As a kid I only watched TNA and was actually surprised when I learned he was in WWE at all. Same for literally every wrestler that had previously been in WWE, guys like Kurt and Sting to me are TNA wrestlers. Some wrestlers I already knew like Jeff hardy tho.
Sooo WWE overworked him, causing him to have a drug problem, then he left after refusing to go through rehab cause the pain was too much and the meds were too good, but somehow its only Kurt's fault.........
Wwe ended the contract and told him to go and take a break and come back when he was ready and that same contract would have been there for him when he came back. Instead of doing what he said he was gonna do he turned around and signed with TNA lol
Yes, it was only Kurt’s fault. By his own admission he never asked for time off, he never asked for help, and when Vince let him out of his deal Kurt told Vince it wasn’t to work anywhere else that he just needed time off, then he immediately signed with tna. Vince didn’t give him drugs. Kurt did it all to himself and he would tell you that.
Dude, your videos are amazing. Keep it up and keep doing what you enjoy, I know you're going to get really popular. You got a great personality and you made this video so much more fun to watch!
He left cause he was burnt out and wwe wouldn’t offer him a part time schedule where he didn’t have to do house shows if wwe offered him a part time deal then definitely would have stayed past 2006
I know why he came out to HHH’s theme. This was the SmackDOWN after the draft. Paul Heyman, then SmackDOWN GM, was drafted to Raw, and instead of working for Eric Bischoff, Heyman “quit”. Earlier in the same draft, HHH was drafted to SmackDOWN. When SmackDOWN came on later that week, HHH’s music played, but Angle instead came out and announced he was the new GM and that he traded HHH back to Raw in exchange for (I believe) the Dudleys.
I believe the point was to troll the audience with hyping up the theme and then Angle comes out randomly in a suit. In retrospective, it does give you a foreshadowing he is going to heel his roll. I believe he was playing it pretty neutral until Big Show chokeslammed him off the balcony - then comes out the following week and rips into Torrie Wilson, blaming her for Show going off the deep end.
A little history lesson here: In that year's draft, Triple H was drafted by Smackdown. Kurt's first act as GM was announcing that he traded him back to Raw for the Dudleyz and Booker T, I believe. That's why he came out to Triple H's music.
I remember one time where Kurt Angle was against a heel, and in that instance, everyone pointed to that guy while chanting "You Suck!" to Kurt's themesong. It's something funny that always stuck with me, how all the ingredients for a typical Kurt Angle scenario were there, but changed around ever so slightly.
It’s insane to think for most of Kurt’s entire pro wrestling career he was never truly 100% and he still ended up having a legendary run both in WWE and in TNA. Not only of one the best technical wrestlers but also a savage heel
Few things that I think need to be mentioned; -He got released because he refused to go to rehab at the time in WWE. Vince continued to offer to pay for his rehab even after he left AND during his time in TNA. -Austin tapped to Jericho and Benoit in a combination of the walls and crossface. He also tapped to the Rock's sharpshooter but, alas no ref.
i got into a fight with someone over this. dude kept telling me was going to kill himself in the ring in 2-3 months into his tna run. then he himself died in 2010
Kurt was probably one of most craziest wrestlers out there. I remember I actually got to meet him at a special Olympics over here. He came to my old high school I graduated at. Great guy!
I am honestly glad he made the switch. WWE went through a semi-rough patch around that time, and TNA was really looking to be serious competition. They used him so well and Main Event Mafia was 🤌🏻🤌🏻
@ at the time? Yes. 2007-2010 ish was a really strong period of time for TNA. Of course we know they never reached WWE’s level, but during that time, they were looking very strong, and were gaining a lot of attraction for their product.
