As someone who’s gotten sucked into the local scenes of the northeast. I highly reccomend to go see your local acts. You’re bound to fall in love with one of them. And having that connection while they grow is priceless. Listening to music is cool, but you can also be a part of it. It’s amazing.
I know right? This album’s production is really good. But I just think they have to up their pen game. Imagine this album’s style but with passable lyricism. That’s album of the year right there. Okay maybe I’m overreacting but still
How did Alex G’s “huah!” on “Blessing” not immediately come to mind? Anyway, this record is great, but for every 8 Anthony gives, the more curious Blue Rev’s “light 7” becomes.
I'm so stoked to see this band getting such recognition!! I played on the same bill as them at their 2nd show ever back in August 2021, and they've been killing it ever since 🤘
@elijahadams350 they didnt seem super gazey when i saw them (i think it was their 2nd or 3rd show or something) but it's cool seeing them pop up on show posters
feeble little horse is the goat. their first EP 'modern tourism' slaps and it has some great B sides on the bandcamp release, including a cover of when you sleep. FLH til i die !!!
holy cow I'm so glad to see feeble little horse getting traction. saw them open for Snail Mail earlier this year and fell in love with them since. feel like they have big things in their future, really bummed they canceled their tour tho
PLEASE LISTEN TO The Girl, The Cat, and The Tree by LAUSSE THE CAT. the production, lyrics, themes, and story telling are top notch for being fairly unheard of. It is LAUSSE THE CAT's only album but I think its one of the best British rap albums I've ever heard
Heard Sweet in one of my hipster indie playlists and enjoyed it. Since it’s so short, I’ll definitely give it a listen! Love me some good shoegaze no matter the age.
I listened to this album this morning on the basis of how interesting your review made it sound and, low and behold, how interesting this album is goes toe to toe with how interesting your review is.
I swear 90% of the music I've liked this year sounds like loads of words put in a random word generator "I loved the new Boss Baby ft Aiken Jointz song - Pancake Accelerator"
After you spurned Mandy Indiana and Water From Your Eyes, I kind of figured this would be the next one to get dismissed - but I’m so happy you loved it! Such an intimate yet creatively expansive collection of songs
YEAHHHHHH FLH!!!!!!!!!!!! this album and their first record had been on constant rotation for me. i really hope this gets them some recognition because i wanna see them live so fuckinf bad but no one rly comes to st louis
They are dazed like few others, the only band they remind me of, not musically, but precisely for the type of mood are the Flaming Lips. Great couple of albums imho, great review of course.
I was listening to this yesterday after seeing the very good critics in the different blogs, it's a very good album indeed! They are so young and talented
I'd agree, but it'd make it very rare. He should add more colors if that the case. 1 and 2 red, 3 and 4 orange, 5 and 6 green, 7 and 8 blue, 9 and 10 yellow.
I feel like part of the yellow flannel though is to get clicks on his videos. If it's either 8, 9 or 10 then it creates more mystery and someone will be more likely to click on it just to see what score the album got. If it's only reserved for 9's and 10's then the score is much more predictable and less people will watch his videos.
Well, the yellow flannel just means he loved an album, as they all get added to his Loved Playlist. I’m also pretty sure he’s worn it in “strong 7/light 8” reviews before. The man can’t control how many albums a year he ends up loving/hating lol.
I'd be interested in hearing a review of a symphonic metal album, I don't think you've ever reviewed one? A couple of examples from major symphonic metal bands are Nightwish's "Endless Forms Most Beautiful", and Within Temptation's "The Heart of Everything".
My friend recommended this to me when it came out and I didn't really listen to it till a few days ago, I haven't been able to listen to much else since god knows why it's just in my brain

please please PLEASE take a look at Six Impala's latest concept-album EARWAX. It dropped maybe a couple weeks ago and it's very different to anything I've ever heard before, kinda similar to albums that Clarence Clarity has made before (if you're familiar with that name). It's a very story-driven album with voice actors & environmental sound-design despite the fact that there are no visuals accompanying the album. It's probably the complete opposite to what I would consider 'easy-listening music'. I'd love to hear your insight on this album! Cheers.
YES i was wondering if anyone was gonna recommend this album !!! probably my AOTY for now , at least until six impala member underscores drops wallsocket
I saw this band live along with soccer mommy opening for snail mails valentine fest. (Amazing set and only 350 occupancy at Ottobar one of the best venues ever) FLH was pretty good but I never could have seen them being as good as they are in the album. I’m hoping they become more comfortable on stage. The new indie rock renaissance with bands like momma, flh and horsegirl is amazing especially to one who wasn’t a fan of the indie electro or whatever sylvan Esso is (so many people love them but I don’t understand.) I’m hoping that this new direction gets some more traditional indie fans as many shows lately have has such a bad crowd (Alex g + phoebe + etc)
@trapd00rspider yeah it was awesome, Sophie did an acoustic set with the hits + the debut of Switzerland live. It was a mystery until I saw her come in with a pizza box lmao.
I love how Fantano called 2023 mid and the entire universe came together to prove him wrong
the past 2 weeks have been incredibly stacked in terms of releases
4 IN A ROW
And he hasnt even reviewed King Gizzard yet 😱
The yellow flannel wave said not this year, melon
Wait till he reviews king gizzard and the not to mention there’s a new swans record coming out on the 23.
there have been a lot of yellow flannels recently. thank you for giving me permission to listen to these albums anthony ❤️❤️
Anthony: 2023 has been mid
Also Anthony: 7 yellow flannels in June alone, and the month isn't even over yet
The Pittsburgh indie scene is so underrated.
Actually I have no idea, it's just something everybody says about everywhere.
Shin Guard was amazing, at least.
Wow, I'm so happy this album got the yellow flannel. It's well deserved for sure.
I'll listen to it tomorrow
I haven‘t listened to it yet but I disagree.
😂
It's incredible
As someone who’s gotten sucked into the local scenes of the northeast. I highly reccomend to go see your local acts. You’re bound to fall in love with one of them. And having that connection while they grow is priceless. Listening to music is cool, but you can also be a part of it. It’s amazing.
Freak is one of my favs on the whole album, incredibly catchy imo

