then the 6 minutes tape length from the OP 1?
Haha thanks so much Werner! I posted a tutorial on my channel to explain the production process, but long story short, you loop sections of your tape. Then, you can drop tracks in and out of the mix/add fx to create dynamic, distinguishable, tracks. Happy to answer more questions if you have, easiest to DM on instagram. Thanks again for watching!

Very lovely, great job! Do you compile/glue the stems together for the set to play, or do you work in this fashion (of a 4-bar loops) right from the start when composing?
Hey, thanks heaps! I build everything as I go. Generally start by chopping up a sample, lay down the kick for a metronome, record the bass, hats, snares, percussion after that. I generally use two 4-bar loops to create a ‘track’ that I can perform live. I’m working on a tutorial to explain this better soon 👍.

question? how are you changing the position in the tape? I see that you press Shift + 2 ... But that is not what the OP1 normally does .....
Hey man, to change position on the tape you press shift + < or > You probably saw me mute a track if I was pressing shift + 2. Hope that helps!
How did you force the loop on to the next bar @1:10 ?? How did you move your loop over like that i need to know
Just shift and the right key. It’s very easy to move between loops on the op-1 ✅

i find it all just such a strange and awkward human behavior.
But that’s probably just because I ACTUALLY grew up using all that crap so it’s nothing special.
I own one of these overpriced fisher price my first hipster groovebox’s as well. ……. Not happy with gimmicky built in limitations.
Yes, the props were all so obviously arranged in the shot, because I flipped the Kung Fu and Mario themes as part of my set. Hope your day gets better 😉.
