What PC specification were you using for Xplane11 here? Have you any experience with using Linux. I have a (by modern standards) lower specification PC to try. Helpful video, thank you.
So is it also possible with the normal b737-800 to connect it, with the files to download or is it just the specific modells? Btw great video, its really nice to see others speak with ATC you can learn alot

Possible update to this video ... the XPilot installation automatically installed the correct aircraft configs to the BLUEBELL folder for me just now ... I did not have to copy and paste it seems ... will give it a test run to confirm however ... great video Jonathan!
Yep - the haphazard location of folders containing files, and the need to monkey with folder structures, config files, and re-download add-ons repeatedly is the reason I eventually left X-Plane behind.
Hi Jonathan, a quick question if I may, I have xPilot, and downloaded all the Bluebell files but I don't see the yellow tags above each plane. I was sitting 'watching/listening' at EGPH with a few inbound and outbound flights, I can listen in to the available frequencies so I know that bit is fine. I have a feeling that it is to do with Bluebell, but not sure what or is there a setting within X-Plane to initiate this?
hi jonothan a great video but im having really annoying problems first of all when i put my simulators IP address in and reset the sim and xpilot and then start a flight etc the TX and RX are still greyed out ive also set something in the file to true like vatsim suggested and still it doesnt work any help??
You need client software to connect to vatsim. xPilot is a VATSIM client application. VATSIM is a service on the internet that xPilot connects to. xPilot also integrates with XPlane - which is what makes your COM radios work.
Open X-Plane first - otherwise X-Pilot will have nothing to connect to. If you're starting X-Pilot first, that would explain why it can't see the plugin. To make sure the plugin is installed and running, while in X-Plane look in the plugins menu - you should be able to see it.
vpilot doesn't work with XPlane - there used to be an alternative called XPilot. Not sure if it's still around - I haven't had XPlane installed for a couple of years.

You can connect any plane to vatsim.

No idea - they were probably offline. I've not had XPlane 11 installed for 3 years now :)

In any Windows app, hold ALT down, and press TAB repeatedly to choose the program you want to change focus to.
I tried to connect but it didn’t work, it said some configuration items are required before I can connect, don’t know what to do I need help.

found it!
The setting is in the plugin itself - you can setup where it looks for the bluebell CSL files. You need to re-start the sim after doing so.

I haven't had X-Plane installed for about 2 years now - sorry.
@jonbeckett oh right doesn't matter anyways i just had to uninstall xpilot and the csl stuff and then start again, etc

what if I already have vpilot but I use it for msfs, how can I pull up the tab because Xplane is in full screen.

How did you play multiplayer?
In X-Plane I used to use JoinFS, but it's pretty awful. It's a big reason for switching to MSFS, which has very good multiplayer built-in.