How did Alex G’s “huah!” on “Blessing” not immediately come to mind? Anyway, this record is great, but for every 8 Anthony gives, the more curious Blue Rev’s “light 7” becomes.
That was my immediate thought when he said that. The way that HUAH tore through my soul when I first heard Blessing.
i thought of the stooges & a buncha other old garage rock bands. but alex g really can’t be clocked wow. his influence grows n grows.
That's exactly what I was thinking midway through this review!
Blue Rev was mid tho
Came here to say the same thing
I'm so stoked to see this band getting such recognition!! I played on the same bill as them at their 2nd show ever back in August 2021, and they've been killing it ever since 🤘
Love seeing some familiar pittsburgh faces in the comments! Feeble little horse deserves every little bit of recognition
Pittsburgh's shoegaze scene is about to explode and I am LIVING IT UP.
Fax
tbh there arent really many shoegaze bands here lol. we got silver car crash and feeble little horse. mostly hardcore bands tbh

Pittsburgh's diy music scene is an absolute gold mine
The scene is great, you guys ever listen to brightside?
"There hasn't been many good drops recently"
Gives five yellow flannels in a row on the same week.

Their first album is really great as well!
@@horsetorso9232 Yess. I bump Dog Song 2 almost every day.
FOUR yellow flannels in a row? That's gotta be a new record
Oh hell yeah, their debut was fantastic, glad to see they’re keeping it up and Anthony is giving them they recognition they deserve
Pittsburgh loves you too, Anthony.
Ah, another positive review from my favorite youtuber, Anthony "2023 has been mid so far" Fantano.
Dude this is so surreal, I remember hearing about these guys when they were just a local band of college kids, it was like a year and half ago
They played a house show on campus like 2 months ago lol
PGH DIY represent! I saw them live the day after the album release, they were great
I listened to this album this morning on the basis of how interesting your review made it sound and, low and behold, how interesting this album is goes toe to toe with how interesting your review is.

I’m just gonna assume every yellow flannel for someone I’ve never heard of is gonna be an 8/10
There’s been so many yellow flannels recently that scrolling through this channel is like passing the banana section at the grocery store.
We love to see Xiu Xiu’s girl achieving a well-balanced diet
Fantano slowly getting stereogum-pilled. I love it
Me too
Such a good review! This album is really something, wasn't expecting at all. Will you review QOTSA - In Times New Roman...?
You really think he won’t?

Love this record. I get more of a Swirlies vibe than MBV, though. Hope they reschedule their tour soon!
I love how stacked this year has been so far

So glad you love this album as pgh native ::)
I absolutely love this album. I wonder if early Liz Phair had any influence on the band
Thought the same thing. Like a neon soaked May-queen.
1:49 never heard a hugh in an indie song yet put blessing in the fav tracks in his god save the animals review
This is one of my favorite indie/showgaze bands out there. Really beautiful stuff.
One of the best recent albums out there
Thank you for introducing me to this album. One of my favorites this decade now.
2023 seems to be the year of the 8's

He called the vocals on the Wednesday album “forgettable”, but somehow thinks this isn’t?
4 yellows in a row, 2023 might finally be picking up
Can’t wait for the overused: “Anthony if they had named this album ‘a buttplug with a star on’ you would have given it a 10”
10th yellow flannel in the past month, for anyone wondering.
Killer Mike- MICHAEL
4th yellow flannel in a row. I can’t believe what my eyes are seeing 🥹

wow he actually reviewed this
Girl with Fish feels like its more of Hayday offered, which is fantastic cause Hayday was so short but so good. It's more of what I wanted.
Pittsburgh DIY represent!
So this is the "yellow flannel after yellow flannel after yellow flannel"-moment he talked about and hoped for recently...
LET'S ARGUE: Yellow flannel should be reserved for 9's and 10's tbh
He’s been giving out too many 8’s for the yellow flannel to really mean something again
I'd agree, but it'd make it very rare. He should add more colors if that the case. 1 and 2 red, 3 and 4 orange, 5 and 6 green, 7 and 8 blue, 9 and 10 yellow.
Nah these people are trippin. An 8 means its REALLY worth listening to it
I feel like part of the yellow flannel though is to get clicks on his videos.