@@WrestlingEditionTVI think a lot of people forget the viewership they were attaining, at one point I think they almost hit 3 million (even if it was just one show). Since WCWs downfall, no wrestling show has gotten near those numbers except WWE, AEW included
The thing about back in the day was you didn’t have social media and guys breaking kayfabe. Not saying it’s a bad thing because the product and production has improved but back then everything seemed real
And honestly, I basically stopped watching in 2006/2007 though I wanna say it was 2006, not because of Kurt leaving but by that time they changed the date from Thursday to Friday and the industry started to go downhill. The real death of wwf began with 2004 having Eddie become champ
Everyone was telling Kurt as well DO NOT WRESTLE HIM" and Kurt proceeded to try and got embarrassed hard in front of thousands of people not even including the one's who were watching from home
Brock Lesnar's rookie year was better. He was a WWE champion within a few months after he debuted and also won the Royal Rumble his first year. Sheamus's rookie year was better too. He won the WWE championship 2 months after he debuted. Then won it back a few months after he lost it. It took Kurt Angle like 2 years to win his first WWE Championship.
This is why I enjoy wrestling. Thanks for the laughs bro. "Crazy Kurt. Gonna make your ankle hurt." Crazy when Brock broke his neck. I'm not 500 pounds, but, this why I'm not out doing shooting stars. Star not supposed to be your brain stem. He's not human though. Mans a monster.
should of mentioned that Kurt won King of the Ring 2000 his rookie year also. And that the 2000 King of the Ring had 32 entries, more than any other year to date. Further adding to his push.
lol he came out with HHH music because it was the first smackdown after the draft which that year they did the draft on Raw and each GM would take a random lotto ball and it had the star’s “name” on it. Paul Heyman pulled Triple H name which at the time was the top star on Raw. Eric pulled Paul Heyman’s name and Paul quit so he wouldn’t work for Eric. So when smackdown was starting they hyped up HHH to debut but Kurt came out to announce he’s the new GM since Heyman quit and his first move as GM was trading HHH back to Raw for Booker T and the Dudleys
Clarification, Vince wanted Angle to so a real shoot fight, but EVERYONE INCLUDING VINCE told Angle DO NOT FIGHT DANIEL. Daniel was training to be a MMA fighter, and he only had 1 professional bout to his name at the time. In 2005 UFC wasn't a household name and MMA was novel term, so anyone who said they did UFC they really meant MMA. That spoke WWE - Angle not wanted to be outdone, went off script and choose to fight Daniel. The entire night WWE had the Tough Enough guys doing bullshit to try and gas them so they wouldn't have a chance against Angle, they also didn't tell the guys Angle was going to challenge them. Right before Angle made the challenge they made em do burpies to again gas, then but Daniel had be going through the motions all night to the point where he won the burpies challenge but they really gave the victory to the second place guy, BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T WANT ANGLE TO SHOOT FIGHT DANIEL. Angle 10 years, 100 neck surgeries, and 1000 vicodins after winning a gold medal thought he could shoot fight a 20 year training to be a mixed martial artist, and it backfired bad. The ref is the real MVP because he counted a 3 count and got angle out the situation before his arm was snapped Daniel got hazed because he tried to get heat/clout off the situation then he doubled back and said he was in the main event at the Rumble, (yes the rumble match was the main event, but the guys in the locker room, knew because of match length the true main event was the title match before) Jim Ross said, that situation is an era based situation. Look who did the hazing it was Eddie, Holly and Benoit. faster foward 2024 Rollins, McIntrye, and Jey Uso wouldn't do it. Times have changed
Kurt angle's idea to have his character be the anti "anti hero" where he says good things and seems positive, a goody 2 shoe but is actually a villan. Opposite of popular wrestler at that time like stone cold.
The fact that he was real life having issues with Karen and all the injuries and most of his personal life was used as gimmicks and storylines in WWE around 2004-06 and TNA did him super dirty
Him being overworked wasn't the real reason why he left. It was due to WWE picking John Cena over him and that's why Kurt angle had enough and went to TNA.
No he didnt. He needed to leave WWE in order to save his life. WWE was working him like a dog 300 days a year which led him to become a drug pill addict.
I didn't ask for a Angle Bio, seem plenty, i just wanted to find out why he left TNA. Next time I'll just go to the horses mouth. Kurt has a podcast im pretty sure he shed a light on the situation
